17:45 Jet Car Shootout session 2 Martin Hill 4.1034/202.30 def. Gerd Habermann 4.7178/169.14 DQ Extremely lively up here before the race. -0.0347 red for Gerd handed it to Martin. 0.0268 RT for Martin, 1.1393 to sixty and 2.8418 at 330 feet. 1.2322 to sixty for Gerd and 3.2101 to 330 feet. 17:40 MSA Pro Modified qualifying session 5 (left lane first) Rick Garrett no time, Graham Ellis 7.1389/213.79; Jean Dulamon 7.9698/161.89, Wayne Nicholson 6.6929/214.85 Long burnout by Graham and rolled to a halt at about half track. Rick's Willys struggled off the line and he stopped a few feet out. 1.1004 to sixty for Graham, shake marks from about 60 to 100 feet and you could hear the tyres squealing. A pedal, 4.7420/153.67 at the eighth, and again visibly accelerating hard in the second eighth. Graham up into second spot with that run. Fantastic run for Wayne to take first place. 1.0404 to sixty, 2.8493 to 330 feet, 4.3546/164.67 at the eighth. Straightest run I think I have ever seen from Wayne, great stuff and thanks to MSA Championship PR Robin Jackson for letting us know that that was a PB speed for Wayne so well done to him for that. Not too bad a run for Jean either. 1.5796 to sixty but then visibly accelerated a lot harder from about 200 feet. 5,2004/147.60 at the eighth. Qualifying after this session:

On hold for clean-up, stay tuned. 16:30 European Nitro Funny Car Challenge qualifying session 2 (left lane first) John Spuffard did not start, Gordon Smith 9.9829/92.70 bye; Sat here typing away as the cars started but when I turned round to look Spuff's motor was not running and Gordon was pulling forward for his burnout. Bob Jarrett and the crew rushed to reattach the off-board starter but were told to wait by the start line marshal. Gordon took the bye: 0.9817 to sixty, driving through shake, 2.8166 to 330 feet with the FC approaching the centre line. Off the throttle before the eighth 5.0304/95.86. John Spuffard 13.3231/116.13, Jason Phelps 8.2663/98.97 Spuff away first 0.1244 to 0.1681 bit the tyres went up in smoke immediately, 1.7042 to sixty with tyres blazing and the Showtime FC turned hard right and Spuff got off the throttle and idled through. 0.9467 to sixty for Jason, clear shake marks on the track from about thirty to about 100 feet, Jason pedalled and got back on it. 2.7029 to 330 feet but off it soon after. One more stab of the throttle before the eighth 4.3207/135.49. Kevin Kent 11.7890/77.90 bye (licencing) Licencing pass for Kevin in this new car. First time I have seen the car in the flesh and it is very good looking indeed, I would imagine it will photograph well. 1.0780 to sixty feet, slight shake marks on the track. Off the throttle about 100 feet out. Qualifying after this session:
16:15 Super Street Bike qualifying after session 4 Improvement for Ven to consolidate his #1 spot. Big speed too. Thomas Granica up to #3 from #8 in the other lane. Next pair and Graham Dance took over #3 spot from Thomas, back into the sevens with it. #2 spot taken over by Graham Balchin next pair, then Danny Cockerill took it back again in the final pair of the session.

09:55 Super Comp qualifying after session 3 Julie Nataas goes right side and into #2 now that dad Thomas remembered to activate the throttle stop. Next pair and Gerd Habermann moved up from #5 to #1 in his two seat dragster. In the other lane Dave Gadney came in at #5.

09:45 Super Pro ET qualifying after session 3 John Atkinson up from #8 to #4 first pair, in the other lane Wouter van Leersum's Camaro started to move around its lane but Wouter sensibly put the chute out to straighten it up. Next pair and Eurodragster.com sponsor Pete Walters moved up from #10 to #1, +0.0047 on dial-in. Next run and Al Didwell made a huge move up the field, #21 to #2 and somewhere near a PB I'd have thought. Mark Adams shut off on the line, cause not immediately obvious. Same next pair for Vince Gibbs but small fluid leak in this case. Next pair and Martyn Jones didn't get reverse after a huge burnout, drove to the end of the track. Next pair and Scott Hauser moved up from #10 to #2. Top ten separated by 0.094 at that point. John Everitt in at #7 with his first pass of the weekend. Best wishes for a rapid recovery to Karl Harrison who suffered an unfortunate mishap last night.

09:20 Pro ET qualifying after session 3 Excellent start to the day for Ian Brown in the second pair: perfect to four decimal places, #1 qualifier, and winner of the Eurodragster.com / Gold RV Perfect ET Award - which only requires three decimals but Ian went one better. Well done Ian! Two pairs later Keith Herbert pulled a 0.0057 RT, up to #5 on that run also. Big breakout for Bob Molden next pair, 9.795 on a 10.00 dial-in. Next up, Eurodragster.com sponsor Nic Williams up from #7 to #4 alongside Carla Pittau up from #11 to #8. Rick McCann up from #18 to #14 on a single. Simon Innes up from #19 to #6 next pair. Big move for Mike Lacey next pair, up from #12 to #3.

08:25 Good morning and welcome to our coverage of the Festival of Power brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car. The Webster Race Engineering / Nimbus Motorsport webcam is on-line and broadcasting live video and commentary / Nitro FM audio as long as the track is open; thanks to M@ikel and the guys at Doyousee.me for streaming services and to Julian of Nitro FM for offering the use of the satellite uplink. Before we start I must say a big Thank You to Carla Pittau and Rick McCann for their hospitality last night. It became too cold to work in Race Control but as ever I was made very welcome at the Heaven and Hell mobile HQ from where I was able to post yesterday's gallery. Thanks also to everyone who got in touch yesterday with nice words about the coverage. Much appreciated folks. On a similar subject a big Hello to Julie Willcox and everyone at Shakespeare County Raceway who were tuned in to see the fruits of their kind loan of SCR's sled. The results speak for themselves I'd say. The weather is much improved today. Right now there is hardly a cloud in the sky and the temperature has gone up a notch. Not Spring just yet but better than yesterday and a lot better than Thursday and Friday. Yesterday's qualifying was curtailed by the cold and approaching damp, but Race Director Robin Shone tells us that we are going with the published running order today, which means that we are starting at 09:00 with Pro ET Q3. I am guessing that the reason is that Pro ET and some other classes have their first round of eliminations later today. Stay tuned and when the first pair fire up we'll be back with the news.
