Good morning and welcome to the first day of our coverage from the NSRA Hot Rod Drags at Santa Pod Raceway. The weather is dry with clouds and temperature 16C forecast to rise to 20C with a headwind of 11mph.

Today's racing will be Run What Ya Brung to 5pm which we will comment on where we can identify the cars involved. One car we saw as we came in the gate to SPR is the dual engined slingshot of Norm Wheeldon 'Too Much' which we look forward to seeing on track, with its incredible burnouts and wild runs. We also heard that the seven second 'Thundergod' altered driven by Des Taylor will be raced today by the car's owner and crew Duncan Beard and we wish Duncan well on his maiden voyage in it.

Also for today thanks to Alan Martin of NSRA we hear there will be an award for the quickest ET and the most number of runs. We'll report on those at the end of our race report.

Welcome to Eurodragsterholics who are tuned in, including our sponsor and Photo Finish supporter Bob Roberts and Kai Plathan from Finland with the faithful Otto. No Nitro FM today but there is a live stream from the usual link and both will be broadcasting tomorrow and Sunday. So if you want to keep up with today's action, keep am eye on this page or why not book a ticket for the track?
