Darren Peart on his best run this weekend, 8.0095/168.57 well done Darren! Laurie Bamford on his third run assisted by the Williams Bros and Keith Williams ran a great wheelstand and the car ran cleanly to 10.5608/126.64. Next was Glynn Boardman to a solo 10.5064/128.67, quickest of the weekend for him. Duncan Cannonball Watts in the ex Pro Stock car went 8.9524/150.18. Announced that RWYB closes at 16:10. Dave Simcock 10.0720/131.78.

Wild Bunch qualifying and elimination combo round 4
Antony Coolliver improving to a 11.10, Bobby Wright +0.004 on his dial, Wrathchild towed back to the pits and Rob Brown not able to run this round. Pete Brown in Rebel, double breakout on his pass with Callum Swinchatt. Ollie H-Smith +0.0059 on his dial-in. Mark Coulsell unable to start Ballbreaker, first breakage for a very long time.
Malibu Express with Jeff Morris next out for its maiden checkout pass, Jeff was part of the team that built and run the original Malibu Express in 1969 which is now Chris Hartnell's Backdraft. Jeff's wife Sharon was very much part of the team and packed several teams' chutes as well as going on the startline after a ban on women doing so was lifted in the late 60s. Malibu Express 3 is stunning creation using a Roy Wilding chassis and blown alky engine built by Jeff over a period of 6-7 years. Engine started but when selecting the gear to forward go into a burnout, the reverse was selected and the car went slowly back stopping at the door of the Barn. The team and Ian Marshall were fine to have another attempt. Engine sounded great, quick chirp over the start line and then properly into reverse to line up. Overstaged, reversed, edged forward. Jeff launched at low revs, idled and was off the throttle by 330ft. We look forward to seeing Jeff and Malibu Express back at the track in 2021.

See below the overall standings for times this session. Gary Parkes and Purple Daze 23T altered v Dave McCallan's pickup first up, pair of nice straight runs. Keith Freeman in a high revving burnout and Geoff Hawksworth next, Geoff in the 9.1s normally but lifted on this one. Then Mick Checkett (SO77) and Joe Bond (SO426). Greetings to regular crew chief Martyn Hannis who can't be here this event. Joe was turning the tyres down the track and lifted at 1000ft.

Sean Milsom in his Morris Van Gasser (GC47) went 10.0199/133.75. Scott Collin in a series of passes, very consistent 10.5s and 10.6s at 127-128mph. Steve Gotz in the Frite who has run a huge number of runs and burnouts here, it turns out the tyres are truck remoulds into slicks which have lasted five years, we were thinking he'd bought ten sets of slicks to the track!

No times and speeds recorded for Craig Greenfield and Pete Brown. Rob Brown in Rebel went 8.5238 on a 8.54. Brian Watson very close to the wall but not lifting, Antony Colliver first time into the tens well done Antony! Mark Hartnell in Backdraft again, went to the left at 60ft and drove out of it. Another good run in the 8.8s for Mick Hillier, Graham Rawlings in the nines, as he has been all this event. Another 160mph pass for Mark Coulsell. Dan Boone not able to find reverse, drove down the track, as Callum Swinchatt runs another 8.7s run. Jim Tanner best run of the weekend, 9.4966 and PB for speed 149.90, well done Jim and team!

Geoff Hawksworth improved by three tenths from 10th to 8th. Joe Bond back with engine repairs completed against Dave Grabham. 6.2933/226.67 for Joe, fantastic run and kicks his PB into next week, 1.0053 to 60ft and 4.1324/181.17 to half track, well done Joe, Doug and team! Tim Roy pushed back with front axle woes, new PB for Mick Hillier, well done Mick and team. Nice ET for Andy Stones. Wayne Colliver staged to the lft side, nice correction and 9.58 to Jim Tanner's 9.71 on 9.80. Pete Brown in Rebel, good 8.45 on 8.54 dial, remember competition is based on average variance to dial so no breakouts at this stage. 161mph for Mark Coulsell new PB for speed, well done Mark. Callum Swinchatt a great run 8.7509/147.61. Chris Hartnell, wheelied to a 8.6204/153.57 new PB, well done Chris, Claire and team! Brian Watson on a 9.33 dial runs 9.88.

Anglia P012 with wheelie bars and tow bar, twisting launch running twelves and an immaculate look. Beavis Allen (PT059) to a 10.3640/131.67 (best this event 10.224/132.44). New PB for Dave Cherrett, 9.6127/137.29, well done Dave and Steve! Frite of Steve Gotz (373) late out, missing top gear to 12.7014/108.86; 17 runs for the Frite this weekend with a best of 10.2623/125.95. Dave Simcock 9.5130/142.56 but cloud of smoke in the shutdown area. White 100e van (P15), immaculate car to a 14.59/92 on its first run. Bobby Wright in the WB42 Alturd, nicely controlled launch to 10.075/137.29. Another 100e Prefect in light brown (P16) with supercharger at the front pushed back. Alfie Wratten (199) to 9.3573/142.12, best time so far, 1.3058 60ft, well done Alfie and team!

Then Colin Millar, triple nitrous purge becoming the norm, another on the line, 7.045/178.54 for first half of a new ET record (7.1157 or better required for backup), 1.0677 to 60ft and 4.5009/157.27 at the eighth, well done Colin! Speed indicates slightly early shutoff.

Wild Bunch qualifying and elimination combo round 1
The Wild Bunch will run against dial-in, with the closest against dial-in being ranked. Jim Tanner in Shindigger blown slingshot pushed back in this session. Tim Roy in the V12 Boston Straggler passing up on a burnout, just a quick spin to clean the tyres, but rolled the beams so no time for Tim. In the next pair Dan Jones in Ragin Cajun rolled the beams. Brian Watson a great run to 9.8670/129.51. Another 160mph timeslip for Mark Coulsell who achieved this milestone yesterday for the first time. Callum Swinchatt on a new PB of 8.7422/146.17 as Steve Heaven couldn't get the car to the line in time following his burnout. Chris Manning in the Villain slingshot with a 6.97 dial-in, straight run and new PB on speed at 203.38 in 7.0751, well done Chris and team! Mark Hartnell in Backdraft for this session, great run against Rebel which was wandering around a lot and Pete Brown did well to keep it under control at 150mph. Dan Boone made a move to the right and only just missed the blue area, 6.00 dial for him. Then second chance for Jim Tanner and Steve Heaven and both made clean, if not exactly straight, runs.

Good morning and welcome to the final day of our John Woolfe Racing-sponsored coverage of the 32nd NSRA Hot Rod Drags. The weather is again very pleasant here at Santa Pod Raceway, with just a few light clouds and the temperature 14C (60F) rising to 20C (68F) with wind of 13mph.
With a tail wind and favourable temperatures, yesterday was another day when many personal bests were broken. You can see today's timetable at Santa Pod's web site and it comprises four rounds of eliminations and finals for the invited classes (Supercharged Outlaws, Outlaw Anglia, Wild Bunch and Gasser Circus) at 09:30, 11:30, 13:30, with semi-finals at 15:30 and finals at 16:30, however as usual the timetable is subject to amendment for track conditions. Once again the class sessions will be interspersed with RWYB from which we'll report the quicker times from cars we can identify. The RWYB was very busy yesterday and we can expect some surprise appearances from cars that are eliminated in class races. The live video stream continues at Santa Pod's Youtube channel so enjoy the action.
On the damage front, Andy 'Fadster' Hadfield is sadly out for the rest of the event with engine damage in the final run of the day in the dark, he reported the engine is seized. On the plus side, Joe Bond reported that damage following a lifted blower in his run yesterday has able to be repaired so he will be out hopefully for a couple of runs today. Commiserations also to Don Scott whose engine let go in his match race against Steve Matthews, and the Heavy Chevy team who suffered a broken universal joint.
