Super Pro ET racer Laura Turburville is back-up girl for Ramon van der Weurf's Nostalgia Funny car at this event. Regular back-up girl Kirsten Van Croonenborgh is unable to attend with car problems.

Paul Lisle is running his '69 Hemi GTX in Nostalgia Super Stock, which has almost forty entries for this event.

Long-time Mopar enthusiast Dave Billadeau has a Plymouth Belvedere Wagon with a 451ci engine. .

Paul Dale's Acute Angle has supercharger fitted and he was making test passes with the new setup.

Graham Scrivens has a neat setup in his road-legal Anglia.

Limited Funz Racing's Wrathchild dragster is run by Rob and Pete Brown from Tamworth. The engine is a 305ci SBC with Powerglide and Sherpa rear axle. Best times to date are 11.02/120.

Gary Norman, son of British Drag Racing Hall of Fame member Dennis Norman is here with two of the legendary bikes he ran in the late 60s and early 70s. The twin 650cc Triumph in this picture qualified for the 1970 NHRA US Nationals out of sixty bikes entered for an eight bike field, NHRA's first ever Top Fuel Bike eliminator. He said 'My father raced the bike at Santa Pod until 1973, being the second in the nines, and more recently rebuilt it to run in sprints which he did until five years ago when he was 86 years old. I then rebuilt it with as many original parts as possible and a new Wade blower - the original one was from an Aston Martin and was sold to an Aston owner'. Now running on 25% nitro, the bike will be started this weekend and Dennis will be attending for the Saturday autograph session in the marquee.

Dennis Norman's Conquest twin engined Norton bike took shape after Norton donated two engines in 1973. Gary Norman said 'The bike never ran that well as the engine hadn't been bench tested and the oil ways into the cylinder heads weren't properly drilled which caused the valves to stick. It also had a torque converter and a supercharger, but after Tom Christenson visited the UK, both those items were removed and Dennis got a Hilborn injection setup and Pete Miller two speed transmission'. The bike had sat for 38 years unstarted and has now been recommissioned with air shifter and will be started up on methanol. Both bikes were entirely handbuilt by Dennis, a consummate engineer. When the bike gets on track it will be ridden by Matthew Norman, Dennis's grandson and ex-British Superbike racer.

Norm Wheeldon will be making runs in the Too Much dragster this weekend. Co-owner Herb Andrews said 'We fired the car for the first time in four years a few days ago and it sounded great. The last time we ran it at Santa Pod we had a 7.4s run shut off before the eighth mile. This weekend we will run the car as and when we can. It's great having Bob Muravez here this weekend as he advised Norm on driving a twin engined slingshot and John Peters (owner of the Freight Train) advised on the engine linkage.

Mark Bishop is entered in the slingshot showdown, for dragsters running 8.50 or better. 'This season we ran at the Classic Ford show and the Nostalgia Nationals, so our runs in the car are almost into double figures. It has a Powerglide and transbrake but I will be doing footbrake launches as it went to the left on a 3000rpm launch. We are also now running C12 rather than pump gas

US Fuel Altered racer Ron Hope and photo journalist Andy Willsheer enjoyed a chat during a short rain delay this afternoon. Ron said 'It's great to be here and we will be looking to put on a great show with Randy Bradford's Topolino and Nick Davies's Havoc.'

Spencer Tidswell who ran an Outlaw Anglia for some years is now in this Willys named Battleaxe Warriors, achieving nines on his first outings.

Outlaw Flat Four racer Phil Jarvis runs this camper van The Fire Bus with a wild exhaust system. For its size it runs well in the heads-up class, with a best of 11.62/114.

Adrian Portelli's Dodge Charger has a 493ci engine and races in Nostalgia Super Stock.

Phil West runs the Natural High Beetle in Outlaw Flat Four with a best of 10.90/124.

Vito Versluys from Belgium races the Geko Tuning VW in Outlaw Flat Four. The wheelying car has run a best of 11.75/110.
