An improvement for Dave moved him up a spot. Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 3 (left lane first): Steve Woollatt 13.179/54.08 bye, Ian Turburville 7.822/173.26, Rene van den Berg shut off 1.16 to sixty feet for Steve, looked from here to be going great guns until getting to the transition from the concrete where the front wheel thumped down and Steve shut off. Same as last time for Rene, engine stopped after the burnout. Qualifying after this session:
16:50 Nostalgia Fuel Altered Association test and tune session (left lane first): Tony Betts 10.305/77.35 bye, Paul Wratten 7.353/137.22 bye, Joe Bond 12.125/59.22 bye, John Wright 10.832/78.17 bye A cylinder out at the hit for Tony but it cleared up quickly, off the throttle before half track with cylinders out - it had all the appearance of a broken blower belt but either way a good straight pass to that point. A superb burnout from Paul, I can't say I've noticed the dual-element rear wing on the Flowtech-sponsored altered before. 0.99 to sixty feet, the car just squatted down and went. Looking good although drifting to the centre line, off the throttle just past half track. 1.0-second sixty foot for Joe, the car got to about 150 feet before hitting shake and making a move. Joe got off the throttle at that point. Serious front wheel shake for Chaos in the burnout. 1.1-second sixty foot time and then shake about 150 feet out where John shut off. 16:35 Super Modified qualifying after session 3:
An improvement for Tim but he stayed in place. Andy Hone into the standings with his first time of the day, followed through the lights in his lane by Nigel Payne whose Corvette swapped lanes taking out the 990 foot reflector. A bit of drama in the next pair too as Tim Mugridge having found his form again started to move around the lane and then the Camaro disappeared into a cloud of smoke. Tim did exactly the right thing by putting the chute out to hold the car straight and clocked 7.973. In the other lane Rob Smallworth moved into #2 spot. A nice match between Becky and Len to open the session, Len getting a big jump on Becky but Becky on imperious form to consolidate his #1 spot with a big improvement. Super Comp qualifying top five after session 3:
Improvements for Brian Pateman and Steve Wells who stayed in place but everyone was bumped down a spot by Paul Marston who took over the lead in the last run of the session. You're not seeing things, this was session two - no-one made it to the line in session 1. Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 2 (left lane first): Steve Woollatt 7.001/166.49 bye, Rene van den Berg shut off (bye), Ian Turburville 7.808/189.79 bye Steve's motor running for a fair while before he moved forward. A nice burnout and then it sounded as if the rear tyre was spinning most of the way, Steve shut off at about 900 feet. A good burnout for Rene but the motor stopped immediately after. Turbo closed the session, a feather of the throttle at half track but another big speed for Mister Spokehead. Qualifying after this session:

Dave Jones into #1 spot with his first run of the weekend. A PB for Andy Watson moved him up to #4 spot at that point, well done Andy! Dave's #1 spot lasted three runs as Chris Mott took over the lead in the last but one pair.
