Phil shut off after his burnout and pushed back. Lorcan in the Last Chace Saloon stood up and started shooting the glasses behind the bar, and that was with a hesitation off the line. 1.2299 to sixty, 4.5168/167.29 at the eighth. Dale then with a last shot to get in, 1.0730 to sixty, 3.0101 to 330 feet then off the gas. Thomas to sixty in 1.1008 then metallic noises from his motor and shut it off. Eric to sixty in 1.1014, Glenn in 1.0918, Eric to the eighth in 4.4520/161.75 but drifting right, Glenn got to the eighth in 4.3058/163./92 but then moved left and took out the 1000 foot reflectors, carried on left and the bikes were very close together. Glenn took out both quarter mile reflectors and the bikes were very close which had to cast doubt on the time and speed which came up for Eric. Race officials reviewed the information available and Eric's time and speed stand. 1.0949 to sixty for Steve, 1.0292 for Fil whose bike started to head right almost straight away. Steve with the usual run straight down the middle of his lane. Fil to the eighth in 3.8981/196.73 very close to the rail ant it really didn't want to come back but Fil hung on to it. Steve through the eighth in 4.2012/174.86. Fil looked to have a cylinder out in the second half and shut it off before the stripe. Rikard ready to stage when Chief Starter Ian Marshall called the crew to look at something, whatever it was it wasn't a problem as Rikard was then signalled to stage. Fantastic run! 1.0920 to sixty, bike fishtailed some but Rikard hung on to it, 3.9880/196.16 at the eighth, on the gas all the way and the first haf of a new European speed record, we think only the third TFB rider on Planet Earth to go over 250 mph, congratulations Rikard and team!

Both Cjristian's and Gert-Jan's bikes headed left, Christian to sixty in 1.2076 and got off the gas before 330 feet. 1.1536 to sixty for gert-Jan, bike heading for the centre line, feather of the throttle to pull it back, 4.5255/134.77 at the eighth and on the gas all the way. Again the trio of nitro flames for Ronny, 1.2488 to sixty, 4.7076/171.76, looked to shut it off at about 1000 feet. Martijn to sixty in 1.2457, the bike swaying gently but not any cause for concern. 4.5614/169.81 at the eighth.

No burnout for Steve, stabbed the throttle and the FC jumped forward. Trail of spots from Steve's FC, just fuel overflow I think, mopped up and no concern shown. Steve to sixty in 0.9583, Kevin K in 0.9834, both off the gas before 330 feet, Steve got there in 2.5668 and Kevin in 2.5665, both decelerating at the eighth, Steve 4.3887/116.61 to Kevin's 4.0890/139.67. Kevin C to sixty in 0.9429, off the gas just before 330 feet 2.6114, through the eighth in 4.6773/102.44. Similar to Steve a trail of fuel from Birgitte's car, more of it though so signalled to shut off... the motor very reluctant to stop.

Björn to sixty in 0.9156, shaking past the Tree, a pedal and more shake and smoke, 2.4431 to 330 feet, pedal and smoke and heat haze then off the gas by the eighth 3.9565/153.60. Stopped on the shutdown area, retrieval called. Micke's problem in Q3 just a split low-pressure hose and not much damage as he was running ahead of the fire. Micke's tyres up in smoke, motor screamed and a fire on the left side, shut off and rolled to a halt just past the thousand. Stig to sixty in 0.9150, 330 feet in 2.3618, motor starting to smoke at the eighth 3.3669/254.92, more and more smoke until the car completely disappeared from here. The motor was smoking all the way down the shutdown area, turned off at the end of the track without drama however top end crew stood in the shutdown area with the dreaded straddled legs, oil clean-up in Stig's lane.

On the re-start, 0.8631 to sixty for Stefan and 0.8808 for Jndia, shake for both but Jndia had it worse, Stefan to 330 feet in 2.3349 to Jndia's 2.5730, Jndia pedalled for shake and the car twitched, a couple of small poieces came off Jndia's car, after a couple of pedals she shut it off, 4.5702/108.86 at the eighth. Stefan having driven through shake shut it off before the eighth 3.9471/132.73, a stab of the motor past the thousand. Stefan stopped on the shutdown area, retrieval called.

Liam to sixty in 0.8631, Anita in 0.8610, Anita with the better 330 foot time 2.2211 to Liam's 2.3428, Liam trying to drive through shake and then getting off the gas before the eighth 4.1246/118.14, haze, a flash of flame and a grunting noise from Anita's motor before the eighth 3.2889/219.70. Duncan visibly moved first 0.0907 to Antti's 0.1633, the better sixty 0.8441 to Antti's 0.8664, Duncan with shake from 200 feet or so, 2.3435 to 330 feet, Antti on a mission 2.2254. Duncan off the gas before the eighth 4.1470/116.38, had a grandstand seat to watch Antti disappear into the distance, 3.1787/265.40 at the eighth and driving it all the way.

Hard on the throttle to about 300 feet, car moved left, shut it off before the eighth. 136.53 at the eighth, time shown 4.0686 but given the sixty not sure about that. Björn not far from the Last Chance Saloon. Short burnout, back without drama. On the green Björn let the brake off and idled down the track. Nothing visibly amiss. Shake for Duncan, pedal before the eighth and from here it looked as if the blower belt broke, either way 3.6223/148.46 at the eighth. Stefan's tyre marks showed shake right on 330 feet, also looked like a belt for Stefan, 3.2700/216.55, chutes out before the thousand. Huge ball of flame form Micke's motor at the hit, dropping fuel which was burning as the car went down the track, pulled to a halt underneath the gantry. Stig to sixty in 0.8650, shake about 100 feet out, pedal and smoke from the tyres, time lost to all of that, 3.6876/161.07 at the eighth off the gas by then. Sweep of Micke's lane.

Great match between Jndia and Liam! Liam away first 0.1758 to Jndia's 0.2674, the better sixty 0.8521 to Jndia's 0.8640. 100-foot burnout for Rod. 1.1204 to sixty, 4.0581/197.25 to the eighth, car moving left and right a little but Rod had a hold of it. Clutch maybe slipping a little. Dennis' motor sounded as if it was about to lean out after the burnout, meanwhile Micke was backing up from his burnout but then shut off about 200 feet out. Crew rushed to push the car back. Dennis took the bye, tyres shook then smoked by the Tree, pedal then safety device cut the motor and put the chute out further down track. 250-foot burnout by Sandro, rolled past the eighth. Timo to sixty in 0.9108, Sandro in 0.9544, shake, a pedal and smoke for Sandro, pedal and back on it and the tyres hooked up. Sandro's FC went left in the burnout and did the same on the run, 3.9649/199.63 to the eighth and his header blast blew over one eighth mile reflector. Timo long gone by then, 3.5751/211.82 at the eighth, Sandro off the gas and chutes out before the stripe. Jonny strapped a 0.1017 to 0.4336 holeshot on Jürgen, not that it matters in qualifying, but tuner Krister Johansson used to do such things so will have approved. Jonny with a cylinder out on the left bank from launch, 0.9483 to sixty to Jürgen's 1.0002 with shake. Jonny to the eighth in 3.8787/190.44 looked like two cyinders out at that point. Jürgen to the eighth in 3.8915/188.54, off the gas and chutes out in the traps.

Comp Eliminator qualifying session 6

Squeaker -0.0063 RT for Rob Smallworth, great straight run up to #3 at -0.4066. Unusually problems for Robin Orthodoxou, even more unusually he shut off early. Huge burnouts by Belinda Bull and Eurodragster.com's favourite potty mouth Chris Orthodoxou, another six and another big speed, now -0.2683. Belinda with problems before staging was bulbed so that Chris could go, the intention was to let her then take a bye but she was pushed back. Tim Mugridge up from #4 to #3 -0.4076, the Camaro was moving around some but Tim stayed with it and was suitably rewarded.

Second pair and dave Fulton pu to #2 with a perfect 9.9009, well done Dave! Simon Gough having done 9.9009 first stays #1 for Belle. 9.5883 for Jon Turner even with an early shut-off, visibly decelerating. Problems for Rene Kloss in the burnout, motor zinged a little, pushed back. Tim Moore with a 9.6997, have a word Tina. Gilles Perruchoud just nosed over the start line with his burnout so his run DQ'd.

Super Comp qualifying session 5

Stu Doignie up from #2 to #2 +0.0132 on index. Martin Curbishley shut off on the line, Billy Gane with his first run of the even in this class in at #8. Martin fired up again in the Fix Auto-sponsored dragster and put in a 9.0707 so stayed # with his previous best. Phil Bennett up from #17 to #11 eith a right-side run. Improvment for Ben Bridges but stayed #10. 8.6821 for Steve Field in the Wild Bunch slingshot then had a bit of a bounce on in the shutdown area. Craig Wright in the Sales-I dragster pushed back before staging, Chief Starter Ian Marshall pointing at one of the rear wheels. Paul Hudson with the bye up from #9 to #8.

Next pair and Nigel Hale rolled the beams so no time, in the other lane hard work rewarded for Carl Goldsmith as his 12.3050 got him below the class cut-off so he gets to go out on the Cruise and race. next pairand Martin Smith's tyres went up in smoke not far off the line.

This morning's running order has been amended. We will start with Q5s of Lucas Oil Junior Dragster, Super Street, Terry Gibbs Super Gas Shootout, Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator and Super Comp, and then into Q6 in the usual order. Bear in mind that the Pro classes run on guaranteed starting times so some of Q6 may have to be fitted around the Pro sessions. The intention is still to get the larger classes down to sixteen by the end of today so it is possible that some qualifiers may have to be cancelled later.

Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway for our coverage of the FIA / FIM Main Event brought to you in association with John Woolfe Racing.

Today's plan is for a frequently-updated report and results on qualifying, pit notes from Simon, and a photo gallery at the end of the day courtesy of Julian, Kirstie and Diana.

B&Q must have sold out of gravel because in the small hours of this morning their entire UK supply was dumped in short order on the roof of my caravan. On investigation - easy enough to do because of all the lightning - it turned out to be hail and rain. It was quite an impressive thunderstorm but luckily no harm done. Charnley Mere has returned but will be removed very quickly I'm sure, and the racing surface is all but dry as it has had plenty of sun on it already this morning. Right now we have sun and hazy high cloud, the tailwind still with us. The jet dryers have just been called to the top end.

A big Good Morning to all the Eurodragsterholics out there; the usual greetings to Kai Plathan and the faithful Otto in Finland and Ivar Kolberg in Norway.

The track crew and race officials did a great job of recovering from yesterday evening's particularly tricky oildown. Running single-lane when it was safe to do so was, in Your Reporter's opinion, inspired and we would not have got finished without it.

In other news Your Reporter suggested to Santa Pod's owner and CEO Keith Bartlett that that SPR set up an [email protected] E-Mail address so that social media experts can write and beg forgiveness. One doesn't go on such sites too much and certainly nowhere near any of that stuff but one gets the idea that said experts have all gone a bit quiet in the last forty eight hours.

We are due to start at 09:30 with Sportsman qualifying. Some Sportsman classes will be going into eliminations later so there is a lot to play for especially in Gearhead Garage UK Super Pro ET and Modurstang Pro ET which are both oversubscribed for thirty two-car fields. Pro sessions are due at 10:30 and 14:30, again keep hitting Refresh as I will endeavour to update between pairs although it is not always possible.
