FIA Pro Modified eliminations round 3
David Vegter 6.0937/234.08 def. Bruno Bader 6.1867/225.64
Two of Bruno's crew pushed him towards stage in the manner of Fuel cars. Fantastic race! Bruno away first 0.0770 to David's
0.1571 but then David started to make up the advantage by sixty feet 0.9901 to Bruno's 1.0186. David to the eighth in
3.9844/183.47 to Bruno's 4.0292/181.01 and took the stripe by 0.0129.
Micke Gullqvist 6.1286/222.33 def. Norbert Kuno 6.8205/156.83
Norbert got the jump on Micke 0.0510 to 0.0790. Micke started to get that back at sixty 0.9904 to 1.0004. Shake
for both drivers, Micke drove through it with the Camaro moving left then more seriously right and somewhere in
all the racket I think I heard a pedal just before the eighth 4.0158/183.28. Norbert's tyres continued to shake and the Avenger headed for the guardrail,
shut it off before the eighth 4.1344/169.04.
15:10
FIM Europe Pro Stock Bike Invitational eliminations round 2
Martin Bishop 7.4274/177.14 bye
Odd-number bye for Martin. 1.1324 to sixty, 4.7305/148.07 at the eighth. Straight pass with no dramas.
Gert-Jan Laseur 7.5969/143.91 def. Martin Newbury no time DQ
-0.1478 red light by Eurodragster.com sponsor Martin handed it to Gert-Jan. 1.1122 to sixty for Gert-Jan,
4.6551/146.18 at the eighth. Martin's bike went right and took out the eighth-mile stop reflector, Martin
ended up following Gert-Jan through the traps. I think Gert-Jan may have spotted Martin's bike moving across
the track as he shut it off early.
15:05
FIA Top Methanol Funny Car eliminations round 2
Johan Lindberg 6.0121/209.14 def. Adam Flamholc 7.6109/149.14
Shake and pedalfest. Adam away first 0.0427 to 0.1284, 1.1346 to sixty already shaking to Johan's 1.0359.
Johan hit shake about 80 feet out, a couple of pedals. Meanwhile Adam's FC was headed for the centre line
and he had to pedal to get it straight. 3.9156/192.80 to the eighth for Johan to Adam's pedalling
4.7800/164.22, in the end Adam shut it off as the car went out of shape again. Johan took the stripe by 1.5131.
Leif Andréasson 6.7707/125.84 bye, Rob Turner no show
Rear end damage for Rob so no show. 0.9371 to sixty, very straight and no shake, shut it off right on the eighth
3.7417/174.35.
14:55
FIA Pro Stock eliminations round 2
Thomas Lindström 6.6495/206.12 def. Michael Malmgren 6.7325/206.19
Michael away first 0.1085 to 0.1242 but that was his last advantage. Thomas had the better sixty 0.9703 to 1.0161,
much better 330 foot time 2.7650 to 2.8288, sizeable lead at the eighth 4.2643/164.01 to Michael's 4.3375/164.06.
The stripe Thomas' by 0.0673. Two straight and shake-free runs.
Jimmy Ålund no time bye
Odd-number bye for Jimmy. Motor lost drive at the hit, not what the crew was expecting I think.
14:45
FIA Top Fuel Dragster eliminations round 2
Anita Mäkelä 4.3402/259.29 def. Thomas Nataas 4.9033/150.12
Anita away first 0.1391 to 0.1417, Thomas had the much better sixty 0.8843 to 0.9231. Thomas still with the edge
at 330 feet 2.2594 to 2.3490 but then his tyres went up in smoke. Thomas looked to pedal but from here it looked like
his blower belt broke, either way his run was done. 3.4110/234.98 to the eighth for Anita, some haze from the motor
but stayed with it almost all the way.
Antti Horto 4.2434/248.02 def. Stig Neergaard 4.2300/274.30
Great race decided by a 0.1082 to 0.1307 holeshot in Antti's favour. Almost identical sixty foot times 0.8842 for
Antti to Stig's 0.8844, Antti had the better 330 foot time 2.2752 to 2.3220 and the better eighth 3.3081/232.69
to Stig's 3.3510/245.98. Antti's tyres started to haze just after the eighth and Stig was visibly catching up,
would Antti lose his advantage? The answer was no he wouldn't! Antti there first by 0.0091 or 43.93 inches.
14:20
Martin Hill followed Top Fuel Bike with a 5.9799/258.94 in the Fireforce 3 Jet FC. 4.0924/197.97 at the eighth.

FIA Pro Modified eliminations round 2
David Vegter 6.1018/232.87 bye, Marc Meihuizen shut off
Eurodragster.com sponsor MPM Oil guaranteed representation in the next round as the two MPM-backed cars
faced off. Marc shut off after his burnout for a fluid leak. Superb run for David: 0.9896 to sixty, 2.6392
to 330 feet, 3.9847/184.22 at the eighth. No sign of shake, very straight run and a new Personal Best ET.
Well done David! Clean-up ensued in Marc's lane. Word from Kirstie at the top end was that one of David's
chutes came off the car but that the other did the job.
Bruno Bader 6.1301/227.77 def. Marcus Hilt 6.9419/182.14
Your Reporter received one or two comments from Marcus' tuner Camp Stanley after bantering with Camp that we
had booked his flight home after round one. Marcus away first 0.1452 to 0.2113 but Bruno was on
imperious form from then on. 0.9910 to sixty to Marcus' 1.0403, a flash of flame and smoke from Marcus'
motor just before half track 4.3198/150.89 to Bruno's long-gone 3.9857/183.23. Marcus got back on the
throttle in the second half so I guess the flash of flame was not terminal although there was more
smoke from the motor.
Micke Gullqvist 6.0202/233.77 def. Andy Frost 9.6817/97.77
Micke's tyres didn't light on the burnout... so it was Frosty whose tyres went up
in smoke at the hit, work that one out. 0.9601 to sixty for Micke, stormer of an eighth at 3.9509/186.99.
1.3664 to sixty for Frosty with tyres smoking, a pedal and then gave it up, drove up the track with a grandstand view of Micke's run.
Norbert Kuno 6.2991/225.89 def. Mattias Wulcan 8.0417/110.04
Psychic 0.0062 RT for Norbert to Mattias' 0.3907, Mattias started to make up time by sixty 1.0031 to Norbert's 1.0309.
Mattias reeling Norbert in at 330 feet 2.6495 to 2.6930 but then one tyre smoked a little and Mattias' car turned hard left.
Mattias pedalled and got back on it but there was more smoke and the car was going way out of shape and didn't want to know
so he got off the throttle. 4.1309/174.87 at the eighth for Norbert. Fluid clean-up in Mattias' lane which might give a clue to
the cause of his problem.
12:35
European Funny Car Series eliminations round 1
John Spuffard 5.4550/277.01 def. Jason Phelps no time DQ
Spuff visibly away first 0.2351 to 0.4754 and the better sixty 0.9506 to 0.9758. Jason's car started
to drift left towards the eighth 3.7831/216.48 but Spuff was visibly ahead 3.7039/214.84. The Marshall
FC then crossed the centre line and took out the 1000-foot stop and both quarter mile reflectors,
a pedal from Jason and then off it. Spuff was way ahead by that point so no proximity warnings. Spuff was
a long way down the shutdown area before his chutes opened.
Leif Helander 5.5525/275.25 def. Gordon Smith 8.4720/90.85
Leif's motor faltered on starting but he kept it lit, then his tyres didn't light on the burnout. Didn't hurt Leif's
run though, away first 0.2078 to 0.2553 and the better sixty 0.9974 to 1.0170. Straight run for Leif whilst Gordon's
FC started to move left and right. 2.5999 to 330 feet for Leif to Gordon's 2.6945, Gordon pedalled and it looked like
cylinders out then a bang and flash of flame from the Shockwave FC. Smoke and residual flame from one header. 3.7766/215.95
to the eighth for Leif, superb run. Safety crews chased Gordon down the shutdown area, Gordon's lane swept but no
fluid clean-up.
Henrik Christensen 8.5294/98.12 bye (observed run)
0.9338 to sixty, the FC was heading for the guardrail and got pretty close before Henrik shut it off about 300 feet out.
12:10
FIM Europe Pro Stock Bike Invitational eliminations round 1
Martin Newbury 7.7987/167.32 def. Len Paget 7.8665/155.22
Eurodragster.com sponsor Martin away first 0.0991 to 0.1218. 1.1308 to sixty for Len, 1.1795 for Martin.
Len had the better eighth 4.8680 to 4.9257 but shut it off in the second eighth and Martin took the stripe.
Martin Bishop 7.3951/176.46 def. Mark Smith 11.2100/69.63
Bish away first 0.1004 to 0.1645 and had the nuch better sixty 1.1256 to 1,3951. Mark's motor started to falter
and then groan and he shut it off by 330 feet. 4.6913 to the eighth for Bish and another improvement.
Gert-Jan Laseur 7.3695/171.08 bye
Top qualifier bye for Gert-Jan. 1.1061 to sixty feet, 4.6290.147.99 to the eighth. Clean straight run.
12:05
FIM Europe Supertwin Invitational eliminations round 1
Christian Jäger 7.8071/153.63 def. Al Smith 9.0418/103.98
Christian away first 0.1391 to 0.4925 and the much better sixty 1.0971 to 1.3197. Front wheel came
down almost at the eighth and then the Black Seven's motor faltered. Christian feathered the throttle
and got to the eighth in 4.4916/134.71. 5,2098/117.77 to the eighth for Al, Christian first to the stripe
by 1.5231.
Job Heezen 8.7757/146.27 bye, Ronny Aasen no show
The bang from Ronny's motor on Saturday obviously serious. 1.4507 to sixty for Job, the bike wanted to
go left but Job had a hold of it. 5.7097/147.23 at the eighth and shut off in the second half.
12:00
FIA Top Methanol Dragster qualifying session 5 (left lane first)
Tethys 5.5714/262.07 bye
0.9936 to sixty, looked like the car moved a few inches before Tet hit the gas. 3.7249/212.79 at the eighth,
the dragster moving to the right and looking to get close to the guardrail just at the stripe but Tet had it covered,
a puff of smoke at that point also. Another 5.5 for Tet and another very competent pass for someone who, let's remember,
had not driven the car before last weekend.
Qualifying after this session:
- Tethys 5.5271/260.52
- Paul Ingar Udtian 5.5450/246.38
11:55
FIA Top Methanol Funny Car eliminations round 1
Rob Turner 5.9316/225.56 def. Jürgen Nagel 5.7900/245.54
One of those races which you can hold up as an example of winning with a slower ET as a
huge 0.2216 to 0.3996 holeshot won this for Rob. Jürgen had all the better incrementals:
1.0134 to sixty to Rob's 1.0298, small move to the right for Jürgen's FC but he had it covered,
3.8022/197.96 to the eighth to Rob's 3.8952/195.98. Rob took
the stripe by 0.0364. Huge Personal Best for Jürgen though, well done Jürgen!
Adam Flamholc 5.8029/250.44 def. Gareth Ellis 5.9361/228.16
Adam got a visible jump 0.0616 to 0.1516 and had the better sixty 0.9622 to 1.0088.
Both cars running straight with no shake to speak of. Adam ahead at the eighth 3.8208/195.05
to Gareth's 3.8845/194.47 although Gareth didn't look at all far behind at that point. 0.2232
in it at the stripe. Great runs for both drivers who are nominally rookies in this class.
Johan Lindberg 5.6204/250.99 def. Jonnie Lindberg 6.0751/233.73
Fantastic race between the brothers. Jonnie away first 0.1235 to 0.2134 and had the better sixty
0.9556 to 0.9660. 2.5672 to 330 feet for Jonnie to Johan's 2.4916, Jonnie had hit shake by then and
was frantically pedalling as the car moved left and right. 3.7021/204.24 to the eighth for Johan,
3.9671/178.22 for Jonnie. Jonnie shut it off as the FC made a hard move to the left and Johan got there
first by 0.3648.
Leif Andréasson 5.5661/253.22 bye, Steph Milam no show
Saturday's damage precluded Steph from appearing. Fantastic run! 0.9214 to sixty, 2.4485 to 330 feet,
FC made a small move to the right but Leif had it covered. 3.6545/205.83 at the eighth.
11:45
FIA Pro Stock eliminations round 1
Michael Malmgren 6.7232/200.62 def. Micke Callin 11.5991/43.10 DQ
Storming pair of burnouts. -0.0309 red light by Micke handed it to Michael.
1.0063 to sixty, tiny amount of shake, 4.3173/162.47 at the eighth, chutes out
right on the stripe. Micke put the chutes out before half track.
Thomas Lindström 6.6769/206.04 def. Magnus Pettersson 11.5816/75.15
Magnus' tyres didn't light in the burnout. Thomas with the jump 0.0963 to 0.3006, 0.9789 to
sixty. Magnus shut it off by about 300 feet. 4.2915/163.41 to the eighth for Thomas and then
put the chutes out a little before the stripe.
Jimmy Ålund 6.6102/208.01 def. Mats Jacobsson 7.0050/198.99 DQ
Big -0.3454 red for Mats ended his day. 0.9758 to sixty for Jimmy, 4.2539/166.04 to the eighth.
Straight run with no sign of shake, maybe shut off a touch early.
11:25
FIA Top Fuel Dragster eliminations round 1
Anita Mäkelä 4.2956/269.41 def, Micke Kågered 6.1104/112.09
Not much smoke in Micke's burnout then brief consternation getting his car into reverse.
Anita visibly away first 0.1761 to 0.2423. Micke had the better sixty 0.9110 to 0.9321,
Micke drove through a little shake whilst Anita's tyres were happily blackstriping. Micke
off the throttle about 400 feet out, 3.4017/237.05 to the eighth for Anita, some haze from
the motor past the eighth and off it a little before the stripe.
Antti Horto 7.6940/81.68 bye, Risto Poutiainen no show
A real shocker, the defending Champion not here and thus far no word why, only rumour which we don't do.
Not unexpectedly and not unadvisedly a launch for Antti, 0.8907 to sixty and off the gas at about 100 feet.
Stig Neergaard 4.1508/288.32 def. Jari Halinen 6.3446/97.35
Stig away first 0.1313 to 0.1757 but Jari had the better sixty 0.8761 to 0.8797.
2.4466 to 330 for Jari at which point his tyres blazed and he got off it. 3.3057/247.35 to the eighth
for Stig, on the gas all the way. Masterly performance from Stig.
Thomas Nataas 4.1506/286.78 bye
Number one qualifier bye for Thomas. 4.2955 or quicker for lane choice over Anita in the semis, would
he stay in the gas all the way? Yes! 0.9054 to sixty, 2.3050 to 330, 3.3103/253.06 at the eighth, dragster
made a move to the right after the eighth but Thomas stayed on the throttle and straightened it out; his tyre
marks actually went some way beyond 1000 feet.
10:55
FIM European Super Street Bike Cup eliminations round 1
Drama in the third pair as Graham Dance's bike slid out from under him as he was leaning to keep
it straight. Having come off the bike G did exactly the right thing, didn't try to stop himself sliding
along the track. One relatively gentle impact with the guardrail later G got to his feet as soon as he
stopped sliding and signalled the rapidly-approaching safety crews that he was quite OK, walked to the
ambulance and was taken to the Medical Centre for a precautionary check. If I know Dancey he is already
joking about it.
On the restart, shades of Jens Nybo from Steve Venables as during the rolling part of his burnout he
took one hand off the handlebars and calmly lowered his helmet visor. 1.2440 sixty from Ven on that pass.
Thomas Granica did not appear for his race with Daniel Donat Lencs. Paul Hambidge also an absentee giving
#1 qualifier and record holder Dave Holland a bye.

Mats staged off his burnout tracks. Instant shake and smoke at the hit and Mats shut if off about 100 feet out.
0.9999 to sixty for David, some shake made the car move to the right but he stayed with it. 4.1757/174.26
at the eighth then smoke from the right bank which got thicker and thicker but David stayed on the throttle so
I guess he felt nothing amiss. Track checked and all OK.
Andy Frost 10.0918/105.68 bye, Mats Wicktor no show
Mats broken, we already knew that at least two of the three alternates were broken, so Frosty got the bye. Shake
and smoke at the hit, one pedal and the same happened again so off the throttle and drove down the track relatively
sedately.
Norbert Kuno shut off, Wayne Nicholson broke
Wayne went to about 1000 feet after his burnout and the Vette sat there forlornly, going nowhere. At that distance
it's not clear what was wrong. Norbert signalled to shut it off whilst the Vette was recovered.
Norbert Kuno 14.5199/73.08 bye
Norbert staged and drove gently up the track.
Marcus Hilt 6.7806/179.96 def. Robert Joosten 6.8454/152.64
Looked like it took a couple of attempts to get Marcus' motor started. Robert away first 0.0990 to 0.1276,
the quicker sixty 0.9893 to 1.0302. Marcus pedalled briefly about 200 feet out. Robert still with the
advantage at the eighth 4.1192/178.14 to 4.3307/167.16 but then shut it off in the second half. Marcus'
blower panel burst but he was ahead by then and took it by 0.0362.
Mattias Wulcan 8.1131/186.58 def. Kev Slyfield 8.1687/148.56
Tyres didn't light for either on the burnout and the inevitable happened at the hit, spin for both.
A pedalfest ensued, a couple of goes each, Mattias' car went hard left about 150 feet out and how he lept it off the
centre line I'll never know. Neither was giving up but Mattias got there first by 0.4182.
Bruno Bader 6.5810/220.03 def. Steve Hall 7.0693/188.93
Bruno just away first 0.2902 to 0.2307, the much better sixty 0.9984 to 1.1608.
Shake for both, Bruno drove through it and Steve pedalled a couple of times. 4.3281/169.49 to the eighth
for Bruno, Steve there in 4.5907/158.46. Steve shut it off before thse stripe, Bruno there first by 0.4288.
Micke Gullqvist 6.0195/232.43 def. Graham Ellis no time DQ
Graham's Superbird rolled out of stage before the lights ran, then he hit the throttle anyway. 0.0088 RT for Micke, 0.9617 sixty foot.
Graham's 'Bird headed left and very gently tagged the guardrail a couple of hundred feet out. Micke's tyres shook about 100
feet out but he stayed with it and then the briefest of pedals before the eighth 3.9267/181.95, much straighter in the second eighth.
Marc Meihuizen 6.3072/213.88 def. Jean Dulamon no time DQ
-0.1084 red for Jean handed it to Marc. 0.9972 to sixty for Marc and then a huge bang and ball of flame from Jean's motor and the
hood scoop easily went mayybe fifty feet into the air, way above grandstand and Race Control level. Marc's car moved about its lane
but he hung onto it and got to the eighth in 4.0222/164.20.
Next round is Marc v David, Bruno v Marcus, Micke v Frosty, and Mattias v Norbert.
