The rain has restarted and the radar shows there is more due later. So today's racing is called, and the four classes that are left to run in session 2 will be run from 09:15 tomorrow before eliminations commence. The classes that still need to run their session two of qualifying are Outlaw Flat Four (two pairs), Sportsman ET, ET Bike and VW Sportsman.

Outlaw Flat Four qualifying session 2
Vito Versluys came to the side of the track as Danny Pike went from #6 to #1 on another wandering run, then drama after the finish line following deploying his chute when the car went sideways and hit the right and then the left wall. Danny is out of the car, alert and conscious and is being checked out in the medical centre. We're currently on hold and will let you know about a restart time.

New supercharged '71 Mustang for Roy Walker, who was testing yesterday, starting with a 10.00 dial but capable of much more as he is just running it in. Chloe Wilkins with 0.009 RT. Then Darren Law v Allan Schofield. Third pair Marie Mills v Andy Garnett, Andy into #2 at that point. Then Tom Kaye and Ronnie Mercer into #1 with +0.0053 on his dial. Tig Napier with 0.007 RT and a great wheelie to #5. Warren Watts into #2 v Mason Griffiths. Championship leader Brett Featherstone into #2 v 30 year veteran Bob Molden next, then Will Clark and John Bean into #3.
Lee Huxley v Marc Huxley in a fraternal matchup overseen by Dad Brian, Lee takes the #2 spot as Marc into #5. Then Dave Fulton (#2 in the championship) v Geoff Cowley, mid placed in Q1. Dave Cherrett with a quick 9.71 dial-in v Neill Watkins, Dan Fulton v Tom Watkins into #3, Kieran Turner 0.005 RT v James Oliver who broke something on launch and idled down the track. Good morning and welcome to day 1 of our coverage of the STP National Finals from Santa Pod Raceway. The weather is a crisp 9C forecast to rise to 16C with wind of 13mph from the north. Density altitude is forecast to be 400ft to 900ft with around 53 grains of water, good conditions for running.
Today's plan is for three qualifying sessions going right up to the curfew time of 8pm, it will be a busy day and as usual weather and track conditions will have their part to play.
Testing yesterday produced some good times across all classes. Notable in Pro Modified were 6.2290 238.92 from Kev Slyfield and 6.2999/232.46 from Jon Webster. Kev is a contender for the Pro Modified champion in second place behind sponsor Andy Robinson, and you can see our thoughts on potential championship outcomes in our 21st September news update. There is a huge field of 328 vehices so some surprises will be inevitable.
