Kev Slyfield NTR. Kev had a gearbox selection issue earlier which was resolved relatively easily. After a 1.0597 launch the car turned left and the rear axle had skewed with tyre shake causing it to crab across the centre line and down the track. He turned off safely but the team have work to do on the axle.

Jimmy Ålund 5.9281/240.32 v Andy Robinson broke. No brakes for Andy radioed through by crew chief Mark Balzaretti, his car pushed back. Much better for Jimmy after gearshift problems in Q1, 0.9985 and 3.8946/192.16 incrementals for Jimmy. Welcome back to crew chief and owner Magnus Petersson.

Marck-Harteveld 6.0357/238.92 v David Vegter. David had transmission problems with oil leaks from the shifter, shut off after his burnout. Marck had a little pedal after 330ft, 0.9938 launch and 3.9704/188.94.
David refired but the run won't count in qualifying. He ran 5.9129/243.67 (1.0004 60ft and 3.8931/193.78).

Nitro Funny Car Cup qualifying after session 1
Patrik Pers 7.6602/96.51 v Steve Ashdown NTR. Steve not spinning the tyres on the burnout. Patrik 0.9523 to 60ft then got close to the left wall, 5.2135/92.54. Patrik's team said he was aiming for a 60ft on the throttle, and suffered tyre shake. Steve blazed the tyres instantly, 1.4801 to 60ft and by then the blower had lifted with a pop and flash of flame, the chutes deployed by the Electromotive system.
Jason Phelps 5.5889/139.40 v Kevin Kent 5.2614/137.01. Kevin 0.9574 then tyre shake at 200ft out and the car made a move to the left as his left wheel departed the axle. The car, or the wheel, recorded 3.7304/164.92 to the eighth. Kevin did a great job of keeping the car in his lane and bringing it to a safe halt. The wheel went into Jason's lane and bounced off his car, Jason 1.0359 to 60ft and 4.0110/159.07 to the eighth. On hold for recovering Kevin's car, the medics checking him out and cleanup in Kevin's lane in the shutdown area. Kevin's run DQ's for his wheel crossing the centre line.

Daniel Giles reversing at the usual sedate pace to remain in his burnout tyre tracks, then another ultra consistent 7.4152 on 7.41 in #3. 7.7957/172.36 on 7.74 for Jack Williams, no improvement in #23.
Jack Brewster had to repair his wheelie bars after the chutes became wrapped around them, a relatively straight 7.9047/179.16, up from #29 to #27. Angel Romero 7.8684/176.42 on 7.85, very consistent. Nick Good's blown alky dragster 6.8603/190.58 in #6. Ron Bartlett with nitrous 7.9452/172.37 v Bj�rn Rom�ren-Hultberg 8.9876/150.62 in #22 and #12 respectively.
Patrick Dubois had tyre shake off the startline, the car went sideways by 60ft and lifted. Andy Thetford had to change his transmission yesterday evening, crewman Phil Toppin had to collect a replacement, however the car failed to get into the burnout and Andy was towed back to the pits.

Good morning and welcome to day 2 of our coverage of the 2023 FIA/FIM-E Euro Finals from Santa Pod Raceway. Like yesterday the sky has high cloud and temperatures are currently 15C and forecast to go to a sweltering 28C. The wind is a negligible 9mph from the south east. Density altitude from airdensityonline.com, is currently 1350ft and is predicted to rise to 2600ft or so, with 78-98 grains of water, about the same as yesterday. We will report on the KEG traction readings at the top of each day's page, starting with Thursday's measurements for which we have updated yesterday's report.
We completed qualifying earlier than planned yesterday as there was practically no downtime, and some teams elected to pass some sessions to allow their cars to cool down. Today we will have two rounds of pro qualifying and three more rounds of sportsman qualifying.
