Renegade Outlaw Anglia qualifying session 1
Garry Hill v Spencer Tidswell, Ben Montgomery v Ronnie Mercer into #1, Ian Tweddle v Al O'Connor, Barry Woodford whose car stopped off the line and then was timed out as he made his run v Luke Hoskins, Barnaby Levy from Ireland v Wayne Power, then welcome back to Simon Barlow who is looking for 200mph, engine cutting out intermittently on the pass. Andy Cunningham made a solo then welcome back also to Paul Watson with Grumpy's Toy 2 (street legal), Martyn Payne, then Paul Hensher with nitrous purge but not a full power run. Nathan Barlow (Simon's newphew who travelled over from the US for the event) towed back to the pits.
Ben Rushforth into #1 at that stage. Rob Nixon with a nice launch, not too wild for him. Then Phil 'Ginner' Middleton to #1 on his first pass for quite some time. Last car to run Colin Millar, fantastic run, 6.9851/194.56 just short of his speed record by 0.2mph, 1.0620 to 60ft and 4.4712/157.95, what a way to end day 1 of Dragstalgia! Jedd Guy was on the startline without his race suit on, so we wait to see him run tomorrow.

Then Steve Johnson (Motor Mouse slingshot) 7.203/194.71, lifting on the launch and then getting back on it with a slight wiggle down the track, team finding a baseline.
Duncan Beard (SO Thundergod 23T altered), usual driver Des Taylor going for a jog to back the car up, 8.730/144.85, nice pass! Then Colin Wood (Husky) 11.640/117.30 v Robert Wright (23T altered) 9.817/136.95. Yenko Nova to 10.229/137.38, nice launch. Seeing it run rolls the 40+ years back, look for pics in our gallery later this evening.

The plan for today is for pre-1980 cars to run in run what ya brung from 0930 to 1700 with lunch and dinner breaks in between, then qualifying beginning at 1700 with each of the invited car classes. The Custom Car Invitational has been limited to around 20 cars due to pit space restrictions and these will have today plus three sessions each of Saturday and Sunday.
Those of you visiting SPR will have the benefit of the event programme which lists all the classes and includes the first of the awards to be made over the course of the weekend, which is the Pete Crane Spirit of '76 Award for outstanding contributions to Nostalgia Racing in the UK, to acknowledge those involved in shaping the nostalgia racing scene of today. Many congratulations go to Nick Pettitt who has produced a series of Time Travel videos documenting the history of the sport and hot rodding, also his web site British Drag Racing & Hot Rod Archive, magazine articles, a book on the early days of the sport, and articles for Eurodragster.com on the pioneers of the sport. It is a richly deserved award for someone who is modest about his considerable achievements and to whom we all owe a debt of gratitude to his never-ceasing efforts.
Greetings to Eurodragsterholics tuned into the coverage, especially Cath and Tig Napier who as Bad Habit Racing have posted a special Perfect Light award for the event. Also greetings to Perfect ET award sponsors Andy and Haley Hadfield and the Twister Race Team who are tuned in from home, missing their first Dragstalgia since its inception - love and best wishes to you guys.
We will start soon so stay tuned.
