Nigel Payne in the pairing lanes but did not make the bleach box.
17:55 Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator qualifying session 5 Thanks to Jemma Barnes for pointing out the whoopsie with the Q4 Street Eliminator results, all sorted and apologies folks. Andy Bond with the quickest-ever Street Eliminator ET, well done Andy and team! The first half of an ET record and of course PBs for both ET and speed. Next pair and Graham Smith back into the eights, then Joe Stevens back into the sevens with the last run of the session.
17:50 Phoenix Personnel Super Comp qualifying session 5 First pair and Darryl Howells' motor stopped in the bleach box, it didn't seem interested in restarting so pushed back. Paul Hudson up to #7 at +0.0987. First Super Comp outing today for Billy Gane, alongside Pete Creswell, Pet eimproved but stayed #4. Billy in at #8.
17:45 Lucas Oil Junior Dragster qualifying session 5 Matthew Dowdy up from #7 to #2 at 0.0082. Kaitlan Deevey lined up against Damion Redshaw but then shut off and was pushed back. Daniel Weir up from #12 to #8 at 0.0295.
17:30 Good Vibrations Motorsports/Przym Paint Super Pro ET qualifying session 5 7.9550 on 8.35 breakout for Eurodragster.com sponsor Pete Walters, Richard and the team delighted with that, well done guys! Problems for Phil Toppin in the burnout, car sounded as if it had a throttle stop on and rolled forward slowly, shut off and pushed back. 6.0642 on 6.00 dial-in for Martyn Jones and his five-second Top Methanol Dragster Which Isn't, Syd having to choose his back-off location in real time with eyes, brain and foot, #35 to #25. Chute took its sweet time opening but Syd got it stopped OK. Pel Norman going great guns in the Nova but then a puff of smoke from the motor at about 1000 feet, off the gas and chute out. Track checked and all OK. Two runs later and Ian Brown took the £50 Eurodragster.com/Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light award with a 0.0000 RT, well done Ian! Great to see Paula Atkin out in her turbo Pro Mod. 1.1280 to sixty then off the gas around the eighth but still 8.3473/112.33. Patrick Dubois' dragster returned to the pits without starting.

17:05 Modurstang Pro ET qualifying session 5 Start line fire crew grabbed an extinguisher and ran for Laura Baynton's Capri during her burnout. Whatever happened took place below us so couldn't tell you what. Laura restarted the motor however quickly shut off again. Third pair and Ethan Lisle up from #18 to #11 at +0.0183. A couple of pairs later Laura Baynton returned which was good to see. In the other lane Jon Turner up from #10 to #2 at +0.0045, close to the Eurodragster.com Perfect ET Award supported by the Twister Race Team. Next run and James Oliver had a go at the Eurodragster.com/Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award with a 0.0055 RT. 0.0003 breakout for Amy Watkins, the track too short for her by all of 0.73 inches. -0.0020 Rt for Dave Cherrett, another racer close to the Eurodragster.com/Bad Habit Racing money but, somewhat surprisingly, the cellophane on both cigar boxes is still intact. Top six on +0.00-something, +0.0878 buys you #26, that folks is why I love Pro ET so much.

Lara Bartlett next up the ladder, #11 to #5 at 0.0197. 0.0526 for Harry Redshaw moved him up from #18 to #12. Blue Line violation for Perfect ET Award sponsor Andy Fadster, Purdie's going to break a toe kicking his butt. Caitlin Wilson has made it here all the way from Scarborough after her exam, I am picturing mum Rachel recreating the opening minutes of The Cannonball Run. Caitlin in at #13. Squeaker -0.0056 for Teddy Sullivan, good tilt at the Eurodragster.com/Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award.

Third class of the weekend so far for Mark Todd, now in Super Pro ET after starting in Street Eliminator and moving to Comp Eliminator, in at #31 at +0.2128. Billy Gane up from #12 to #2 at +0.0010, identical to Scott Crookston but Scott #1 as he did it first. Great run for Steve Johnson in the Motor Mouse slingshot, 7.3542/182.84, that has to be somewhere near the best for Steve in that car. First outing of the day for Oliver Krautberger, in at #39. Improvement for Mark Flavell but something came off the car as the chutes deployed, spotters quickly on it.

Martin Hill followed Pro ET with a 5.9609/266.55 in the Fireforce 3 Jet FC. 15:00 Lucas Oil Junior Dragster qualifying session 3 Purdie Hadfield up from #17 to #11 at 0.0793 in the second pair. 0.0295 for Lucas Schmidt moved him up to #4. Fexlix Schmidt's crew puilled his dragster back behind the start line after over-staging, which so far as I know is against final instructions, got one of Chief Starter Ian Marshall's looks and an admonitory index finger. Archie Wray up to #5 at 0.0417. Damion Redshaw and Kai Cooper up from #19 to #2 and #10 to #3 respectively at 0.0102 and 0.0107.

14:45 Secret Worx Comp Eliminator qualifying session 3 A big Thank You to Jordan Payne for bringing us cakes as well as the news that due to illness dad Nigel will be driving the Sticky Situation 'Vette this weekend. Bang and flash of flame from Dirk peiler's Dart, from here sounded and looked like blower panel, and a new PB for Dirk. here's hoping it was just the blower panel and that all is OK. Track checked and all OK. In the other lane Chris Orthodoxou up to #5 and plenty more to come from the Pro Mod as Chris drove through shake and pedalled once. First outings of the day for Andy Hone and Kev Jenkins, Fred in at #3 and Kev #7.

Dave Russell up to #2 +0.0045 and Eurodragster.com brother-in-law Tom Atkinson up to #5 at +0.0062, both having a go at the Eurodragster.com Perfect ET Award supported by the Twister Race Team. A puff of smoke from Dave Russell's motor right on the stripe, here's hoping nothing serious. Next pair Pel Norman and Dave Smith didn't register on the timing system. Great recovery for Laura Turburville, up from #19 to #4 at +0.0053. Top six now on +0.00-something and +0.0936 buys you #21. Next pair and Dave Evans idled up the track in the big Impala. really great to see Bob Doyle's return in the Z-Case Datsun, understandably took it gently to bed stuff in and Spencer's ventilation is still, of course, blocked. Another breakout but a great pass for John Gerritsen, 6.6325/204.39. one of the burnouts of the day for Glenn Pallant in his Consul Capri, good effort by Scott Crookston in the other lane too. Scotty up to #1 from #15 +0.0010 on dial-in, again remember this guy usually runs heads-up. Mattias to sixty in 0.9319, Caroline in 0.9914, Caroline drove through shake. Mattias with a storming eighth and a visible lead 3.7944/203.32 to Caroline's 4.0183/189.55. Caroline's chutes took out the quarter mile reflectors. 1.0086 sixty for Len, 0.9923 for Andreas, some shake for Lenn but he had the better eighth 3.9509/195.46 to Andreas' 4.0203/186.49. Lenn had the chutes out after 1000 feet. Ingo's motor zinged and stopped going into the burnout. Charlie took the bye, 1.1592 to sixty driving through shake, 4.6779/155.75 at the eighth, off the gas at 1000 feet. 13:50 Modurstang Pro ET qualifying session 3 0.0085 RT for Chris Newsam, close to the Eurodragster.com/Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award. Long burndown between team-mates James Oliver and Eurodragster.com sponsor Nic Williams, Olly cracked first. Interesting trivia from this session, several breakouts in a row in the left lane and in the middle of that there was also a string of double breakouts. We'll count them later. Amy Watkins brought the strong of left lane breakouts to an end moving up from #19 to #1 +0.0044 on dial-in and close to the Eurodragster.com Perfect ET Award supported by the Twister Race Team. Drama in the next pair as Dave Crowhurst's Beetle got out of shape just past the finish line, chute out but it wasn't enough as the car took a hard right turn and hit the guardrail. I saw the crew member on top end gate duty start running for the gate as Dave's Beetle turned right, no-one is quicker or better than these guys. Dave got himself out of the car and was taken to the Medical Centre to be checked out.

That's qualifying cycle 1 done, on to session 2. 11:15 Secret Worx Comp Eliminator qualifying session 1 Street Eliminator racer Mark Todd moved to Comp for this event, 7.50 limit I believe and got pretty close to it. No class or index came up for Mark but that will get sorted. In the other lane a nice run for Dirk Peiler, shut it off and chute out before the stripe so more to come. Kev Perkins also off it early and chute out before the traps. Chris Orthodoxou in Comp with his Pro Mod Viper, a screaming burnout, the exhaust blast blew off a crew member's cap and headset which is a neat trick. 1.0189 to sixty, shake out to 100 feet, heading towards the centre line and shut it off.
11:05 Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator qualifying session 1 Drama in the second pair as a flash of flame from class débutant Anthony Higgs' motor in the second half turned into a serious fire enveloping the whole front of the car. Anthony with incredible presence of mind got the car stopped by the first exit as the top end safety crews, who moved really very quickly, got to him and from here we could clearly see the driver side door open and Anthony get out and run away from the car. Word quickly came back from the top end that Anthony is quite OK. On the restart Andy Bond over 200 mph in competition, well done Andy and team!

Good morning to Mark Cook-Abbott who got in touch to tell us that Thomas Cook-Abbott, who just made a qualifying pass, will be off to sit an exam later on and will then come back to the track hopefully in time to rejoin qualifying. Whatever ailed Harley Jay Darby's car sorted for long enough to get off the start line but then lost drive; reaction time recorded though so he is in the ladder.

Nick Good in his #2 dragster this weekend, 7.5941 on 7.58 dial-in, the dragster was rocking left and right in the second half. The Eurodragster.com/Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award and the Eurodragster.com Perfect ET Award supported by the Twister Race Team are both £50 after being won at the Springspeed Nationals. Thanks to Cath and Tig Napier and to Andy Fadster for their support. Bob's Photo Finish Award, of £50 each to the racers involved in in the closest finish, kicks in when eliminations start; thanks to longtime Eurodragster.com supporter Bob Roberts for putting up the Photo Finish money again. Good to see Eurodragster.com supporter Al Platt letting his hair down for the weekend and even better to see him go +0.0086 on dial-in off the trailer, going after the Eurodragster.com/Twister Race Team money. 9.8054 on 10.28 dial-in for Chris Newsam in the MG ZS, that was with a significant pedal at half track - a great opportunity to say good morning Chris and Di Johnson. Tom Watkins squeaked the lead from Al Platt at +0.0081, a whole 0.0005 between them. Good to see Neil Hunter back with his Capri, 9.9617 on 9.70 dial-in a good baseline.
