Super Gas qualifying session 8

First pair and a nice 0.0033 RT by Jon Giles and up to #2 +0.0082 on index. Another great RT by Collin Morrice next pair, 0.0028. 0.0098 RT by Stu Doignie in the last pair of the session. Eight cars ran in this session, six of them broke out.

Big twisty wheelie by Eurodragster.com sponsor Nic Williams, the Camaro headed for the guardrail but Nic kept it
shiny side up and didn't hit anything including our photographer Julian. Dave Cherrett up from #26 to #18 towards 
the end of the session. Nice run for John Dalrymple to end the session, #27 to #9. 0.079 seconds on dial-in gets you
into the top 23!

Super Comp qualifying session 7

The index-bust match-up between Paul Brown and Richie Webb duly took place first pair, 8.2157/161.90 for Paul to Richie's 8.3213/142.09 off
the gas early as the Beetle, you know what I'm going to say, got out of shape in the second half. Well, particularly out of shape, it
quite often goes astray. Another gutsy drive for Richie whilst Paul's occasionally-wayward shorty looked from here to go arrow straght. Great 
entertainment from both Richie and Paul. Tom Margesson into the 8.9s in Andy Williams' rail after breaking out once or twice. 
Nice 0.0080 RT by Collin Morrice in the last pair.

Improvement for Alex McIntosh but stayed in place. Mark Todd with another chance to back up his ET record and Eurodragster.com
sponsor Jon Webster in the other lane had run a back-up if he went quicker... academic as Mark clocked 7.333 which is as quick as he
could go to be backed up by his previous pass. Well done Mark! That was also the quickest pairing in Street Eliminator history, 
7.4457/187.36 for Jon in the left lane and 7.3333/195.44 for Mark in the right lane.

consistent run and consistent with his testing here this week. 1.0231 to sixty for Ian, then his rear slick started to smoke

Roman's motor hesitated at the hit, coughed and spluttered and then there was a bang and the motor stopped. 
Roman pulled over just past half track. Minor clean-up where the bike came to a stop. 1.2552 to sixty for Job,
the bike was leaning to the right and Job held on as long as he dared before feathering the throttle. 5.0611/135.68
at the eighth. Great pass for Martijn, front wheel didn't come down until about half track. 1.2305 to sixty

Another go at the final licencing pass for Liam. Licence signed off and number one qualifier, fantstic run! 
0.9047 to sixty, a brief pedal just before the eighth 3.2895/255.17 and on the gas all the way to the thousand.
Congratulations Liam! Similar situation for Birgitte, a run over 260 mph required to complete licencing and the
requisite run would stand as a qualifier. 0.9108 to sixty, 3.3320/243.61 to the eighth and looked to be off the gas
just after the eighth, body language of the car suggested a broken blower belt but difficult to say at this
distance. Fantastic run for Anita! 0.8451 to sixty, 2.1931 to 330 feet, 3.1565 at a big 264.69 at the eighth, 
blackstriping some and her tyre tracks suggested that Anita drove it out the back door and into #1 spot. 0.8602 
to sixty for Micke and then hideous shake and shut it off about 1000 feet out. Tethys back from his burnout stopped very
close to the start line and the crew dived in to push him back a bit further. 0.8827 to sixty for Tet and 0.8898 for
Duncan, terrible shake for Duncan and shut it off, a chute deployed before the eighth. 2.3493 to 330 feet for Tet but 
then both slicks started to smoke and the car made a move to the right, Tet off the gas before the eighth.
Horrible shake for Jari after a 0.8906 sixty and shut off. 0.8804 to sixty for Stig, then his tyres started to smoke
but Stig stayed with it until the dragster did a hard right.

News came later that Birgitte had been awarded her licence so she is now in the ladder.

Tyes spun a few feet off the line, Micke pedalled and the Camaro went out of shape, pedalled again, on the gas for a few
seconds moving about the lane and then shut it off. Peter's run had all the appearances of another non-nitrous pass right
down to sounding as if it were misfiring, but he purged the nitrous before running so the gas was in use at least at that point.
1.1181 to sixty, close to the centre line, pedalled and then ran along pretty much a fag paper from the centre line, 5.1168/141.60 
at the eighth. 1.0221 to sixty for Kev and then shake and the car made a move to the right, looked like it was up on three wheels 
briefly. Stormer for Norbert to open his account. 1.0003 to sixty, 3.9907/184.05 to the eighth, very close indeed to the wall 
just past the stripe but pulled it away. 1.0473 to sixty for Andy W, a couple of pedals for shake, to the eighth in 
4.5879/153.10, picked up after the eighth. Good launch for Jean, 1.0049 to sixty but then the exhaust started spitting flame and
Jean was obviously on and off the throttle. To the eighth in 4.1423/164.01 and stayed with it most if th eway to the stripe.
Two drivers tolerating shake in the next pair. 1.0017 to sixty for David and 1.0123 for Roger. Slight shake for both but stayed

8.9048 from Paul Letchford in the first pair, a scant 0.002 off his previous best. Richie Webb oh so close to that seven, 8.0290
which hasn't done his Super Comp standing much good but I am not sure he is laying awake at night worying about that. Also

Pre-burnout from Bob as his rear slick went up in smoke as he chirped the bike forwards towards the bleach box.
New PB for Nick, 1.1376 to sixty and 4.5862/148.15 at the eighth, the bike made a move for the guardrail and Nick was off
the gas for a second or two to straighten it out so more to come there. 1.1144 to sixty for Bob, 4.6210/147.62 at the
eighth, the bike moved towards the centre line in the second half and Bob looked to shut off before the stripe.
Great run for Fil on the Funny Bike! 1.1031 to sixty, 4.2830/171.41 at the eighth, headed for the guardrail but pulled 
it back. Rene left the line with orange flame from one pipe, 1.2139 to sixty and 4.7753/160.78 at the eighth, stayed with
it all the way. 1.0587 to sixty for Steve and 1.1079 for Otto, Steve was going great guns towards the eighth 4.3173/139.72 
but then the bike started to head for the centre line. Meanwhile Otto had got to the eighth in 4.4613/145.31 and his bike too
headed for the centre line, he shut off at about 1000 feet. Ian here on the back of a 6.137 pass in testing on Thursday
and it paid off with the first half of a European speed record, well done Ian! Deep staged too which will have robbed Ian
of some ET. 1.1240 to sixty and 4.0173/198.66 at the eighth. Rikard's run no slouch either, 1.0534 to sixty and 4.3600/163.52
at the eighth.

Fuel Funny Car qualifying session 1 (left lane first)

Kevin blipped the throttle after rolling through the bleach box and that blip was all the burnout he got.
Questioning look from his crew, body up and a crew member went sprinting off, came back empty-handed though. 
Not entirely unexpected after the non-burnout the tyres went up in smoke at the hit. A couple of blips and
then idled through. Nice pair to close the session 0.9393 to sixty for Spuff, 0.9503 for Gordon, both cars
looked to stick to the track, Spuff to the eighth in 3.5468/237.57 to Gordon's 3.7205/209.51 and then shut off.
Spuff on new ET and speed records for 1000 feet, well done Spuff, Bob and the team!

Final licencing pass for Liam, speed requirement of 260 mph at 1000 feet, if achieved then the run will stand as a qualifying 
pass. 0.9071 to sixty, 2.3352 to 330 feet, tyres started to smoke and motor revs went up just before the eighth 3.6163/167.84
and either the blower panel blew or Liam put the chutes out anyway. Tethys in one of the dragsters belonging to Eurodragster.com 
sponsor Urs Erbacher, Urs' tuner Robin Grice calling the shots. Tet's tyres up in smoke passing sixty feet 1.0193. 0.8714 to
sixty for Jari, 2.2583 to 330 feet, off the throttle just before the eighth 3.2813/221.17. Looks like a Lagana or two on 
Anita's team. Consternation and head-shaking amongst the crew before Anita staged but then motioned her forward. What they 
were unhapy about I don't know but 0.8463 to sixty was pretty good - then shake, smoke, and flame on the left side of Anita's
motor. 0.9472 to sixty for Stig with tyres blazing, off the gas pretty quickly. Micke reluctantly carrying the number one
plate after some creative accounting subsequent to Thomas Nataas' disciplinary at the end of last season. 0.9012 to sixty
for Duncan, 2.3619 to 330 feet then his tyres started to smoke about 300 feet out and the dragster made a move to the right,
Duncan off the gas and chutes out at the eighth 3.9521/132.35. Micke's tyres up in smoke at the hit and he shut it off and idled through.

Thomas at the Tree 0.1461 to 0.4741, Thomas with the better sixty 0.9702 to 0.9961 and visibly pulling it back by the eighth
4.2453/165.40 to Michael's 4.3115/164.01. How about Jimmy's start to the European season - the first half of a European ET record!

Great to see Peter back after a long, long break. He told me on Wednesday that he had told tuners Rob Loaring and Nick Davies of
ICE Automotive that if he was to have a nitrous burp then he wanted a real big one after which he would end up sitting in a 
one metre deep crater on the start line. Looked like a no-nitrous pass this one. 1.1702 to sixty, 5.0185/143.48 at the eighth.
Looked like Thomas Stiefel had problems starting, towed back to the pits. Another welcome return, in this case Eurodragster.com 
sponsor Marco who had a good test on Thursday. 1.0643 to sixty for Marco, 1.0331 for Kev. Kev hit shake and oedaled more than 
once as the car moved about its lane. 4.3496/172.20 at the eighth for Marco, 4.5531/145.18 for Kev. Marco shut it off and had the chutes 
out before the stripe. Wayne back after rapid repairs to the damage sustained at Easter. Tyres spun and motor zinged at the hit and Wayne was
off the gas before the Tree. 1.1396 to sixty for Andy, pedal for shake, 4.8547/147.24 at the eighth, stayed with it pretty much to the
stripe. Great run for ick, the usual rapid sixty of 0.9671, 4.0856/174.80 at the eighth, looked to shut it off a touch early but a new
PB, well done Rick! Jean's motor sounded to be misfiring and it was spitting flame at each shift, 1.0623 to sixty and 4.6632/157.93
at the eighth. 1.0535 to sixty for Marcus to Eurodragster.com sponsor Chris' 1.0665, Chris pedalled for shake and then the Duster picked up.
4.1065/177.53 to the eighth for Marcus moving gently towards the guardrail but he had a hold of it. 4.6238/155.20 to the eighth
for Chris. Very gutsy drive for Mats! 1.0101 to sixty to Roger's 1.0047, the Green Goblin started to move left and right towards
the eighth 4.0372/186.25 to Roger's 4.2102/172.21, Mats' car was really swaying in the second half but he stayed with it and into #1 at that
point. Next pair was one of those "Acceptable level of shake" pairs, both Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy and David driving through
shake which propelled their respective mounts towards the centre line. 1.0308 to sixty for Andt, 1.0374 for David, David with the better
eighth 4.2584/176.07 to 4.3170/170.32. 1.0020 to sixty for Bruno, 3.9822/177.69 at the eighth and then shut off. 1.0506 to sixty for 
Tero and 4.2537/178.23 to the eighth - good baseline pass. 0.9981 to sixty for Roger then shake, 1.2810 to sixty for Micke with
shake. Micke got off the gas, stood on it again, more shake, off the gas before the eighth. Roger pedalled a couple of times, 4.2195/151.45 at

No Danny Bellio as his motor unfortunately reduced to rubble in testing on Thursday.
A long trail of fluid from Jürgen's car as he pulled his burnout, track crew rushed to shut him off.
1.1744 to sixty for Steph, 4.2501/185.68 at the eighth, sounded to be feathering the throttle all the way
as the car was moving left and right.

The Dave Wilson Retirement Tour continues into its third successful year. Great pass to start the season. 0.9601 to sixty,
3.5927/218.88 at the eighth and then gently off the throttle in the second half. Looked like a planned shut-off. Dennis 
here on the back of a successful test on Thursday. 0.9090 to sixty for Dennis to Stefan's relatively lazy 1.1329,
Dennis pealled for shake, 3.5941/200.28 at the eighth, 4.2076/189.66 for Stefan whose motor sounded to be labouring. Dennis'
blower relief panel blew with a flash of flame just past the eighth, interestingly no chute deployment when the panel blew.
Great pair to finish the session. Visible holeshot for Timo 0.0178 to 0.1154 and the better sixty 0.9223 to Jonny's 0.9694,
the tops of Timo's tyres were flapping about like crazy and looked like one brief pedal. Jonny with the better eighth 
3.6057/215.87 to Timo's 3.7218/208.55, smoke from Jonny's motor in the second half and you could see his crew willing it 
all to hold together, which it did.

Super Pro ET qualifying session 6

Eurodragster.com brother-in-law Tom Atkinson up from #19 to #6 in the first pair, our Eurodragster.com colleague Kirstie
who I believe chooses Tom's dial-ins had a little dance on the start line. Another nic RT for Paul Przybyl, 0.0072. Great run for
Marck Harteveld, up from #26 to #15, took the long way round as the car headed left about 200 feet out but had a good hold of it.
Frightening tyre shake for Rene Meierhofer, everything up here shook so I can't imagine what it must have been like for Rene.
Next pair and Johan Oomen shut off after his burnout and was pushed back. Clean-up in Johan's lane.

On the restart his second perfect ET of the event for Eurodragster.com sponsor Pete Walters, +0.0002 on dial-in. I don't think 
I have ever seen two perfect ETs by the same racer at the same event before. Well done Pete! Next pair and Billy Gane was pushed
back from the bleach box. Great run for Rod Harrison even with a pedal past the Tree, up from #29 to #27.

Dan Williams up from #12 to #7 first pair, in the other lane Sean Law moved up from #4 to #3. Big move up the ladder for James Forster, 
#23 to #10 and soooo close to the eleven-second pass. Two pairs later Tim Stanbury took over the lead from #17, +0.0012 on dial-in. 
We think a PB for Bob Molden, 9.739, well done Bob! Next pair and John Dalrymple pulled a perfect 0.0004 reaction, well done John! That will
feel good after a few problems yesterday. 0.0043 RT for Keith Herbert next pair, in the other lane a PB of 9.3654 for Rhiannon Bellenie, well
done Rhiannon! 0.0016 RT for Lee Guy next pair. At this point in the session 14 of 26 cars which had run had broken out.

A big Good Morning to Herb Andrews who is tuned in and got in touch about yesterday's coverage. Thanks very much for the
kind words Herb and we will do out best to keep it up. Indeed thanks to everyone who has taken the trouble to get in touch
with kind comments, rest assured that it is appreciated even if we are too busy to reply. Whilst we are thanking people, a
big Thank You to Nev and Libby Mottershead for dinner and hospitality last night.

We are due to start at 09:30 with Q6 of Pro ET and Super Pro ET and then into our first Pro qualifying round at 10:30.
When the Pros are qualifying we will do our best to update the report after each pair - it is not always possible but if 
it can be done it will be done. So keep hitting Refresh!. Stay tuned and as soon as the first set of wheels starts
