Lumpy-sounding burnout for Peter Wacker in his Pro Mod, lost fire after rolling to a halt. Quickly refired and came back to the start line. Rolled through stage as the lights ran, hit the gas, 1.3413 to sixty and 10.7878/83.49 at the quarter.

Another very sharp-sounding burnout and a good gassing up here in the office. 1.0177 to sixty, motor sounded to be misfiring and looked from here as if a belt was shredding, effect and cause one suspects. Great to see Mattias Wulcan here with his Camaro which has seen eighth-mile service in the USA. An Outlaw Pro Mod if ever there was one, Mattias has pretty much whatever he wants on this one. Next up Al Smith on the three-cylinder Top Fuel Bike. Very sharp-sounding burnout then some kind of issue before being pushd back, Al putting both hands up in the air. Got back and staged, then a fantastic launch, 0.9916 then tyre looked to shake and Al got off the gas, 10.3046/96.66.

Harrison Brown's first run of the afternoon on his 9.50 Bike was a 10.3920/111.24, in the other lane Straightliners racer B25 left before the lights ran but then smoke at the top end and the bike slid out from under him. Courtesy of his early launch he and the bike were way in front of Harrison. Top end ambulance moved very quickly indeed, the rider was standing up when they arrived.

Clutch cooled Paul Hambidge back on the Super Street Bike. Hesitation off the line, a couple of feathers, 9.6567/146.25.

Back to Beetles and Darren Shephard next out in the Social Outcast Bug. 1.7151 to sixty, missed third gear and had to pull it again, 12.7368/109.08.

Nigel Hale next up with the big pick-up after solving a wiring problem. Nice fog from the burnout. Hesitation at the hit but a good-looking pass after that, 11.2052/129.42.

First out after the break Marcin Blauth all the way from Poland with his 4WD Camaro which will be running in Lucas Oil Pro Street this weekend. Front tyres smoked on launch but feathered, 9.1833/165.45.

The Shakedown dragster went next, 1.7675 to sixty, shut off after the eighth, 14.6225/64.95. Mike Hawkins followed in the Thing 2 Rover. A lot of rev but not much smoke in the burnout but the track will be warm so shouldn't be a problem. More welly on the launch this time, settling in nicely. 12.3366/82.71.

Danny Pike back after being pushed away earlier. 1.5443 to sixty muissing gear a couple of times, backed off after the eighth, 12.6619/77.47.

First run of the afternoon for Paul Hambidge on his Super Street Bike. Shut off before staging as Danny Pike was stuck in the shutdown area.

Next run for Nathan Hulkes in the OCS Group Big Bracket Camaro a very nice 0.0364 RT, 10.2443/1390.63. Front end really came up on launch, from where I sit it looked as if the wheels left the deck but difficult to say for sure without being out front with a camera.

Great to see Gary Gooding of Team Extreme back where he belongs, in the EBC Brakes 6 Cylinder Supra. Nice burnout but then shut off before staging. Didn't go anywhere though, fired up again and put in his run. Gentle launch, some power applied then shut off in the second half, 9.8561/108.33.

Next up an Outlaw Anglia match between Colin Millar and Ronnie Mercer. Colin announced his presence with a 250-foot burnout. 1.3043 to sixty for Colin, 1.5726 for Ronnie, Colin's car had the front right wheel up for a fair distance and drifted right a little, sounded as if he was not on full throttle from that point and 10.0140/117.90 would tend to confirm it. 10.8520/124.19 for Ronnie. bnext run for Harrison Brown on the 9.50 Bike 9.6397/139.46.

Jon Turner next up in the Greenfish Cuda, left lane this time. Drift right on launch, feathered the throttle, 10.1475/138.10. Smoke from the car in the second half and down the shutdown area, track checked and clean-up called.

First run of the day for Webster Race Engineering 4 Cylinder racer Darren Shephard, lost drive off the line but stayed fired and pushed a few feet back for another go. 1.7023 to sixtym 12.3220/111.65 at the stripe.

Dave Reed next in his Webster Race Engineering 4 Cylinder Fiesta, up against a Porsche in camouflage scheme. 9.8130/141.60 for the Porsche to dave's 12,3807/120.27.

First run of the day for Joe Kellett in the Drummin' Man Gearhead Garage Super Pro ET dragster. -0.0412 RT, 1.2223 to sixty, 8.9710/152.67. First-footing next run was Nigel Hale in the Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator pick-up. Great burnout whose smoke hung in the air for a long time. Wheelspin at the hit but stayed with it, 12.4809/119.80.

Next up David Smith in the Modurstang Pro ET Challenger against James Wotton in his Outlaw Flat Four Beetle. 1.3264 to sixty for David, 9.6395/139.40 at the stripe, James lost gear at the hit and lost a lot of time finding it.

Great new paint job for Paul Hambidge's Super Street Bike. 1.5092 to sixty with a couple of feathers of the throttle then off the gas before the eigthh.

Next up Tom Kaye in his Lucas Oil Junior Dragster. Shut off before staging, shutdown area being checked out.

Second run of the day for ET Bike racer Phil Pratt. 1.5616 to sixty, 9.1447/149.68 at the top end.

Next up would have been called a Junior Dragster back in my day, Shakedown by name. 12.8932/100.06, nice run. Scott Hauser followed in the Gearhead Garage Super Pro ET dragster. Pro Tree, revs briefly up and then down again. Tree changed to Sportsman, -0.0732 RT, 1.0894 to sixty then off it by 330 feet. 9.5555/96.84.

Next up Michael Holleman in the Spal FWD Civic, first time I have seen this very nice-looking car. 1.3282 to sixty, shut off at about 1000 feet, 9.2970/113.79.

Al Smith followed on the three-cylinder Top Fuel Bike. Very gassy in our office after the burnout, eyes and noses stinging, we like it that way though. Lost drive at the hit, shut off and pushed back.

Next run for VW Pro racer Richard Brook a 13.9539/95.30. Hot-lapped, back within minutes, 1.7034 to sixty and 13.7427/96.70 at the stripe. back again not long later, 1.6939 to sixty and 13,6260/98.76 at the stripe.

Scott Hauser's Gearhead Garage Super Pro ET dragster in the lanes, Scott not yet strapped in though. In fact as I type he is strolling the start line with dad and Eurodragster.com sponsor Geof Hauser.

Jason Dodd's second run of the day in the OCS Group Big Bracket Trans Am, 10.8977/125.80 played 11.2606/119.31 from a fellow Surrey Muscle racer whose name we have not yet found.

Next up a white Hayabusa carrying Straightliners number B25. Shut off for a fluid leak and pushed back.

Great to see Modurstang Pro ET racer Jon Turner back, Procharger now fitted to the Greenfish Cuda. Great burnout then first run with the new combination, straight and gentle, 12.0670/126.30. Kit v Alfa again, Alfa took it with an 11.9118/116.84 to the kit car's backed-off 18.3518/53.45. Back for another match a few minutes later, Alfa took it again with a hesitant-sounding 13.7370/88.90 to the kit car's shut off 16.6315/57.83. And again they paired up, kit car with a 2.9797 RT followed by a 9.5771/142.52 beat the Alfa's 12.6445/111.12.

Also great to see Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator racer Mark Todd back where he belongs. Spin off the line, pedalled, gave it a bit more, car twitched and Mark got off it, 16.5897/44.15.

Second run of the day for JDS Street racer Simon Durrans. 14.0538/125.25 with hesitation about 400 feet out so more to come. Outlaw Flat Four racer Danny Pike followed in the Fiat X1/9. Strong- looking and -sounding launch, 1.6606 to sixty then 11.2516/121.77 at the stripe. Kit Car and Alfa then paired up, Kit Car took it 10.7042/140.30 to the Alfa's 12.2332/116.65.

Third run of the day for Richard Brook in the VW Pro Golf. 1.7119 to sixty, 13.8619/96.52. Second run of the day for Nathan Hulkes in the twin-turbo Camaro, 10.4544/130.68. Greetings to Darren.

The Alfa followed, 12.0936/116.73. Rick Denny straight back round for his second run of the day. 0.0287 RT, 1.5965 to sixty, 10.9160/125.93.

First run of the day for JDS Street racer Simon Durrans. 12.8723/129.92, off the gas a coup;e of hundred feet out so much more to come there. The 14-reg Alfa back for another go. Reaction Time and sixty best left unpublished, 13.0224/117.13. Back a few minutes later for another turn, 12.0191/117.45.

Next around the corner VW Pro racer Richard Brook, 1.7775 to sixty, 14.2500/93.32. David Lee followed, 9.9837/142.94 from the Spal FWD Golf. Wendall Brand next in his Spal FWD Civic, lost drive not far off the line and pushed back.

Comp Bike racer Dave Batcheler with his first run of the day. 1.2106 to sixty, some tyre spin, bike headed right and Dave backed off, left it go where it wanted to go, crossed lanes just before the eighth but Dave had a hold of it. Did the clever thing there I'd say.

Richard Brook back for another run but held whilst Dave Batcheler was rescued from the shutdown area. 1.7171 sixty, sounded to be taking it a little easy in the second half, 13.8341/96.10.

Jason Dodd next in his Trans Am, 10.9234/125.84. Modurstang Pro ET racer Rick Denny next up in his Firebird, Sportsman Tree request in shoe white, 0.0335 RT and 10.970/124.46. Both OCS Group Big Bracket racers, given his illustrious racing record I would not bet against Rick this weekend.

David Lee back round very quickly, 10.3357/138.54 with hesitation a few feet out. Back a few minutes later, 1.5392 to sixtty, 9.6773/143.38. Kit car back for another go, lots of pops and bangs going down the track but no ill effect, 10.1295/138.98.

Next up a 14-reg Alfa Romeo. Sent back so next round the corner Nathan Hulkes in his Camaro carrying a Big Bracket race number. 0.6663 RT, feathered the throttle 300 feet out, 10.7263/127.35.

First to the bleach box ET Bike racer Phil Pratt. The usual rolling burnout then 0.236 RT, 1.4514 to sixty, 8.9966/151.12, eight-second run always a good start to the day.

One of our Front Wheel Drive contestants next, very tidy VW Golf, 9.8226/143.39. Courtesy of Luke Stevenson we now know that it is David Lee. Street-legal car to boot.

Nice 11.3309/134.02 for a kit car, small wheelie off the line and a brief hesitation so more to come, again no name.

Not unpleasant here at Santa Pod, cloud but that will be gone at some point, the sun breaking through every so often.
