A wild ride for Wilf Stacey in his race against Steve Nash as his Zephyr got out of shape and at one point was up on
one wheel. Wilf did a great driving job and kept hold of it. Great to see Jon Webster back out on the track after his

Rene van den Berg 8.002/172.06 def. Steve Carey 9.106/172.30
Steve away first 0.299 to 0.425, but the bike appeared to sit down as it crossed the concrete/asphalt transition and made a move
to the right, Steve feathered the throttle and ran alongside the guardrail before pulling it back towards the middle of the lane,
meanwhile Rene was long gone with a straight pass, right through the back door and his first event win, well done Rene!
Steve Woollatt followed with a 6.493/221.83 checkout pass on his Top Fuel Bike.

Jon Webster took a spill on the shutdown area after his race with Fred Furlong. Jon walked to the ambulance and is A-OK, Tim
Blakemore Racing's bike ended up on its side in the field so hopefully, like Jon, took a soft landing and not damaged.
15:00
Outlaw Anglia eliminations round 1 winners:
Paul Wright 7.739/180.48, Cliff Griffin 8.865/150.64, Rob Stone 9.607/139.17, Richard Colby 9.463/149.20

Nostalgia Fuel Altered Association qualifying session 3 (left lane first):
Jim Usher 10.229/80.64 bye, John Wright no time, Tony Betts 9.269/146.29, Joe Bond shut off, Dave Grabham shut off,
Paul Wratten 7.258/146.76, Nick Davies 8.808/123.72, Joe Bond 10.134/85.25 bye
Shake marks off the line for Jim, 1.120 to sixty feet then 3.056 to 330 feet, off the throttle at that point.
Tony away first 0.188 to 0.355, 1.205 to sixty feet to John's 1.029 then all eyes on the Chaos altered as it
drifted to the right and then the right slick started to smoke and the car turned hard left and flipped over, rear ending
the guardrail and then flipping again on the rebound, coming to rest on its side at about 1200 feet. John is A-OK, has
been checked out in the Medical Centre and is fine.
Having confirmed that John and wife Lesley are OK, car owner Lawrie Gatehouse told us that the altered's body is damaged but that the
chassis of the car is fine apart from broken front A-arms. "That's why you have safety rules", he said. "The roll cage is fine
and it did exactly what it was meant to do. We just need to raid the piggy bank again and we'll be back out as soon as we can".
You have to feel for Joe and Dave sat strapped in behind the bleach box and getting a grandstand view of John's accident. No sign of
nerves from either though, great burnouts. Just as they pulled forward to stage the cars were shut off as the timing system had thrown
a wobbler. Paul and Nick brought forward to give Joe and Dave's cars time to cool down. Great burnouts and then Nick away first
0.123 to 0.198, Paul with the quicker sixty foot time 1.029 to 1.146, from here Nick looked to be driving
through shake although the altered went pretty straight, a long pedal and then back on the throttle to about half track.
A very straight run from Paul with a fair bit of clutch dust off the line, 4.388/155.34 at half track, off the throttle
and chutes out early. Looked like a starter motor failure for Dave so Joe took the bye for the re-run. 0.067 reaction,
1.003 to sixty feet and the car made a move towards the guardrail, getting into a little bounce and Joe pedalled, the
engine tried to zing when Joe got back on it so he shut off. Oil was found in Joe's lane and Roger at trackside reported
that pieces had come off the car.
Trackside conditions are 20.2 C, 74% humidity and 29.74 inches of air, track temperature 26.3 C
