Al Smith broke v Rene van den Berg 6.0557/246.37. Rene first with the burnout and Al doing his usual short burnout before the start line. PB for Rene 1.0610 to 60ft and 4.0215/201.99 to half track. Al's bike shed a small part and cut out immediately he twisted the throttle.

Motorsport UK Pro Modified qualifying session 2
Jean Dulamon out first 6.1677/223.33 with a lot of smoke at the top end, 1.0481 to 60ft and 4.0255/189.50 to half track. We fear more work for the team overnight.
Andy Robinson's first run of the event, after oil pressure issues solved, 6.0881/216.90, nice straight pass to go #1, 0.9903 to 60ft and 3.929/189.48 to half track as points leader Michel Tooren was towed back to the pits. Pause for track inspection.
On the restart, Wayne Nicholson and Jon Webster paired up. Wayne's car stayed still whilst Jon didn't quite bump into full stage, the bubls flickered for a couple of seconds and then he took the green, went to the left 1.0561 to 60ft and then lifted before half track 4.5407/133.75 and 8.2574/108.46. Wayne pushed back for another attempt.
We then had more rain so qualifying was on hold until 17:50.
On the later restart Wayne Nicholson ran a 6.5015/217.19 solo, 1.0406 to 60ft and 4.2609/175.00, straight and dare we say softish run for Wayne.
Bobby Wallace 5.9349/241.61 v Nick Davies 5.9893/242.53 for Bobby to go #1. Incrementals .9813 and 3.9090/192.06 for Bobby, 1.0371 and 3.9636/193.44 for Nick, both cars straight down the track.

Improvement in times for Nick Hale and Ricky Hale, both stayed in position. Andy Bond and Ash Cooper also improved and stayed in position. Great runs for Tony Higgs, back in the sevens and Mark Sheridan - and stayed in position.
Elliott Day had a big improvement and moved up to #6. Al McSweeney ran a great 7.673/181.38 but his chutes not deploying correctly made for a wild ride in the shut down area as before, Al again coming to a safe halt but a scary moment.

Then Louis Davis to #1 v Roger Moore whose bike left more leisurely than previously. Followed by Eric Richard from France and Maarten Zijlstra from the Netherlands, great to see more overseas visitors, Maarten waited for 11.5s on the line and then made a solid pass.

Daniel Lencses with a great pass after four 6.8s in testing yesterday, Dave Smith lifted after a problematic start. Then Mark Hope v Mark Dainty, wheelies for both and Mark D. lifted. Then Steve Wood v Steve Venables, Ven straight down to a great pass to go #2 as Woody had a foul start and pushed back. Then the Netherlands pair of Thurtny v Rudolfo who lost gear and then went sideways on the launch.
Garry Bowe v Ross Morrison, Ross continued his improvement with a great 7.09 as Garry lifted after getting into a wheelie after half track. Steve Mead v Al Morrison Jnr next, then Jake Mechaell on a solo to go into #2.

Later the engine in Darryl's car was found to have a hole in the block however the diaper prevented any fluid on track. Commiserations team and we hope you will be out soon with a new powerplant.

Good morning and welcome to day 1 of our coverage of the STP Summer Nationals from Santa Pod Raceway. The current weather is mostly cloudy with a temperature of 15C rising to 16C later in the day. Density altitude supplied by airdensityonline.com is currently around 700ft and is forecast to be 900-1000 ft during today.
Thanks to Julian and Birthday Girl Diana for galleries from yesterday's testing. Julian reported it was a busy day with several quick passes. Quickest of all was Pro Mod racers Jean Dulamon (6.1745/197.14) and Bobby Wallace (6.3017/237.32), with Top Fuel Bike racers Neil Midgley (6.6229/146.23) and Al Smith (6.6338/160.16) showing great promise for the event. Also a notable performance from Santa Pod Raceway CEO Keith Bartlett who had a couple of mid eight second passes in his Mercury Comet (8.3006/157.96 the quickest), we wonder when Keith will be in Street Eliminator with it?
