Andy Frost's campaign to make Red Victor 3 the world's quickest and fastest street-legal car continues, and with the
car ready for test runs Frosty has rented Santa Pod Raceway for two days and flown in tuner Shane Tecklenburg.
The rationale behind renting the track is quite simple; firstly the bulk of the testing will have been carried
out when Frosty takes the car back to Bahrain, and secondly with the track all his own Frosty can run when he wants
and not be constrained by discrete sessions as he would be testing within a race event.
Frosty made three runs today, all test launches. As this is a private test we will not publish the short numbers
but Frosty's first run was under power to about 150 feet, 11.0987/77.61. The second run was under power past 300 feet,
8.4190/113.19. On the final pass there was a little shake, off the gas at 250 feet, 9.8209/80.89.
A few other racers accepted the invitation to test here today. Outlaw Street racer David Mahoney made six passes
in all, the Camaro running like a bracket car - put it this way, the quickest run was 8.9758/153.13, there was
one other 8.9-second pass, and the other runs were all 9.0s with the (relatively) slowest being 9.0720/150.16.
Street Eliminator Al Williamson made a very welcome return in his pick-up, the quest for the seven-second pass
renewed. Al had engine builder Jeff Bull in attendance and also had some consultancy from Shane T. Al made two runs;
the first was a launch, stopped about 400 feet out and reversed back to the start lin area as planned. The second
run was a launch and then idled through, 17.9088/43.26.
Matt Peters was in attendance to make licencing passes in Norbert Kuno's spare Avenger Pro Mod, derated for
Super Pro ET competition... although given events at the weekend one wonders whether Norbert may ask for his car
back. Matt was on the gas to about 350 feet, a move right and then off the pedal, idled through to 11.6117/71.26.
The Darkside Developments team certainly got their money's worth with no less than six runs in their diesel-powered
car which is always good for soot photos. Quickest run of the day was 9.4611/150.55, there was one other 9.4-second
pass, and the other passes were 9.5s and 9.6s with the (again relatively) slowest a 9.7025/145.23.
One participant on two wheels, carrying the number CB264. Made four runs but sounded to have a misfire to begin
with, sounded to be sorted by run three with a quickest of 10.4032/149.56.
The day was brought to a premature end mid-afternoon by a light rain shower followed a short while later by a prolonged
deluge.
Kirstie and Diana were photographing and you can check out their gallery via the Event Index. The track
will be open again tomorrow and the
Webster Race
Engineering/Nimbus Motorsport webcam will
be on-line broadcasting live video and trackside audio so long as the track is open.
