Andy Carter and Darryl Bradford faced off once today, with Bradford producing a huge fireball. The heat was intense as he passed the assembled photographers, but apparently it was an oil line that came adrift and there is little engine damage. In the other lane, Carter slowed and cruised to 7.22/125 - perhaps he was aware of Bradfords woes in the other lane. Roger Goring put in two passes in the Firestorm Jet Car, shutting off early on the first pass, but recording a good 6.48/245 on the second.
Pro ET racer Tig Napier cut a perfect light, but too late - the perfect light had already been won! On the way to the win in Super Street Bike, Steve Venables ran a seven second pass in every round, with a best of 7.829 in the first round, and a huge 196.86 mph in the final. All four semi finalists in Super Street Bike were seven second runners. In Supertwins Modified, Tony Legg, who set a new record yesterday, improved to 9.399 which was backed up sucessfully. Another rider to impress was Pro Stock Bikes Len Paget, running a personal best of 7.603 in the first round, and then a 7.668 in the final. Unfortunately for Len, he faced Dave Beck in the final, who ran 7.352 - his second run in the 7.3 zone of the day.
Ron Bartlett, who runs in both Super Gas and Pro ET had a great day, taking the win in Pro ET, and runner up spot in Super Gas. He recently made changes to the rear suspension in his Anglia, and it no longer launches with one wheel high in the air. It's not so dramatic now, but more sucessful. It was kind of appropriate for Fathers Day, as Barry Giles took the win in Super Pro ET, and his son Daniel took the win in Junior Dragster - congratulations to them both.
