16:40 Top Fuel Dragster match race 3 Antti Horto unable to make the call due to bodywork damage on the previous run, Susanne Callin's team started the car, she made the burnout, then the safety system shut the car off for a mechanical issue and deployed the parachute. The team pushed the car back, disappointed, but they will be back later today as a quick check revealed the car will be able to be restarted. On the restart, after Susanne had remained strapped in the car for at least 30 minutes, the car launched ok but spun the wheels short of 60ft, Susanne off the throttle immediately, 1.0413 to 60ft, 10.0597/81.68 to 1000ft. Jet cars session 5 Martin Hill (Fireforce 3 Jet FC) 5.3764/232.54 def. Julian Webb (Split Second jet dragster) 5.7285/209.18 (1000ft). Julian off the line first, 0.1736 to 0.2016. 15:05 Taylors Trophy Super Street Bike eliminations round 1 Alex Hope with a fantastic 7.0986/209.13 run to defeat brother Mark who ran 7.2079/204.17, however a huge cloud of smoke in the shut down area marked major mechanical damage for Alex, Alex keeping the bike upright. After the clean up Steve Mead won in the lane Alex's bike oiled, with some slippage along the track. Steve Venables ran a fantastic 6.8008/218.95 for a new ACU speed record and first half of an ET record! Al Morrison's new PB 7.12 beat a new PB for Jake Mechaell, well done all!
14:25 Gasser exhibition run Santa Pod CEO Keith Bartlett took Roarin' Rat blown '57 Chevy to a new PB of 10.8028/124.59, well done Keith and we look forward to seeing what the opposition have to offer! 14:15 Lucas Oil Junior eliminations round 2 Below index for Daniel Weir in his win over a breaking-out Purdie Hadfield. Holeshot win for Caitlin Wilson.
14:15 Peter Nee Super Pro ET eliminations round 2 Bye for Tom Atkinson as Kieran Astley was a no-show. Holeshot win for Barry Giles against Bob Doyle. Jack Brewster staged way to the left of the groove, pointing towards the wall, but left early and feathered the throttle. Another best for Phil Toppin, 8.5889/156.81, but pulled a cherry against Ron Bartlett who made another run close (just below) to his dial in. Double red light for Billy Gane and Scott Hauser, Scott won by first or worst.

Dave Crowhurst purging the nitrous through the nose of the Beetle, another low 10 for Dave winning against Paul Jackson. Great to see Carl Goldsmith back after another overnight rebuild but loses to Lee Cordery. Paul Bargate a no-show after a broken half shaft in the shut down area yesterday. James Hodson with 'New engine - running in' on his rear window, explaining the car's performance off more than a second. In the other lane, Guy Folley in Team Bubble Golf was pushed back.

Al McSweeney a no-show against Elliot Day, Al not making the cruise (16 year olf Elliot had Dad Dave as his chauffeur for the cruise). Nick Hale pulled away from Joe Stevens who had problems down the track.

Double red light for Jacqueline Bartlett and Daniel Weir, Jacqueline going red first.

Crazy burnout for the Crew Killer and JT, looking forward to seeing the photos of that. First ever round win for Kieran Astley in his rear engined dragster. Mark Bailey out with transmission issues against Ron Bartlett who nevertheless runs a 0.0026 RT and 8.2209 on 8.21 dial! Barry Giles with a 0.007 RT, holeshot win for him. Alan Didwell's engine didn't start against Nick Good. Callum Swinchatt a no-show against Jack Brewster, more track time for the new Just Mustard, the car going left.

Leigh Morris in for John Bean whose transmission expired, Allan Schofield losing his first competitive drag race to former champion Leigh. Geoff Cowley in for Alfie Wratten who broke, against Mark Turner's first race as a competitor, and Mark's first ever round win.

The weather is cloudy with temperature of 14C forecast to rise to 20C by mid afternoon. There is mist at the far end of the track but hope that will clear so that we can start racing at 09:30. Qualifying was done and dusted yesterday with all six scheduled sessions having completed. Today will consist of sportsman eliminations and jets and nitro cars and bikes scheduled to run at 11:20 and 15:00. Yesterday's action included new ACU Funny Bike provisional records by Stuart Crane, and first half of ACU Super Street Bike speed record by Steve Venables, which needs to be backed up within 1% to become official. Neil Midgley on the Cannon Engineering Super Twin, running in Top Fuel Bike we saw a 6.28, the bike's best ET so far, but burning the combustion chamber in the process. On the car side, the Funny Cars provided plenty of excitement, and in a Top Fuel Dragster match race, Antti Horto ran what we think is the quickest ever eighth mile incremental seen in Europe. In Pro Mod, Nick Davies ran his first five on a far from straight pass, so more to come there. We wish all race teams well for today's action.
