18:05 Funny Bike qualifying session 2 Still no luck for Dave Buttery with a couple of goes at starting and then motor cut out at the hit. Screaming motor and looked like a spray of fluid for Lorcan Parnell. Clean-up ensued.

Competent burnout. Rolled off the line and a squeeze of the pedal about 100 feet out, getting a feel for the steering and the FC environment which will have been somewhat different to the Top Fueller which Birgitte has raced. 17:40 MSA Pro Modified qualifying session 2 (left lane first): Mick Payne 10.7430/100.58 bye; Kev Slyfield 7.4683/214.10 bye; Andy Robinson 6.2428/195.55, Rick Garrett 12.5300/96.25; Bobby Wallace 6.8232/211.10, Jean Dulamon 6.7616/214.84 Bouncy launch for Mick, on and off the throttle. 1.4311 to sixty and 6.5001/108.04 at the eighth. Kev's problem last round was a broken oil line. Shake and a move to the right for Kev, 1.0849 to sixty and off the gas, straightened it out then for hard back on it. 5,1132/157.93 at the eighth. Rick's motor sounded to be misfiring in the burnout, the revs didn't go up very far at all and the tyres didn't strike. Chief Starter Ian Marshall started to count down five... four... on the fingers of one hand to chivvy Rick along as Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy was ready to stage. Andy to sixty in 0.9885 and the eighth ina bouncy 4.0278/184.21, off the gas at 1000 feet or so then no chutes, looked close from here and looked like Andy's brakes were smoking as he made the turn. Rick's motor sounded to die off the line, a pause and then stab or two and idled along the track. 1.0101 to sixty for Bobby with with wheels up and shake, 1.0293 for Jean then drove through shake. Bobby's Willys made a left move and looked like a very brief pedal to get it straight. 4.4921/162.97 at the eighth for Bobby to Jean's 4.4391/163.68. Clean-up at the very end of the shutdown area. 17:30 Super Gas qualifying session 2 Paul Marston up from #5 to #2, in the other lan Andy Harrison recorded his first competitive breakout. Tim Adam's Falcon started to move around at the eighth and he was audibly feathering the throttle. Next pair Stu Doignie moved up from #6 to #5, in the other lane Collin Morrice shut it off at half track. Identical 0.0554 RTs for Mark White and Jon Morton in the last pair.

Multiple Super class Champion Brian Pateman now in Super Pro ET, looked to me like a checkout pass. Another nice burnout by Gordon Northway. Gordon up to #2 but in the other lane Laura Turburville up from #13 to #1 at +0.0146. Al Didwell up from #14 to #11 next pair, looked to roll the beams very slightly. Scott Hauser unusually in the left lane, into #2 at +0.0196. John Gerritsen accompanied by members of Eurodragster.com sponsor Dyno Unlimited. John rolled through stage and his crew committed a Blue Line violation seeing him back, it got to a point where starter David Warren ran round the car to get them clear. One of John's crew got there first on the same errand. Great to see Ron Bartlett back in competition in his Anglia. 8.80 dial-in, foot launch, nice straight pass with no drama. Nick Good Motorsport match-up next, reigning UK National Champion Chris Parker against Brad Jackson. Chris up from #11 to #5 and Brad up from #13 to #7.

15:25 Modurstang Pro ET qualifying session 2 Class sponsor Mike Lacey back for another go after problems in Q1, alongside partner Karen Stevens. 9.11 dial-in again. Karen up to #4. Next pair and Paul Brown's dragster looked to go for a wander at the eighth, Paul held on to it but looked to back off a touch early. Colin Felstead into #1 +0.0057 on dial-in closest today to the Eurodragster.com Prfect ET Award supporting Bloodwise. 10.3152 breakout on a 10.43 for Will Clark but again the dragster went nice and straight, so that's both lanes in which the car is now happy. 9.5583 PB for Keith Herbert on 9.69 dial-in, well done Keith and Team! 0.0093 RT for Lee Huxley, close to the Eurodragster.com / Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award. Nice wheelie for Eurodragster.com sponsor Nic Williams in the Chevelle, the car went and paid Julian a visit at trackside but needless to say Nic stayed on the throttle. Tyre shake whilst wheelying is some feat. In the other lane Lee Guy up to #2. Next pair and a 0.0034 RT for Simon Innes, even closer to the Eurodragster.com / Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award, in the other lane a lot of smoke from Gino Bernadine's motor in the second half and down the shutdown area. Track checked and all OK, here's hoping the motor is good.

14:45 Wild Bunch qualifying session 1 Fantastic run for Tom Hawkins in the Time Traveller 1, that was a Fuel Altered run by a slingshot! Fishtailing like crazy, wrote his name on the track probably including the i and didn't take his foot off for anything, 7.8215 on 7.90 dial-in. Dad Bob unfortunately not alongside to see it as Time Traveller 2 did not start.

Fantastic run for Rick Stubbins to take #1, great pass for Graham Dance in the other lane after problems testing yesterday: G told us that he was using the track as a dyno. Tyre spin for Pete Field next pair, shut it off after 330 feet. Chris Reed's bike heading determinedly for the centreline after a 1.2474 sixty, backed out of it around 1000 feet. Daniel Donat Lencses to sixty in 1.2691 going great guns then had to feather the throttle at half track.

14:00 Comp Bike qualifying session 1 Half pass for Margot Schmidt. In the other lane Scott Collier looked to sit up and roll off the throttle in the second half. Bike owner Steve French spoke highly of Scott's riding skills yesterday, also saying that in testing at Shakespeare County Raceway he had changed the set-up to slow the bike down and Scott had gone quicker on it. Dave Batchelor's motor quit at the hit, in the other lane Mick Winyard took #1 spot at that point. Paul Hambidge blasted into the 7.8s in testing yesterday, long way round today. Sean Mills into #1 in the other lane. Last pair Mark Hope on what looks like Danny Cockerill's SSB, Eddy Smiley in the other lane had a rough ride or two yesterday but no dramas today.

Funny Bike qualifying session 1 Great pair of runs to open the session, Phil Crosslet and Allan Davies, mmoke from Phil Crossley's motor in the shutdown area. Track checked and all OK hopefully nothing amiss. Dave Buttery pushed back from the bleach box. Side by side problems off the line for Jiri Lukes and Lorcan Parnell. Dave Buttery back for another go, rolled through stage. Nice opener for Eric Richard after provlems in testing yesterday and a time on the board for Thomas who similarly had a few issues yesterday.

First competitive outing for Janet Lawson in her BMW, Janet previously crewing with Elaine Hancock but wanted a go herself. 15.9092 breakout on 16.00. 12:55 Exhibition session Rod Harrison (Top Methanol Dragster) 6.5728/160.79 bye Rod Harrison's motor idling high after the burnout and no reverse, track crew and Rod's own crew tried to push it back but then Karl arrived and sorted out the idle, reverse engaged. Launched as if shot from a gun, 1.0010 to sixty, a couple of pedals and sounded to be misfiring in the second half maybe gear selection problem. Off the gas before the stripe. Julian Webb (Jet Dragster) 6.7198/234.89 12:45 Nostalgia Funny Car session 1 Tim Garlick shut off (bye); Tony Betts shut off (bye); Tony Betts 10.5643/72.38 bye Great burnout for Tim but then shut off and pushed back. Not immediately obvious from here what the problem was. First run in this car for Tony Betts with previous car owner Richard Hartman in attendance from the USA. Started up but then shut off for rain in the air. Having been given cooldown time Tony came back for another go. 1.1388 to sixty, 3.0902 to 330 feet then off the gas although from the car's body language I am not sure that the blower belt didn't break. Smoke from both banks after shutting off and all the way down the shutdown area. 12:40 ACU Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 1 (left lane first): Neil Midgley 13.4262/58.13 bye; Rene van den Berg 10.4093/100.60, Steve Woollatt 7.9973/107.94 Al Smith puts aside the prawn cocktail to crew with Midgo. Very nice launch for Midgo, 1.1306 to sixty with slight fishtailing, off the gas about 200 feet out. Rene almost back from his burnout before Steve pulled his burnout, but very short so both ready to stage at the same time. Rene spanked Steve at the Tree 0.2442 to 0.3862, 1.0965 to sixty to Steve's 1.0799. Rene's tyre up in smoke at 50 feet and he had to feather, Steve straight and true rolling off the gas before the eighth 4.2973/141.49. Rene gently back on then off the gas. Qualifying after this session:
12:20 MSA Pro Modified qualifying session 1 (left lane first): Bobby Wallace 6.6454/212.83 bye; Mick Payne shut off (bye); Rick Garrett shut off, Kev Slyfield 22.6745/46.54 DQ bye; Rick Garrett 16.3368/60.54 bye; Jean Dulamon 10.4550/88.39 bye; Andy Robinson shut off (bye); Andy Robinson 7.2249/150.12 bye 1.0229 to sixty for Bobby, some hesitation in the first 100 feet or so but stayed with it, 4.3309/164.77 to the eighth, nice straight pass with no drama and a great baseline. Nice burnout for Mick but the motor idling very high upon pulling to a halt and had to shut off, pushed back. Great burnouts by Rick and Kev but then Rick shut off and was pushed back to about 250 feet then evacuated so that Kev could take his bye. 1.1704 to sixty for Kev with the motor zinging then and the car turned hard left and crossed the line, a trail of oil on the track told the tale of that one. Kev got off the gas very quickly, got a hold of it and pulled it back into his lane, idled through. Hold for clean-up ensued. On the restart Rick went straight to stage with no burnout, you can probably guess what happened next. Stood up on its rear tyres and not much forward motion. Off the gas and idled through. Great burnout by Jean, as he got off the gas the Camaro turned hard right and crossed lanes. Shut off then re-fired and went for the three-point turn, fluid on the track but looked like fuel overflow so Jean permitted to carryon back to the start line to make his run. Kangaroo run ensued, front wheels up and flames from the exhausts every time Jean hit the throttle including an impressive wheelie about 200 feet out. Jean on and off the gas all the way down. Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy on his way back from the burnout then shut off as word came back from the top end crew that we had oil from Jean's car in the shutdown area. On the restart 1.0663 to sixty for Andy, tyres shaking and motor screaming, a pedal then back on it, off it by the eighth 4.4895/179.85 and hard on the brakes in the second half. 11:10 Comp Eliminator qualifying session 1 Wheelie and double-step off the line for Rob Smallworth, pulled over and stopped just before the eighth, retrieval called and I am guessing something locked as the car was put on dollies to move it.

10:35 Super Comp qualifying session 1 Paul Letchford and Pete Creswell first pair, someone audibly pedalled at half track but difficult to tell from
here who it was... comparing eighth speeds I would guess Paul. The Drumin' Man dragster on double duty this weekend,
Leah Kellett in the seat for Super Comp. Dragster heading right all the way, Leah shut it off at half track.
10:30 Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator qualifying session 1 Side-by-side Hales in the first pair. Burnout of the season so far. Slight wheelspin for Nick at the hit but
stayed with it. Stu Williams in his daily drive by the look of it, in the other lane Alex McIntosh showcasing his
Mustang which is for sale, wheelspin at the hit and had to pedal. Just like we told you in our Autosport International
report Mark Todd back for the season, another welcome return. Great pass to take #1 spot.
10:25 Gearhead Garage UK Super Pro ET qualifying session 1 Early shut-offs for first pair John Atkinson and Dave Russell, a flash of flame from Dave's left bank at half
track. A minute or so hold for spots in the air. Great to see 2015 UK National Champion Simon Gough back on track,
successful day's testing yesterday and the refettled Package looks great. Into #1 spot at that point to boot. Next
pair and our very welcome German visitor Jens Könnecke lost fire after the burnout, pushed back. Joe Kellett
took the bye, breakout but the team looked very happy with it. Great new colurs on the Giles and Hartley Dragster
and in the other lane a welcome return for Al Didwell. Kirsty and Daniel Giles' baby is due next week, Daniel crewing
rather than driving just-in-case I suspect. Barry into #2 at that point. Great last-photographer burnout by Gordon
Northway, Billy Everitt not to be outdone went exactly the same distance in the other lane. Yes you're not reading
things, Billy Everitt is racing in both Lucas Oil Junior Dragster and Gearhead Garage UK Super Pro ET this weekend.
Altered started moving right and Billy shut it off after the eighth. Minor clean-up in Gordon's lane after #2 at
that point. Next run, Laura Turburville on a solo, serious left and right moves at the eighth and she shut it off.
Jens back for another go, 8.12 dial-in, 8.2865 for #3 at that point. Great 150-foot burnout by Martyn Jones to
blow the cobwebs out, in the other lane Ian Brown held for small clean-up in his lane so he waited to run alongside Phil Toppin
next pair. Martyn pedalled a couple of times in the first hundred feet, dragster moved about at 330 feet and you
could hear Syd feathering. Ian with no reverse after the burnout drove to the emergency exit. Next pair and
Scott Hauser into #1 +0.0567 on dial-in. Another welcome visitor John Gerritsen with a great burnout in the '55
Bel Air. 7.90 dial-in, shut it off and anchors out at the eighth, 8.1866 even so - I guess that was a breakout
in the making right there.
10:05 Modurstang Pro ET qualifying session 1 A big Hello to much-missed Carla Pittau and Rick McCann who are tuned in from Sweden. Great opener for Will Clark and more
importantly a straight run after the little dragster was making moves in testing yesterday. 9.11 dial-in for class sponsor
Mike Lacey which I think will be something around a PB if he does it... but not this time, pushed back before staging. Breakout
for Lee Guy but we believe his first-ever nine-second pass, well done Lee! Impressive 15.6087 RT for Keith Herbert in the last
pair.
09:50 Lucas Oil Junior Dragster qualifying session 1 A big Thank You to Sarah Payne, UK National Champion Jordan Payne, and Nigel Payne for the sugar-free cakes, much appreciated.
Junior Stock Dragster now has an 11.90 lower limit rather than 12.90. First to leave the line in the 2017 UK National
Championships Billy Everitt at 0.0581, in the other lane 2015 National
Champion Lottie Bradford got one of those weird reds without the car moving. Lottie pushed back and back for another
go. Same again next pair, 0.0685 for Caitlin Wilson but in the right lane Morgan Wilson got the instant red without the car
moving. Harley Coulsell with a great 0.0168 for his first competitive outing with the car upgraded to Junior Modified.
Morgan and Lottie back for another go, Lottie's motor stopped off the line but she recorded a Reaction Time so safely
in the ladder. 0.4060 for Kaitlan Deevey then stopped on the track at 1000 feet, retrieval called.

07:15 Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway for our coverage of the Festival of Power brought to you in asociation with
John Woolfe Racing.
The plan for today is for the usual real-time reports and results of the on-track action together with Simon's pit
notes updated throughout the day and a gallery of Julian's shots at the end of the day. As things stand there will no
webcast this weekend. But then you knew that because that has been the case with this event for some years, and because
you have paid close attention to the coverage schedule and news page as we asked. So no-one is going to E-Mail or test
our patience with plaintive questions on Facebook are they? Good. If you do insist on posting and you get a strained or
sarcastic response then no playing the victim as is the way of social media or you may learn some new words. The webcast
will be back for next Friday's Peak Performance Day.

High cloud and a very gentle breeze outside, hints of blue sky amongst the cloud. As I type two Mr Whippy vans are pulling
in to the pits, always a good sign.
