On the burnout the chutes popped out as the car came to a halt, and Andy was quickly prevented from reversing over them. Car pushed back and will undoubtedly be back later. We're now on a lunch break.

Good morning and welcome to day 2 of our coverage of VW Action and the Doorslammers from Santa Pod Raceway. It's dry but cloudy here with temperature 15C and forecast to rise to 20C with tail wind of 11mph.
Yesterday was a mixture of Run What Ya Brung for mainly VWs and Outlaw Street, with test runs for those entered in the Williams Bros Racing Big Bracket and open qualifying for the five race classes. Today will be more open qualifying together with the first of the two Big Bracket competitions, racers will be competing for a winner's prize of 2,500 with runner up getting 1,000 and semi final losers 500 and quarter final losers 250. As pairings will be drawn at random we will report on each round as it happens, with buy-backs from first round losers subject to a race to determine who goes through to the second round.
Qualifying positions at the end of yesterday for the heads-up race classes are at the top of yesterday's report. We will update those at lunchtime and at the end of the day before the draw for first round pairings takes place at 20:30 at the announcement area by the Pod Shop, this draw will be live streamed via Santa Pod's Youtube and Facebook pages.
There were many PBs yesterday which we highlighted in our race report, but of all the runs it was Bruno Bader's that reminded us that it is international competition our sport thrives on, and hope there will be much more of that in 2022. Big efforts were made to attract European racers, but Covid restrictions and governments' red tape have made it difficult for the moment, we can't wait for these issues to be surmounted.
Greetings to all Eurodragsterholics who are following the coverage. We would like to send a special Happy Birthday greeting to the first racer to ever go down the Santa Pod strip, Harold Bull who reaches his 97th birthday today and we saw at Dragstalgia enjoying the racing. Have a great day Harold.
Racing is scheduled to start at 09:30, we will bring you the action from then, and you can keep up with SPR's live feed as well.
