Modurstang Pro ET racer Sara unsworth who is running as Gecko Drag Racing Team with husband Steve, qualified third with a 10.4122 on a 10.40 dial but pulled a red light against Ben Newsome in round one.

Modurstang Pro ET racer Paul Brown qualified fifth with a 9.1115 on a 9.09 dial in and went through in round one against Vic Parsons with a 9.132 on a 9.12 dial. In round two his day ended in a double breakout against Will Clark with a 9.057 on a 9.08 dial. Paul's car is still for sale.


Modurstang Pro ET racer and Eurodragster.com sponsor Mike Lacey was entertaining the fans with a high wheeliemyesterday. He said 'On the highest one I pedalled three times to avoid coming down too hard'. The car had also taken a directional turn towards the wall and went through with a 14.601 on a 9.00 dial, but Mike was able to return to competition where he defeated Andy Thetford in round one with a quicker light and was victorious against a breaking-out Elaine Hancock in round two.

Modurstang Pro ET racer Wayne Hiscock is at his first event of 2019 and took an easy pass in qualifying, and then stepped up to a 9.695 on a 9.25 dial in round one, only to be passed by Will Clark's 10.24 on a 10.00 dial.


Modurstang Pro ET racer Leigh Morris had an easy run through the first two rounds of competition after first round opponent Dave 'Tig' Napier, sponsor of the Perfect Light Award, suffered damage after a high wheelie and subsequent hard landing. Tig withdrew for repairs, and in round two the ladder of 23 cars gave Leigh a bye run and he drove through in 10.071s at 132mph, out the back door.

Lucas Oil Junior Dragster racer Sam Fairhurst is at his first race of 2019 and qualified in seventh place with a 0.053 RT. A 0.062 red-light in round one resulted in him going out to Daniel Weir.


Lucas Oil Junior Dragster racer Thomas Cook-Abbott's car is for sale despite him being eligible for another full season. He qualified fourth with a 0.033 and then defeated Harley Coulsell in round one in a tight race with a win margin of 0.0079, however lost to newcomer Kai Cooper, who had a package of a tenth of a second, in round two.

Lucas Oil Junior Dragster racer Tom Kaye's car is also for sale, a Half Scale car currently running in JMA. Tom qualified 15th with a 0.1398 RT and defeated a red-lighting Archie Wray in round one, and was first away and winner against Frankie Taylor in round two.


Lucas Oil Junior Dragster racer Harley Darby has a distinctive 'Bullet Boy' livery on his car and qualified no.6 on Saturday with a 0.037 RT, and was the beneficiary of a red light by Caitlin Wilson in round one before being passed by Frankie Fordham in round two.

Taylors Trophy Super Street Bike racer Dave Smith qualified number one in the single qualifying session held yesterday and in a field of entries which had been depleted by racers attending the FIM round in Hungary, or concentrating on preparations for the Main Event FIM round. A 7.80/162 on a cooler track than Easter compared with a 7.5/192 at the Festival of Power, and he ran a 7.758/190 in his bye in round one.


Accelerate for a Cause and a Cure ET Bike racer Jasmine Cordelle qualified sixth out of ten after the bottom four racers had all broken out in the single session held. In round one Jasmine broke out by a mere 0.002s against Paul Adams, recording a 9.337/142mph which is close to her PB.

Accelerate for a Cause and a Cure ET Bike racer Phil Pratt revealed the reason why some bikes are leant over by their riders in the pairing lanes. He said 'I had an oil change before the Flame & Thunder show to synthetic oil. After having clutch problems, Richard Sawatzki told me about leaning the bike over so that the oil goes into the clutch to enable it to operate properly'. A breakout in the sole qualifying session here resulted in eighth position with a 8.896 on a 8.95 dial, and a red light against Peter Harrison in round one resulted in Phil's elimination.


Accelerate for a Cause and a Cure Supertwin Top Gas racer Mike Nelthorpe has an all carbon fibre body (pictured closest to camera) that your reporter was able to lift with one hand. The body was made by Mike's wife Sylvia who runs a small carbon fibre business. Under the carbon fibre there is a two stroke twin cylinder engine from a snowmobile. Mike said 'The engine doesn't have a power adder but should go quicker, however the transmission is a pulley-based CVT and the cams on it need to be remanufactured to make the transmission work quicker'. Mike added the bike's frame was made by George Laycock and the concept was from Les Harris. Best wishes go to class and Eurodragster.com sponsor Derek Flynn who is unable to attend due to illness.

Accelerate for a Cause and a Cure ET Bike racer Justin Malton is riding under the banner of Hobo Racing alongside Comp Bike racer Chris Neary and STTG racer Michael Gooding. Chris said 'I'm not qualified as the chain on my bike snapped after 0.7s, but I'm hoping to do a practice run today'. Justin ran a new PB of 10.684 but broke out which placed him bottom of the field and in round one her was defeated by Gary Hester.


9.50 Bike racer Ian Cross, whose bike along with brother Jim's were nominated for the SPRC Best Appearing Bike award 2018, is getting great performance from a nitrous-fed 500cc Suzuki GSXR engine, which has been bored from a 400cc unit. 'My bike is the fastest street tyre and no wheelie bar 500cc machine in the world with a speed of 144.9mph and Jim's is the quickest with a 9.1s ET.' With the curtailed qualifying Ian is not qualified for elminations.

Funny Bike racer Kars van den Belt from the Netherlands is planning on running every round of the ACU Championship and he has invested in a new fuel system, new plenum and new turbo running at 30-45psi in order to increase the power from the 600hp recorded last year. He said 'The power is unbelievable, I am just trying to find the sweet spot'. His best so far this year is a 7.03 compared with a previous best of 7.003.


Funny Bike racer Dave Batcheler made history at the Festival of Power by shutting off after the burnout and proposing to Sharon Wilson who gracefully accepted. Dave has aqcuired Phil Crossley's Funny Bike and ran a best of 7.33 on it at Easter. 'I'm just getting a feel for it and here the tyre is spinning up with the cold track'.

Phoenix Personnel Super Comp racer Leah Kellett said that the team's dragster suffered fuel flooding issues. 'We couldn't make any runs yesterday and had to work at finding the problem by looking at the fuel filter and the carburretor. After changing the needle in the carb and rebuilding it, it worked properly - but then it rained. I had another qualifying chance this morning and made it into the ladder, but sadly Joe hasn't qualified for Super Pro ET'.


Accelerate for a Cause and a Cure/PWRD Super Pro ET racer Martyn Jones said the track is too cold to run good times. 'Our 6.59 was ok to 330ft but it wandered around a lot after that, it felt like driving on a ploughed field and the trace of driveline speed and engine revs was all over the place. We didn't go out in Q2 as the wheelie bar had broken and had to be welded back together - it helps having a welder on the team.'

Accelerate for a Cause and a Cure/PWRD Super Pro ET racer Tom Atkinson went into number one qualifying position in the first session with a 8.776 on a 8.76 dial. He said 'That was lucky, the car didn't go straight and the corrections I made must have slowed it a bit. We haven't done much to the car over the winter but plan to do more after this season. In the meantime we will run the championship and we've entered the Big Bracket at the Doorslammers with me driving on Sunday and Dad John on Saturday'. After ending qualifying in number two position, Tom went out to Mark Bailey in round one with a 0.004 breakout.


Phoenix Personnel Super Comp racer Paul Hudson has been having battery and electrical problems which prevented the car starting for session one and slowed it to a 10.888 in session two.

Modurstang Pro ET racer Laura Baynton had suffered damage on her second run. 'The car got to 1000ft and then there was a pop sound from under the hood. So I shut it off and coasted', she said. Dad Paul said 'Back in the pits we found the internals of the distributor had shattered. We had been offered another but then found the brake master cylinder had failed. On top of that we had a fire in the motor home on Friday so we were thinking someone was trying to tell us something. But we were number one after the first session. We will make repairs and be back at the Main Event'.


VW Pro racer Simon Blackburn has a R32 3200cc turbo engine in his Seat Leon with cage fitted by Andy Robinson and tagged to 8.5s. 'I've had the car for two years, and grew up at the track as my Dad owned American Speed Specialities. He passed away 19 years ago when I was 21 but now I've started my own business as a UK dealer for VMS Racing Wheels and dealing in guages as well'. Simon's engine produces 577hp with only 13lb of boost and he plans to add nitrous as well. The team are planning a second entry for the Doorslammers, another Leon with a 1800cc engine driven by Kain Kennedy.

Accelerate for a Cause and a Cure/PWRD Super Pro ET racer Ashley Bell ran a 9.81 and 9.40 in the two sessions held yesterday and then in eliminations, the Cobra took a hard right turn after the tree, Ashley saving it. The team said 'The car is moving around at the top end of the track'.


Accelerate for a Cause and a Cure/PWRD Super Pro ET racer Brian Pateman missed his first Easter event in many years as a plan to attend other races in Europe rather than run the complete UK championship is taking shape. Brian qualified eighth with a 8.842 on a 8.75 and in round one had a bye running a 8.739 with a RT of 0.0058.

Accelerate for a Cause and a Cure/PWRD Super Pro ET racer Oliver Krautbergerfrom Austria has a Chevy Monte Carlo with a 383ci SBC engine and TH350 gearbox. He ran a 9.169 in qualifying but had problems and was unable to make the call for round one. After this weekend, he will be administering the European Pro ET Challenge, the first round of which takes place in Rivanazzano, Italy next weekend.
