A big pool of fluid under Steve Mead's bike during the burnout. From here looked like oil but here's hoping not. A grunting noise and a cloud of smoke from Graham Dance's motor at about 1000 feet, hopefully nothing untoward after G rodded a motor at Hockenheim last weekend. Good to see Nigel Barker back on track, 8.518 his return pass. Back into the sevens for Chris Reed, 7.984 good for seventh.

Good morning and welcome from Shakespeare County Raceway for our coverage of the Open Sport Nationals brought to you in association with American Car Imports.

The Webster Race Engineering/Lex Joon Racing US Tour 2009 webcam is on-line and is scheduled to post a picture every sixty seconds until the track closes on Sunday.

It's a very pleasant morning here at SCR, sun with high cloud and already quite warm. The weather station sensor is just getting used to its surroundings so we'll bring you a trackside report shortly.

No pit notes this weekend because Simon is on an exeat. Now, usually when I use a posh word like "exeat" people write and tell me what it means. Save your energy, I know what it means, that's why I used it.

Qualifying is due to start at 9:30 so stay tuned and as soon as the wheels start to turn we'll bring you the news.
