Super Comp eliminations round 3

Drama in the first pair, perfect 0.0008 for Paul Brown but then his dragster turned left after the stripe and headed for the guardrail, Paul managed to pull it parallel to the wall before it impacted rather than a head-on crash which would have been a lot more nasty. Safety crews moved instantly, Paul was getting himself out of the car as they arrived.

Micke Kågered 7.9857/83.18 bye, Duncan Micallef no show

Duncan had a bearing leaking into the flywheel and clutch so a no show. Micke took the bye, 0.8568 to sixty with bad shake, shut it off passing the Tree.

Jndia Erbacher followed the Top Fuel Dragster final with a 5.7021/237.75 checkout pass in the injected-nitro Top Methanol dragster. 0.9794 to sixty, a pedal before the eighth 3.7452/207.14.

FIA Top Methanol Dragster final

Dennis Habermann 5.3209/269.89 def. Timo Habermann 5.3053/269.78

If I hear one more time "I predict a win for Habermann" when Timo and Dennis race I will kill someone. Great race! Dennis away first 0.0247 to Timo's 0.0562, Timo with the better sixty 0.8844 to Dennis', Timo's tyres were flapping like crazy but he drove through the shake. Dennis with the better ET at the eighth and Timo with the better speed 3.4919/215.98 and 3.4941/216.54 respectively, smoke from Timo's motor in the second half, track checked and all OK. Someone's blower panel blew with a thud right on the stripe, couldn't tell whose. Holeshot win for Dennis and Andy Marrs tells us that this was the quickest-ever side-by-side in European Top Methanol Dragster.

Best run of the season for Tim Garlick and a new PB for Nick Davies. Well done Tim and team and Nick, Rob and team! A special Thank You to all of those responsible for bringing Rat Trap and the Bradford's Fiat over to Europe.

Micke Gullqvist 5.8896/243.83 def. Mats Eriksson 6.1134/234.05

Mats got the jump 0.0841 to 0.0962 but Micke quickly started to make it up, 0.9680 to sixty to Mats' 0.9898. Micke's tyres were shaking some but it was the acceptable amount I'd imagine since there was no corrective action save steering back to the middle of the lane. Mats' tyres were shaking to about 200 feet then blackstriping, Micke to the eighth in a storming 3.8650/190.95 to Mats' 4.0229/185.67. Micke took the stripe by 0.2117.

FIA Pro Stock final

Bengt Ljungdahl 6.5388/210.85 def. Jimmy Ålund 6.6164/209.14

Jimmy visibly moved first 0.0201 to Bengt's 0.0922, Bengt had the better sixty 0.9460 to 0.9997, Jimmy looked to drive through shake and Bengt's lead increased by the eighth 4.1890/166.97 to Jimmy's 4.2681/165.92 although Bengt's car made a move to the right just past the eighth. Had it covered and took the stripe by 0.0055 seconds or 20.24 inches.

European Nitro Funny Car Series final

Gordon Smith 7.1848/97.50 def. Kevin Kent 4.2974/287.71 DQ

-0.0817 red by Kevin gave this to Gordon who dodged a bullet. 0.9457 to sixty then shake and the Shockwave FC headed for the centre line and got very close. Off the gas before the eighth 4.9297/97.50. Kevin on a real stormer, Personal Best speed for Kevin, congratulations Kevin and team, but drove through the quarter mile reflectors. Congratulations to Kevin Kent and team on winning the 2016 European Nitro Funny Car Series.

FIM Europe Super Street Bike final

Garry Bowe 6.9806/209.13 def. Steve Venables 7.0366/208.01

The winner wins the Championship. Ven away first 0.0650 to Garry's 0.0817, Ven had the better sixty 1.2272 to Garry's 1.2403 but then Ven's bike wheelied more than once and he lost time controlling it, Garry with the better eighth 4.6484/167.85 to Ven's 4.6734/165.34. Congratulations to 2016 FIM Europe Super Street Bike Cup Champion Garry Bowe.

FIM Europe Top Fuel Bike final

Filipppos Papafilippou 6,7396/206.17 def. Rikard Gustafsson 7.7947/112.22

Incrementals to follow. Fil visibly got away first 0.0985 to 0.4668, Rikard had the better sixty 1.0547 to 1.1037 and was clearly pulling away towards the eighth but then lost drive and the motor groaned, looked and sounded like a drive belt and off the gas but still had the better eighth 4.2265/141.06 to Fil's 4.3823/160.04. Fil passed Rikard and took the stripe by 1.4234. Rikard had to win the race to take the Championship so Ian King is your 2016 FIM Europe Top Fuel Bike Champion, congratulations to Ian and team on yet another European title.

FIM Europe Supertwin final

Martijn de Haas 6.6650/211.82 def. Chris Hannam no time broke

Not a foot wrong for Martijn, win the race to win the Championship and that's what he did. Away first 0.0911 to Cannon's 0.3253, Cannon's motor hesitated and then there was an explosion, start line safety crew sprinted to his aid. Martijn to sixty in 1.1784 and the eighth in 4.3880/175.41, his best run of the weekend and the 2016 FIM Europe Supertwin Championship, congratulations Martijn and team!

Fredrik Fredlund 6.9787/189.72 def. Martin Newbury 7.7716/130.95 DQ

-0.2698 red for Eurodragster.com sponsor Martin gave it to Fredde. 1.052 to sixty, 4.4348/156.24 at the eighth and a new European ET record, well done Fredde and team! Fredde had to do the trio of win, ET and speed records to take the title, didn't get the speed so the 2016 FIM Europe Pro Stock Bike Championship goes to Gert-Jan Laseur, congratulations Gert-Jan and team!

Championship decider, winner is Champion and that 2016 FIA European Pro Modified Champion is Micke Gullqvist. Micke away first 0.0847 to 0.0883 and the better sixty 0.9673 to Bruno's 0.9734. Bruno tried to drive though shake and has to pedal as the Vette headed for the centre line with body panels flapping. Micke's Camaro also heading for the centre line but not in such dramatic fasion, storming 3.8830/191.02 to the eighth to Bruno's 4.0413/182.00. Congratulations Micke and team!

Rene to sixty in 1.0866 to Fil's 1.1016 but then tyre started to shake, bike headed left, Rene feathered the throttle and looked like cylinders out as the bike approached the guardrail so off the gas. Fil through the eighth in 4.3312/170.82 to Rene's slowing 4.3662/150.43. 1.1014 to sixty for Stu, 1.0721 for Rikard then Rikard started to get into his stride, 3.9875/193.44 at the eighth to 4.5326/`56.16 for Stu, Rikard's bike fishtaling but he hung on to it then put the chute out just before the stripe. Rikard can win the title by winning the event.

...and the 2016 FIA European Top Fuel Dragster Championship goes to Anita Mäkelä. Micke visibly away first 0.0806 to Stig's 0.2721, Stig with the better sixty 0.8740 to Micke's 0.8583. Micke to 330 feet in 2.2450 to Stig's 2.2451 visibly creeping up on Micke, then smoke from Stig's motor and looked like the tyres turned, either way Stig's dragster briefly disappeared into the smoke. Micke to the eighth in 3.2301/257.98 to Stig's slowing 3.2661/243.31 and Micke took the stripe by 0.3851. Commiserations to Stig, congratulations to Anita!

Who said "Uncomplicated"? 1.0120 to sixty for Ian with tyre shaking then tyre up in smoke, off and on the throttle and tyre up in smoke again, once more and cylinders out and shut off. Stu to sixty in 1.0986, the eighth in 4.5776/156.22. Steve left Rikard for dead at the Tree 0.1357 to 0.3537 and had the better sixty 1.0454 to 1.0517. Steve's bike started to drift right and he had to back it off after the eighth 4.1386/152.98. Rikard to the eighth in 3.9751/191.79, put the chute out before ths stripe. Glenn with the one allowed restart after his burnout but then shut off. Rene took the bye, 1.0497 to sixty with shake which pitched his bike towards the centre line and he shut off. Rene or Rikard could now both take the title by winning the event.

Great run for Martijn to lay down his claim to the Championship, 1.2468 to sixty and 4.5144/173.52 to the eighth. Ronny left for dead at the Tree then a pop and shut off about 100 feet out. 1.1491 to sixty for Roman, 4.4445/164.53 at the eighth.

Visible holeshot for Dennis 0.0633 to Rod's 0.1993 and the much better sixty 0.9868 to Rod's 1.0517, Dennis' tyres were flapping but he drove through the shake like it wasn't happening. Vapour from the back of Rod's motor getting worse as he progressed and he was off the gas before the eighth 3.9352/164.12. Dennis was long through the eighth by then at 3.7387/204.79. A lot of fluid found in Rod's lane, clean-up ensued.

Dave Wilson 5.5519/253.80 def. Jonny Lagg 7.8524/111.41

Jonny away first 0.0450 to 0.1655, Grumpy had the better sixty 0.9643 to 0.9793. Jonny hit bad shake past the Tree, pedalled and hit more shake and the dragster all but jumped to the left and almost had the centre line, off the gas about 400 feet out. Grumpy straight and true, through the eighth in 3.6882/211.92.

Gordon in stage a fair while before Kevin went in, lights ran almost immediately Kevin staged and his tyres went up in smoke at the hit, 1.5164 to sixty already off the gas. 0.9404 to sixty for Gordon, FC started to move left and tyres looked to be shaking. Off the gas at about 330 feet, to the eighth in 4.2289/122.31 but a time on the board for the final later on today.

This Championship is a simple case of who goes furthest in eliminations, Anita Mäkelä or Stig Neergaard, if they go an equal distance then it's Anita.

Anita Mäkelä 4.0350/290.30 bye, Steve Ashdown shut off

Very gassy up here in the Eurodragster.com office after the burnouts. Steve's motor leaned out and then popped and stopped on the return from the burnout, car owner and tuner Rune Fjeld looked absolutely mystified. Anita to sixty in 0.8451, drove through shake, 3.2074/257.53 at the eighth, blackstriping all the way, smoke then a flash of flame then a proper fire from the right side of Anita's motor in the shutdown area. Clean-up at the top end.

Duncan Micallef 3.8960/311.99 def. Liam Jones 5.6443/118.85

The Maltese Lion on a mission in this one. Duncan away fist 0.1000 to Liam's 0.1220 and the better sixty 8.8380 to Liam's 0.8454, Duncan drove through mild shake past the Tree but Liam's tyres started to shake and the dragster moved left, Liam pedalled and got back on it and the tyres blackstiped and the dragster turned hard right, Liam had to give it up at that point. Duncan's dragster drifting left but he stayed on it, 3.1126/271.05 at the eighth and a new track record, well done Duncan, Rune and team!

Micke Kågered 4.3612/264.69 def. Tethys 4.3591/208.88

Micke visibly moved first 0.1371 to 0.2418 and had the better sixty 0.8724 to 0.8559. Micke had shake and then smoke as his tyres hourglassed, Tet drove through shake and the dragster turned left, cylinder out and tyres started to smoke. In the other lane two side body panels came off Micke's car and flew through the air landing in Tet's lane but behind Tet's dragster. A lot happening at once but Tet looked to pedal and get back on it briefly, to the eighth in 3.3042/240.01 to Micke's shut off 3.4654/234.52 but then off it and in any case Micke had enough of a lead to take the holeshot win.

Stig Neergaard 4.0503/292.01 def. Urs Erbacher 4.4445/247.93

Simple one for Stig here, win or Anita takes the Championship. Eurodragster.com sponsor Urs looking to spoil Stig's day. Started well enough for Urs 0.0965 to Stig's 0.1348 but Stig started to take it back by sixty 0.8570 to Urs' 0.8889, Us' tyres started to shake about 120 feet out and he tried to drive through it but had to pedal past 330 feet 2.2789, 2.2230 to 330 feet for Stig and 3.2172/252.88 at the eighth, Urs losing time and speed to the pedal 3.4425/202.33. Stig through by 0.3559.

Lucas Oil Junior Dragster eliminations round 1

Nice 0.0033 RT for Roman Sixta Jr in his race against Saskia Fensome Jell. 0.0028 seconds or 4.00 inches in the race between Aaron Femsome and Morgan Wilson. Holley Marshall a no-show for her race with Ruaridh Hart, broken rod in the dragster and too tall for comfort in the Funny Car, Your Reporter is not sure what being too tall means but either way no Holley.

This race key in the MSA British Championship. Daylight holeshot for Bert, 0.0835 to Michel's 0.3313 and then the hunt was on. Michek to sixty in 0.9761 to Bert's 1.0185, Bert drove through shake and the Coupe was headed towards the centre line but he hung on to it and pulled it back. Michel to the eighth in 3.9364/187.30 to Bert's 4.1092/178.94, Bert's motor groaned in the second half, Michel took it by 0.0358. PBs for Michel, well done Michel and team!

Norbert Kuno 6.3036/227.02 def. Thomas Stiefel 9.0937/129.14

Thomas away first 0.1075 to Norbert's 0.1832, Norbert with the better sixty 0.9929 to Thomas' 1.0317, Thomas' Chevy hit bad shake and turned hard right and he had to pedal. Norbert long gone at the eighth 4.1236/174.95. Thomas got it straight and squeezed the throttle through to the stripe.

Kev Slyfield 6.3387/221.23 def. Marck Harteveld 29.2372/21.36

Kev away first 0.0420 to 0.1668, huge shak for Marck and motor screamed, 1.1555 to sixty and shut off and rolled slowly to the stripe. Kev to sixty in 0.9901, drove through clearly noticeable shake himself but stayed with it, 4.1266/176.83 at the eighth and first to the other end by 23.0233.

A good outcome for Eurodragster.com either way as both Andy and Marco sponsor the Eurodragsterholics' favourite web site. Marco visibly moved frst 0.0595 to Andy's 0.1815, Andy with the better sixty 1.0103 to Marco's 1.0292 with shake then smoke, a pedal and more shke and the Vette started to turn right. Another pedal giving Andy the chance to get clear by the eighth 4.0713/178.41 to Marco's 4.7252/163.59. Word from our good friend Bob Roberts in Andy's pit is that he has suffered major engine damage and will not be appearing next round.

Bruno Bader 6.0273/232.84 def. David Vegter 6.0917/233.76

Bruno had to win this one to stay in the Championship chase. Bruno away first 0.1333 to 0.1471, the much better sixty 0.9904 to 1.0252 as David drove through shake which drifted his car close to the centre line. Bruno to the eighth in 3.9348/188.78 and something small came off his car. 4.017 to the eighth for David, both close to the centre line in the second eighth. Bruno took the stripe by 0.0782.

This one all Mats, away first 0.1283 to 0.1402, much better sixty 0.9898 to Jean's 1.1140. Jean drove through shake whilst Mats had a clean getaway, 3.9670/186.52 at the eighth and way ahead of Jean by then 4.5189/164.62. Mats first by 0.9068 and Jean off it before the stripe.

Johan Lindberg 6.0175/238.56 def. Roger Moore 17.3481/43.64

Johan visibly moved first 0.1048 to Roger's 0.1407 and had the better sixty 0.9986 to Roger's 1.1186, flames from Roger's right exhaust and then a nitrous burp and he was off the gas there. Storming 3.9573/190.15 for Johan, chutes out in the traps so more left in The Old 51.

Micke Gullqvist 6.0519/242.88 def. Marcus Hilt 6.4952/223.37 DQ

Bruno through, Micke had to win this one. Win he did firstly courtesy of Marco's -0.0756 red. 0.9646 to sixty for Micke, shake and a move left and a pedal, 4.0086/187.41 to the eighth.
