We're not quite finished for the day as Simon is working on another tranche of pit notes. 17:55 Super Street Bike qualifying after session 3 Graham Balchin up from #5 to #2 first pair, in the other lane Mark Wells moved up from #15 to #11. Paul Hambidge up from #13 to #9 next pair, in the other lane Simon Girordmaina went into the sevens but stayed #6 at that point. Same story for Garry Bowe, improvement but stayed #5. Dave Smith up from an unaccustomed bump spot to #11, in the other lane smoke from Dave Holland's bike and a wide trail of oil in his lane. Pretty major clean-up job so with time moving on and the temperature dropping the decision was made to go single-lane and run the three remaining SSBs as byes in the left lane. Improvement for Steve Venables in the last bye to consolidate his #1 spot.

Meanwhile we will be working on today's pictures and Simon is out getting more pit notes so we're not done here yet. 17:05 Comp Bike qualifying after session 3 Improvement for Phil Crossley to move from #8 to #6 in the second pair; in the other lane Harold Wolfenden's rear slick tried to write his name on the track on the launch and he really had his hands full keeping the bike upright. Good riding job from Harold kept the bike shiny side up. Great run for Tony Clark to conclude the session, moved him up from #5 to #4 for good measure.

16:55 8.50 Bike qualifying after session 3 Mike Kraaij almost on the deck after his burnout, appeared from under the Tower with the bike at about a 45-degree angle and one hand dragging along the ground trying to keep upright. The bike made a hard right turn for good measure as starter David Warren went to add a steadying hand. Mike got the bike stopped and was all set to run but was persuaded otherwise by the start line crew. In the other lane Jemma Venables went into #2 spot only to be bumped down a place next pair as Sebastien Grodlub took over the lead. Having had time to draw breath Mike Kraaij came back for the last-but-one pair and took over #8 spot. Augy Harrison moved up to #11 spot in the last pair of the session.

12:25 Comp Bike qualifying after session 2 Improvement for Paul Wing in the first pair but stayed on the bump spot. Stu Crane up into #2 from #9 in the next pair. Light front end the reason for Kev Charman's early shut-off in session one. 6.980 or better to back up the 6.911 for a record. 4.2327/169.18 at the eighth on this run, the bike made a move left just past the eighth and then slid out from under Kev. The bike went through 1000 feet on its side at 150.06 mph, through the top end at 127.23 mph with Kev not far behind it and he slid to a stop just past the finish line. Kev went to sit up before he thought better of it and waited for the safety crew to arrive which they did very quickly having started to move as soon as the bike went out from under him. Word quickly came back that Kev is quite OK. The bike stopped sliding by the first exit in the shutdown area.

The ACU Comp Bike record of 7.049 seconds and 187.57 mph perforce there for the taking and there's a good start for Kev, 6.911 and that was shut off before 1000 feet. 4.239/175.36 at the eighth.

08:25 Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway for our coverage of the Extreme Performance Bike Weekend brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car. The Webster Race Engineering/Nimbus Motorsport webcam is on-line and will be broadcasting live video and trackside audio as long as the track is open. In the absence of Nitro FM this weekend we are taking the PA feed featuring commentary and SPR's legendary small set of CDs. Thanks to Maikel and our buddies at Doyousee.me for the provision of streaming services. The running order both today and tomorrow has sessions for Championships, Straightliners and Run What You Brung. We will of course bring you all the news from the ACU, UK National and NAST Championship sessions and Straightliners timekeeper Martyn has kindly offered to supply us with Straightliners results so thanks to him for that; we will post those at the end of each day.
