Graunching sound from Phil Middleton's transmission, sounded like Ginner saved the motor from zinging, pulled over about 250 feet out, pushed back.

18:25 Liam Jones followed Outlaw Anglia with a full pass licencing attempt in Top Fuel Dragster. 0.9178 to sixty, 2.3622 to 330 feet, 3/4192/230.00 at the eighth by which time the blower relief panel had burst. 4.4977/199.76 at the thousand. 18:20 Outlaw Anglia qualifying session 2 Cliff Griffin up to #1 first pair. Gauntlet laid down to Colin Millar who was going great guns but there was a puff of smoke from Colin's left bank just past the eighth, terminal speed tends to imply an early shut-off. We think a PB for Pete Rollinson, well done Pete! In the other lane Matt Cooper's Pop got a wobble on in the second eighth, off the gas and chute out, nice piece of driving. Fantastic run for Simon Barlow, we think a PB in this car at least, if so then well done Simon!

16:10 VW Pro qualifying session 1 Drama in the final pair as Paul Jordan's wild Scirocco took a hard right just past the finish line on a 9.433/140.75 pass. Some smoke just before the car made its move. The car front-ended the guardrail and spun its way down the shutdown area, safety crews were moving before Paul's car stopped. Paul got himself out of the car and is A-OK.

After a damp overnight we have had sun and cloud since 08:30 and the track was open since mid-morning for very enjoyable Run What You Brung. To all of those Facebook and other mizzogs who prefer being miserable, and trying to make the rest of us miserable, about the possibility of rain to getting excited about the prospect of racing, well, we're real sorry for your loss. Simon will be back with the team at Shakespeare County Raceway next weekend which is great news as we have all missed him and his contributions to our coverage.
