Pro Mod racer and Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy Robinson's crew were happy with a new PB and MSA ET record of 5.867 backed up in round one. Bowser (pictured with Jim Chandler) said 'We made no changes for round one and the only change was a slightly late shift into top gear but it was as perfect a repeat as you could wish for. We have found the concrete track to be more stable in hot conditions - it was 104, 114 and 108 degrees for each session yesterday and in similar air temperatures the asphalt track was 125 degrees and a lot more prone to skating and a bit slimy. Our hats go off to the track crew for their awesome prep work'.

Pro Mod racer Bobby Wallace ran new PBs this weekend, with a 6.209/226 in the third qualifier and 6.189/223 in a round one defeat of Bert Englefield. He said 'We had a bigger engine this year but had electrical problems so went back to what we were used to and after checking it out, tuned it, and it responded really well. There has been no shake and that is mainly down to the clutch work we did over the winter, working on it using Racepak data and modelling various settings'. Bobby then defeated Andy Robinson, whose blower panel burst, with a 6.246/221.44 in the semi final.

Pro Mod racer Michel Tooren has improved performance since the car was rebuilt with the team taking the opportunity to try different tune-ups. 'We have changed the gear ratios in the transmission and the performance has caught up quickly. We're now more cautious about the launch and not too aggressive. We are changing things like ignition and timing gradually to ensure it goes smoothly'. The results were a best qualifying pass of 6.08/235, a round one win against Wayne Nicholson of 6.16/235, a round two win over Kev Slyfield of 6.14/236 and a final round win over Bobby Wallace of 6.109/237 for his first ever winners trophy. Michel will contest the remaining MSA rounds and August at Hockenheim and Tierp.

Pro Mod racer Kev Slyfield qualified no.2 with a 6.045/234. He said 'It's been a good weekend, we made some changes in the transmission with the converter and they've worked, and made the car more tunable. We are trying to go quicker with little changes, and we mean little'. Kev is supported by James and Brian of no.1 sponsors M&D. He went out in the semi final after the car edged out of stage.

Pro Mod racer Bert Englefield missed the first couple of races but celebrated coming back with a new PB of 6.19/226. He said 'The main change we have made is the addition of a Racetech seat after we noticed that other seats have been known to break in half in a crash, and Racetech are the strongest being made out of carbon fibre. We did have to make some drastic changes to the chassis cage and rails to make it fit but it is worth it for the protection'. It's Bert's 30th anniversary year in Pro Mod ('I was nine when we started', he joked), after four years in Street and Super Street and the team will also be attending the Mopars and Euro Finals. Bert also thanks Nev Mottershead for the loan of his golf cart, painted black with a chain steering wheel.

Pro Mod racer Wayne Nicholson was pleased to run his first 6.2, a 6.296/224, and he said 'We have got some more changes in hand to make the car go quicker and are preparing it for the Mopars. We are enjoying our racing!'

Pro Mod racer Jean Dulamon has an increased team of five here, and a working Racepak which revealed that the launch rpm at about 4500 was about 1000rpm short of what he wanted. 'This meant the converter didn't function as it should and the car failed to get down the track smoothly. We will fix it for the next race'. The car has new front wheels and tyres as it went off the end of the track at the Main Event and sustained damage when it went for a short but bumpy flight.

Super Pro ET racer Paul 'Grumpy' Watson had his first full pass in the Grumpy's T altered. He said 'I now feel that after a year and a half of work we have solved the problems which were preventing it running well earlier. The engine had damaged rockers on Friday but my wife Kim brought the spares up in the evening. I'm over the moon with four runs in the sevens, went bouncing in the shutdown area after pulling the chutes which was interesting and now have a tune-up that we can run 7.3s with. This is different from all the door cars I've had and I'm looking forward to the Dragstalgia Cannonball'. Paul thanks Syd and Crunch for their advice on the Lenco which was prone to jumping out of gear after the burnout, Tony Betts for the supercharger and crewman Gary Springford of DRE.

Comp Eliminator racer Belinda Bull with husband and Eurodragster.com sponsor Jeff Bull had a consistent weekend performance wise which came to an end in a close match with Andy Hone. 'We are trying different things to get our head around the track and get back to our best times, and think we learnt something last night and this morning. We want to get it down the track without any dramas, and it's our turn to beat Fred'. Although runninng 7.11 on the quicker A/A index, Fred's 7.42 on the 7.99 Super Modified index was sufficient to beat Belinda and Fred went on to win the event over Tim Mugridge.

Comp Eliminator racer Tim Mugridge, with Junior Dragster racer Luke Mugridge and crewman Nick Mugridge, is in his first competitive race in some time. He said 'We figured out our head problem was the wrong type of gaskets and changed to copper ones which have helped make the engine a lot stronger. We also focused on the chassis by looking at some very helpful Tim McAmis Youtube videos which give guidance on toe-in angles at the front. Our all time best is 7.48 and we are not so far away from that with the clutch backed off, we need the 60ft to come down'. Meanwhile Luke went two rounds in Junior Dragster thanks to a new Craw's Racing engine, the same supplier as when Nick was racing in the class a decade ago.

Comp Bike racer Scott Collier qualified no.1 with a new PB of 7.376/182.88 on the now re-liveried Steve French machine. He went quicker still in round one of eliminations, defeating Ben Antonia with a 7.32/184 and Sigmaro Profas with a 7.513/180 in round two with a close race.

He said 'There was little or no boost on the qualifying run and the clutch was not right leading to a poor 60ft time. I spun the tyre in the second qualifying session and went across the finish line in 3rd rather than fourth. The main problem is running a seven inch slick without a wheelie bar, it is difficult to keep the bike going straight with wheelspin'.

Funny Bike racer Phil Crossley said the bike was running straight, however problems were keeping it from doing a complete run when an ignition pickup came loose on one pass and the bike started in second gear in another. His race came to and end in round one of elimination when the engine started smoking after the burnout.

Pro ET Rhiannon Bellenie was delighted with a new PB of 9.20. 'In the final run the car wouldn't change gear and we found a link in the chain drive had bent. We don't have a spare here, but we're happy nevertheless'.

Outlaw Anglia racer Jedd Guy ran a 7.778/169 at the start of the third session, but engine smoke at the end of the run indicated big problems. Happily, he was back in round one and went 8.03 to defeat Rob Stone.

Very best wishes to John for a speedy recovery, and Tom entered Sportsman in his Ford Ranchero truck. A best of under his dial of 0.0088 placed Tom in last place, leading to a first round pairing with...

Sportsman ET racer and Eurodragster.com photographer Kirstie Tramm ran a PB of 15.10/90mph, compared with a previous best ET of 15.27. She said 'I've been doing burnouts for the first time, and as the car doesn't have a line loc, I have to start from the right spot in the burnout box and floor it'. Kirstie will be racing at Bug Jam and National Finals, and her photographic skills will be on display at the Mopars and NitrOlympX.

Super Street Bike racer Steve Mead ran a new PB of 7.189/202. He said 'It was a great side by side with Rudolfo Maduro as we both ran teens for the first ever time. Walter has been on our tuning remotely from the US on both days, this weekend he is working from home but busy as he is also tuning Mogens Lund who is racing in Finland'. Steve was changing his oil yesterday evening, which is usually a between events maintenance step but carried out as a precautionary step this event, the engine not having been changed since Hockenheim last year.

Super Street Bike racer Rick Stubbins made two passes at the All Torque Test Day on Friday. He said 'We got back to where we were before the Main Event at which we were a bit off-track. We made little improvements to keep consistency and ran test passes of 7.4 and 7.2, spinning in first on the 7.4 and in second and third on the 7.2. We then turned the settings down for the first qualifying pass and the bike went quicker. We had clearly been trying too hard on the test day'. His best qualifying pass was 7.060/204.

Super Street Bike racer Garry Bowe, with tuner Brad O'Connor, had been having problems with two engines destroyed at the Main Event and another in testing on Friday. However frowns turned to smiles at the end of qualifying after some major changes. He said 'Each engine had different issues the first going after a gearbox problem and yesterday's after the intercooler became too hot. So we ditched the nitrous system, fixed the intercooler and put the settings we had used to run a 7.08 at Tierp. The result was a 7.028/207. In round one of eliminations he went to 7.01/207, low ET of the event so far.
