Gasser Circus racer Mick Allen is running a Corvette which he bought with a big block engine and swapped it for a 377ci small block. The back axle was also rebuilt and a line-loc needed attention. 'I imported it from a Long Island racer where it had run 9s times and then sat for 20 years. I found it on Race List web site a year ago and then stripped it when I first brought it into the country'.

RWYB racers Josh Evans (pictured left) and Gareth Evans have an Escort Mark 1 with a Nissan Skyline RB25 six cylinder engine with turbo. On a mild tune, missing out first gear, the car ran 15s but was able to be hot lapped over 10 times in a day.

Supercharged Outlaw racer Paul Dale has a new 8-71 supercharger with nitrous and is looking to get into the mid eights. 'Bill Murfin built the engine and gearbox over the winter. We had a problem with the SBC engine and its harmonic balancer but hope that it can now launch with more power with a transbrake rev setting of 4500rpm. His time was 9.68/145 with more to come.

RWYB racer and Eurodragster.com colleague Kirstie Tramm drove Tom Atkinson's '65 Nova Wagon which has a LQ4 engine which makes ''Bout 600hp mate', as mentioned by Andy Digby to anyone who cared to ask. Kirstie's PB improved to 12.69/115 and is aiming for a 11s run. The gearbox is a 4L60 3 speed and overdrive and Ford 9" rear axle at the rear. Tom describes it as a resto mod, or a Orio Speed Wagon in tribute to his favourite biscuit. Tom mentioned his Ranchero is for sale.

RWYB racer Tim Bull, son of pioneer and BDRHoF member Harold Bull who will be attending on Sunday. The 100E van has a Ford Modular V8 of 330ci with EFI and nitrous, making 400hp with an additional 100hp from the gas. So far this has produced a 10.84 time with the five speed manual gearbox. Tim bought the car in 2010 and built it over four years. The car has covered over 8000 miles on the road with this setup.

Swedish racer Johan Tjernström bought his slingshot dragster in 2011 and since then has made upgrades to the engine and transmission and made the chassis comply with SFI spec. The car usually runs in Scandinavian Vintage dragster Association races in class A with other front engined cars and altereds. It has run a best of 8.24/163.

Wild Bunch racer Callum Swinchatt is trying out a new transbrake this weekend and is gradually raising the launch rpm, ending the day at 2800 with more to come. He said 'Many thanks to Pryzm Racing for producing the t-shirts'.

Dragstalgia Cannonball racer Matt Wright has a 526ci methanol engine in his All or Nothing Racing funny car. He said 'I did a launch and will get further down the track and hopefully run a half pass this meeting.' Matt has a new team including car builder Bill Felstead, Kelly Fowler, Christie Parsons, Nigel Storer, Robert Carrington, Danielle, Stevie, Summer, Jenson and Phil Colliver.

NSA racer Graham Sykes has raced since 1979 on many bikes in a variety of classes ranging from a 350cc to a 5000cc Rover engine. In 2018, he bought a Morgo Triumph which had been raced by Charlie Butterworth for over 35 years. The bike is a 750cc supercharged engine running on nitro and holds world records in the standing kilometre and flying kilometre. In the quarter the quickest time the bike ran is 8.86/168 which the bike's builder Chris Richards. Graham thanks Charlie for selling him the bike, which he is riding for the first time at this event. Slingshot Showdown racer Mick Hannah has new body panels made by team member Stuart Ferguson, and also new mechanicals. 'The engine is a Donovan 417ci with billet heads and 8-71 supercharger, and the ignition is now a MSD 44 magneto. Transmission is an Andy Frost Powerglide. We've had a number of small problems with pistons, head bolts and oil seals. We tried to run at the Summer Nationals but had an oil leak'. The car has a transbrake and chute, which is more learning curve for Mick, who has a 800 mile round trip to get to SPR.

Dragstalgia Cannonball racer Andy Raw did a planned launch which delighted the team after a four year build. He said 'We will work our way down the track over the weekend. Thanks to my team Karl, Jason, Lee, Shane, Johnno, Tash, Lisa and paint guru Steve Taylor'. Andy's engine is out of a Don Prudhomme dragster from 1999 and from Keith Black, with brand new internals ('the best money can buy'). The construction was mainly done by Jason at FGR Motorsport and graphics were applied by Peter Walters.

Willys War racer Kim Bishop has gone from grey primer to this beautiful paint job which matches son Mark's slingshot dragster. Power comes from a supercharged 522ci engine. He opted to miss session one, so we will be seeing the car on the track tomorrow.

UK Nostalgia Superstock racer Dave Simcock bought his Challenger 14 years ago with a 440ci engine and gradually got the times down to 10.7. Last year the engine was exchanged for a 500ci piece which, with nitrous, got the times down to 9.6. He said 'I am looking to run 10.3/10.4 without nitrous'. On a 10.39 dial, he went 10.369 in session one.

UK Nostalgia Superstock racer Dan Williams has a newly imported '62 Impala which is run in stock trim, apart from a new Holley carb and intake manifold on top of the 327ci engine. He went 14.67 on a 14.41 dial.

UK Nostalgia Superstock racer Lola Cavey has had a lot of work done by fiancee Nick Garrett. She said 'I've had the car for 18 months and it has had a new rear axle, transmission, converter, aluminium heads and cam. We ran our first 12 today, and our ambition is to still run it as a street car and for it to run elevens'. Modifications to help it run comfortably on the street include Hotchkiss Pro Touring Suspension and Chip Foose wheels. She said 'It runs better than my Subaru'. She ran 13.184 on a 12.90 dial in session one.

UK Nostalgia Superstock racer Ashley Rawson's Duster is called Kermit and has a 500ci engine. He went 11.184/124 on a 10.72 dial in.

There are six vintage Funny Cars from Sweden, and the two here are competing in the Dragstalgia Cannonball. Three qualifying sessions will take place, and the aggregate times of the quickest two go into the final. Here we have Erik Wallinder's replica Tre Kronor (the original raced here by Harlan Thompson in 1981, after it had served duty for Ed 'The Ace' McCulloch). Next to it is Tobba Jansson's Nitrocalypse Corvette.

On display in the nostalgia marquee is this unrestored '74 Dodge Challenger, built in the US by Super Stock racer Joe Allread and raced by him in '74-'75 and by subsequent owner Dave Hendricks in '76-'79. It was then stored until 2017 when Duncan Watts bought and imported it, and subsequently sold it to Dave Billadeau.

This Swedish owned fleet of Funny Cars are owned by Janne Johansson who restored them to original spec. Janne told programme editor and event director James Forster that the key influences on his life in restoring these cars were building the Revell model kits and also the visits of British and US Funny Cars to Mantorp Park in the 1970s.

The amount of detail in Janne Johansson's funny car restorations is incredible including getting Joe Pisano's family to approve the colours used in the paint scheme for the Pisano & Matsubara Monza, immortalised in a Revell model kit.

This 'Jungle Jim' Vega is the actual vehicle in which legendary Jim Liberman won his only NHRA national event, the 1975 Summernationals. On buying the car in original condition, Janne raced it a couple of times before restoring it.

Antony 'Butch' Wilkins' daughter Chloe is pictured with her Dad's new Willys '41 Coupe, built by himself over six months and sporting a 454ci BBC with Mega Blower 420 and TH400 gearbox. All the work including the interior and paint was done by Butch to his immacualate standards. He said 'It's never been down the track but I'm looking forward to the Willys Wars, there are no winners and no losers'. Chloe is planning on racing in Pro ET in the future.

Fuel altered racer Clive Mechaell is looking forward to running his car on Saturday and Sunday. The engine on the car is from the ill-fated Top Fuel Dragster driven by Darrell Gwynn when he had his accident here. Clive has run the car down to the 6.2s in the 33 years he has owned it. Barnaby Levy was driving the Barnstormer Outlaw Anglia to ten second times, its PB being 9.16 with its Olds 468ci engine running on C12 fuel, with an Al's Glide for transmission.

Christian Zulauf from Switzerland has a slingshot dragster built by Webster Race Engineering and named Silberblitz after its colour. Initial runs before the event saw a best of 9.2 but the team want to run sixes, which is what it would take to be competitive in the Slingshot Showdown.

This beautiful '55 Nomad belongs to Valley Gas Speed Shop, one of the UK's premiere Hot Rod constructors. As well as running the business successfully for 20 years, Jimmy Hibberd has promoted it by raising �4500 to support local hospices to its Andover base.

This Morris Minor 1956 traveller was built by Mick Sinclair and is now owned by owned by Jaime Ayres. He said 'I have owned it for nine years now and the engine has been completely renewed, a 355ci Chevy engine and 4-71 blower with Holley carburettor. It is named 'Minor Alteration' and has run a best of 12.1.

This Chevy Pickup ran a 10.18/132 in Friday's RWYB and is owned by ex Street Eliminator racer Alan Simms. He said 'I bought the car four years ago as a roller and rebuilt it ground up with a new cage and 6.2 litre LS3 engine and Whipple supercharger. I ran a 10.00 at the Nostalgia Nationals and since then have had a new back axle, gearbox and prop shaft since then which Jon Webster helped with. John Sleath rebuilt the gearbox'.

This '37 Ford Model Y, modified to make it coupe configuration, is owned by Tony Laroche who has just celebrated his 70th birthday. The car is Rover powered, the engine displacing 4.6 litres, with a 4-71 supercharger and Holley 4 barrel carb. The gearbox is five speed manual. Tony said 'I use it all the time including shopping around Shoeburyness where I live, and I run it frequently at nostalgia RWYB events.

This Model A, owned by Stuart Smith from Stourbridge, is channelled and runs a carburretored engine in RWYB. He said 'I've owned the car for around 18 years but have only raced it here for the last two. It has a 350ci Chevy engine with a 6-71 supercharger and TH400 gearbox. Its best is a 10.4/128. I used to race at Avon Park and came here in 2018'.
