15:35 VW Pro eliminations round 1 James Hodson a no-show for his race with Richard Brook. Drama in the race between Carl Goldsmith and Sam Young, Carl going great guns chasing Sam down but then a cloud of smoke, fluid and then a fire from Carl's Golf, Carl hard on the brakes but then looked like the car slid on the fluid, turned left and hit the guardrail just past the finish line. Safety crews again there in moments. Carl got himself out of the car and is OK. On the restart Paul Jordan took the chance to break out and go into the nines after Samir Lukac redlit.

14:45 Simon has uploaded a set of pit notes which you can check out via the Event Index. Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator eliminations round 1 Nigel Hale and Al Williamson shut off on the line for sprinkles of rain. The sprinkles turned into a short deluge but again we dodged a bullet, .44 calibre at that, as we only caught the edge of the storm and the bulk of the rain passed south of us. The track crew did yet another great job of drying and preparing the strip. Fantastic race between Gary Gooding and Matt Smith, Gary with a visible holeshot and into the sevens, Matt overhauled him in the second half. Stu Williams a no-show for his race with Martin Smith, Martin's tyres broke traction passing the Tree, the Bentley turned hard left and he shut off and rolled to a halt at the eighth.

Great paired burnouts. Fantastic match! Tim visibly away first 0.1696 to 0.3191, Rod had the better sixty 1.0205 to Tim's 1.0424. Rod was well advanced on the task of reeling Tim in at the eighth 3.8544/190.95 to Tim's 4.0268/187.28, Rod took the stripe by 0.0471 or 15.92 feet. Jet Dragster match race (1000 feet): Martin Hill 4.5945/206.09, Julian Webb shut off. Great flame and thunder show from both cars but then an afterburner line broke on Julian's car spraying fuel on the track and he had to shut off. Martin took the bye; 0.9403 to sixty, storming 3.5664/224.50 at the eighth then shut off and chute out. 12:10 European Nitro Funny Car Series qualifying session 3 (left lane first) Kevin Kent 6.1471/105.52, Gordon Smith 5.5384/131.49 Gordon away first 0.2286 to 0.3561, Kevin had the better sixty 0.9279 to 0.9687. Both cars going great guns past 330 but then a bang and a big flash of flame from Kevin's motor, blower panel I am guessing, 4.4186/130.43 at the eighth on the brakes. Gordon's tyres were blackstriping after 330 feet and he was off the gas before the eighth 3.9048/159.38. Kev got the car stopped at the second exit with safety crews in hot pursuit. 12:00 Exhibition Liam Jones (Top Fuel Dragster) 10.3851/58.27 bye 0.9027 to sixty with tyres shaking, shut off about 100 feet out, something came off the car and followed Liam down the track. Steve Ashdown (Top Fuel Dragster) shut off, bye Second licencing pass for Steve. Eurodragster.com sponsor Chris Isaacs and Mick Payne both withdrawn. The Duster has turbo damage, no word on Mick's Camaro. Michel Tooren followed with a licencing pass in the Cuda. Looked from here like a transmission problem, motor screamed for mercy but no forward movement, no smoke from the tyres so it wasn't tyre spin. A pedal and another go but shut off and stopped at 330 feet. 11:35 Would you believe a third 0.000 Reaction Time in a row for Steve Warner in the Two Seat Dragster, 0.0003, well done Steve! Super Street Bike eliminations round 1 Steve Wood a no-show for his race against Steve Venables, check out Ven's speed into a stiff headwind. Kristian Jasz similarly a no-show against Garry Bowe, Garry backed out of it after his bike headed for the guardrail. Graham Dance's motor stopped at the hit, Rick Stubbins had to feather the throttle as the bike drifted towards the rail. Graham Balchin's tyre screeched and he had to get off and on the throttle, Boisy took the chance to run away from him. Daniel Donat Lencses a no-show for his race against Alex Hope.

11:25 Super Pro ET eliminations round 1 Brad Jackson's motor hesitated briefly at launch, John Przybyl had the better RT and Brad couldn't make it up. Excellent paired burnouts by Phil Toppin and Billy Gane before their race. Very long way round for Dave Russell, got close to the guardrail and getting it back lost him time. Bob Doyle a no-show for his race against Craig Wright, engine damage and in fact we just saw Bob and Tracey towing out, hope to see the Z Case back soon. Craig +0.0647 on dial-in. Paul Marston staged for the round win as Tom van der Wijden was a no-show, Tom returned to The Netherlands last night.

11:15 Pro ET eliminations round 1 Nigel Green a no-show for his race against Mike Lacey. Another step to the right for Eurodragster.com Steve Hudson, had a good hold of it though. Looked like transmission problems for Leigh Morris, jumped out of gear or breakage - hopefully the former, car moved a couple of feet and the motor zinged. Hesitation off the line for Paul Marston's Monza, Tony Harter had a start line advantage so no way Paul could make it up. Annie Wallace's first round of competition in Pro ET, up against Keith Herbert. Great 0.0955 RT but broke out. Huge wheelie for Eurodragster.com sponsor Nic Williams even by his standards, car turned left whilst the front end was in the air, when it came down Nic hit it again to try to get it straight and it promptly wheelied again. Crossed the centre line just before the 330 foot reflector but deftly pulled it back into his own lane, it was a fag paper job with the reflector. Trail of fluid from the car's first touchdown point. Spots of rain during the clean-up but we dodged a bullet as the radar showed that a huge area of rain went south of us. Liz Malcolm a no-show for her race against Glenn Pallant. Glenn's right hand door came open approaching the stripe. Looked and sounded like Geoff Cowley's Nova jumped out of gear, stopped off the line, in the other lane a very gutsy drive by Rhiannon Bellenie as her dragster was moving left and right in the second hald.

07:40 Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod for our coverage of the Festival of Power brought to you in association with John Woolfe Racing. It's a bright and sunny morning here at Santa Pod, some cloud but mainly blue sky. Currently a little chilly but once the sun has come up a bit that will change. The breeze has moved round again and is now head-on. We had forty days' and forty nights' worth of rain in a couple of hours yesterday evening, not to mention a gale, but the track is showing little sign of it - the racing surface is largely dry and the crew are concentrating on the shutdown area. Attentive readers will already know that there is no webcast this weekend. The webcam is scheduled to be back at Big Bang on 22nd-24th April. Nitro FM are however streaming and you can tune in via the link on the Event Index or at www.eurodragster.com/nitrofm. The traditional Raceday Hello to our US Correspondent Kathy Hileman who is tuned in from Rye, NH. Hope you are doing OK Kathy.
