Some class cars came out for practice with Tom Herbert 13.8004/96, Marc Taylor 11.148/127.37, Jacob Kopasz 14.4488, he will be in RWYB mode tomorrow as he did not make the 11.99 cutoff. Jose Leite pushed back after another engine problem, better discover it now rather than tomorrow.
Williams brothers made another run, 10.64 for Nic with the Impala in the great conditions. Dave McCallan with the pickup a consistent 8.9985/148.19, followed by Des 'Conehunter' Taylor checking adjustments to a straight-as-a-dye 8.7455/150.06, slight wobble at the top end. Gary Carr a 9.732/149.54 with a pedal off the line. Billy Jones the last to go down the track with 10.596/124.43. Andy Raw had a straight burnout and reversed ca/refully in his tracks, staged in the centre of his lane. Half track effort, 8.638/99 and 1.070 60ft time straight to 4.624/124 half track time but off it before then.
Next was Simon Barlow, also with Karl Harrison as crew chief.7.782/179.21 and 1.1465 to 60ft, with a couple of corrections.

Renegade Outlaw Anglia qualifying session 3
Mick Taylor first out, 8.106/168.54, crewman Paul Watson saying that a lot of attention had been paid to the nitrous system for it to be lee manual activation with lower sevns planned. Colin Millar to 8.2470/128.69, lifting at the top end and a tiny pedal on the launch. Ben Kennedy and Doug Mclure were next, followed by Jedd Guy and Jon Webster, nitrous vs blown, both contenders for a six. 7.415/177 for Jedd, 7.324/185 for Jon, tyre shake for both and late chutes for Jon. Wheelie for Rob Nixon against Spencer Tidswell, Ted Booth last car with 9.4459/142.49, one of the Mighty Mouse's quickest and with nitrous.

Paul Dale and Simon Boot first out, Paul's Anglia dislodging a 1000' reflector on a DQ'd 9.327/106 to Simon's 9.466/143.96 with the rear wing flapping. Dave McCallan and Gary Parkes, 8.998/147 to 7.876/172.42 for Gary with the wing exiting from Gary's altered. Mick Checkett went straighter to 7.367/185.85, now Mick's getting really consistent.
The T altereds of Des Taylor and Fadster next, Andy happy to be back in the sevens. Dry hops to the start line (we like) and 7.6958/176.43, nicely controlled as Des's Thundergod displaced both the 1000' and 1320' blocks to go to a DQ'd 8.534/177.22. Pause for block collection and disposal/replacement.
After the restart Paul Watts and Andy Park, 9.799/136 as Paul slowed.

First pair Gary Car 8.86 on 8.82 to go..17th. Nic Williams backed up after his burnout. Then Dodge Demon and Plymouth Duster of Pete Christmas and Kiwi, Kiwi up from 16th to 6th with a 9.805. Nic Williams problem solved but still in 32nd, fortunately 32 cars here so he will be in eliminations. Next Don Scott and Gary Cork, both remained in unchanged positions and Don back in the nines to break out.
James Oliver and Neil Frances, Neil up to 2nd from 27th alongside another huge wheelie from James. Jake Cawthorne and Nick Martin stayed in the same positions. Next was Colin Theobald in Bruce, going 10.8832 on 10.87 to go to fifth, great run Colin! A couple of pairs later Adam Nowak and Chris Layram, Chris into 2nd from 21st. Claire Johnson and Rob Tyrell. Dave Billadeau now in the nines, against Simon Rickwood, Dave up to 10th with a 9.922. Lee Chiles up to 3rd.

Richie Webb stopped on track after burnout, pushed back by hard-working marshals, leaving Jacob Kopasz to solo in one of his first runs in the Mk4 Golf, but still not quick enough.
Nigel Hull lifted and pulled over as Paul Jordan went 10.2979/143.99, great pass, up from 12th to 3rd! Andy Turner's first run alongside Jose Leite, neither run the necessary 11.99 or quicker.

Roy Wilding towed back to pits, let's hope his car's problem gets fixed. Simon Boot's first run of the season, gentle pass. Andy Hadfield straighter on the burnout, Purdie in the role of back up girl, Andy off the throttle at half track after tyre shake with his new combo and a pop at the top end.
Doug Bond's first run with Martyn Hannis behind the car, first time competitively in a dragster since 2003, soft launch, off and on the throttle and a little wander as he got used to the car. Mick Checkett next in his small block slingshot, straight run to 7.4277//185, new PB, great stuff Mick and team!
Next was Des Taylor's Thundergod altered (car owned by Duncan Beard) and Dave McCallan's '68 C10 pickup, eights for both, we think Des's best at 8.909/155, nice pair of runs. Keith Freeman and Luke Watts.

Marc Taylor had to go home to get a new inlet manifold after one was destroyed yesterday. Nigel Hull in front, on the verge of the tens as Carl Goldsmith slowed from his usual performance. Dave Lea with a nitrous engine first run, James Hodson in the final pair wnt to #1. Only 10 of 27 entered have gone quicker than the 11.99 cutoff point.

Next were Steve Garlant and Andy Stones in the rebuilt 'Frantic' Jag V12 Topolino, times 13.8995/98.17 and 11.4712/111.66. Followed by Alan Skipp and Matt Hollins, both first meetings out in their respective cars, the new Chasin' Time going 14.2118/80.66 to Matt's 11.3465/131.41. Brian Watson ran 'Interest Free' to a 12.8335/78.32. Later James Tanner went 10.1543/141.14 in Shindigger.
There was a great representation from Outlaw Street, now boasting over 100 members, Dave Mohoney running his best for the weekend 9.0978/148.14 against Owen Forrest 11.1205/120.09 toward the end of the session, and Russ's Dutton going its quickest of 9.0967/147.60 yesterday and 9.2393/143.07 this morning. Also of note Andy Nichols ran a PB in his FWD Civic coupe of 9.675/149mph.

Renegade Outlaw Anglia qualifying session 1
Good to see Paul Watson crewing for the Banshee team, Mick Taylor going #1. Jon Webster's run went left at 60ft after 1.035 launch, he pedalled to 8.331/150, the potential is there but keeping these quick cars in the middle of the groove is a huge challenge. Doug McClure with a great rear paint job. Great run for Gary Bird, wandering slightly but kept it firmly in the middle.
Adam Cuthbert's blown car went straight as Peter Butler rolled the beams and didn't get a time. Ben Kennedy crewed by Matthew Wright pushed back as GArry Hill went down the track. Next Eurodragster.com sponsor Jedd Guy with Shorty's Hot Rod now powered by the ex Roger Moore PM engine of 735ci, no nitrous purge so a test run, went right, corrected to a good 7.625/176, fellow sponsor Jeff Bull on the team this weekend.
Colin Millar purged his nitrous as Ben Kennedy was sent back once again, Colin spinning the tyres at the hit and feathering it down the track.

Supercharged Outlaws qualifying session 1
Andy 'Fadster' Hadfield went to the left on the launch until 60ft, lifted and got back on it, great to see him back after late night propshaft repairs. Next were Keith Freeman and Andy Park, Andy going 9.788 to go #1. Dave McCallan nice straight 8.946/149.61 to take the #1 spot. Followed by Gary Parkes and Mick Checkett, both having done well in testing, running 7s. Mick headed right and lifted as Gary went 7.811/176.46 for another PB, well done Gary and team!
Paul Dale in Acute Angle, team in smart Lucas Oil shirts and the car with a Union Jack roof, hesitation at the start, possibly fuel delivery issues, more to come. Next Steve Wright's AMC Pacer, nice straight run, Bob Glassup on the team for this event. Followed by a Isle of Wight Watts match-up with the pickup and '57 Chevy, Luke in the Chevy having a little smoke to a great 8.624/144.95
Robbie Grabham next as Simon Boot towed back to pits. Fantastic run for Robbie, 7.055/193 and 1.103 and 4.547/157 incrementals! Little wander in the second half but nicely controlled, well done Robbie, Dave and team!

First pair Nick Barnett and Ted Booth, then Jason Hollamby and Tom Margesson. Gasser Circus qualifying on dial-in, Nick into #1 and Tom into #2 in the new Pop. Mick Allen's Corvette pushed back for a leak and Ray Irish ran a single. Tony Pearson pushed back with engine problems. Sean Milsom lifting the front wheels to go into #3 at that point. 'Nervous' Nick Brooke Langham in his own '48 Austin Devon against Brian Gibson, Brian into #1 and Nick into #3. Final runner was Billy Jones in a Willys Coupe.

NEM Plant Nostalgia Super Stock qualifying session 1
The first pair were Gary Carr and Dan Williams, Williams brothers passing up on testing yesterday. Dan into #1 as Gary ran one of his quickest ETs, 8.8467. Then Lee Chiles took the #1 position in the next pair with +0.0549 on his 9.87 dial. Nic Williams with a -0.003 RT but no Perfect awards this weekend.
Grace Roaf crewing for Don Scott who went #1 with +0.0339 on a 10.00 dial. Then Colin Theobald alongside James Oliver, Colin into #3 with +0.1021 on a 10.95 dial, not bad for a once-a-year racer! Glynn Boardman went into 3rd a couple of pairs later, followed by Dave Billadeau into 2nd. Breakout for Adam Nowak with a 10.835 on an 11.00, Adam not being around for testing yesterday. Last to run Ty Strevett in his 383ci Dart.

Good morning, and welcome to day 2 of our coverage of VW Breakout from Santa Pod Raceway.
The weather played ball yesterday up until around 15:30 when we had a few spots of rain, the RWYB session starting about an hour later. Today is looking good with high cloud, temperature 15C rising to 19C, and negligible wind.
There will be class qualifying today for our five featured classes and RYWB including Wild Bunch, which we will try to report separately as this is a round of the Wild Bunch Championship. There will also be FireForce (FF3 and FF5 were spotted in the pits yesterday).
There was little to report yesterday by way of mechanical carnage, however I understand that Ray Turner of Gasser Circus has had to withdraw his Green Onions Chevy following engine problems. We feared that sponsor Andy 'Fadster' Hadfield had big mechanical problems when Twister came to an abrupt halt on launching. Fadster was able to get a replacement prop shaft and tail shaft oil seal to fit his TH400 gearbox and fit it by this morning, so we will see him back on track today.
