Sportsman ET was followed by three checkout passes, first up was Ian Turburville in his immaculate slingshot now sporting an ex-Blue Max blower. 10.8806/120.88 on and off the throttle, car sounded very strong. Next up was Ginner with his Outlaw Anglia van, 10.2590/119.31 with a very gentle pass. Finally for today Paul Jackson put in what we believe was his first pass in the former Getting Ratty Super Gas Camaro. Good burnout and then on the throttle to about sixty feet. That's today's action done, tune back in an hour or so for today's pictures. 20:45 Lucas Oil Junior Dragster qualifying after session 1 Congratulations to Belle Wheeler who won the Eurodragster.com / Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award and took #1 qualifier with a 0.0005 Reaction Time, well done Belle! Aaron Fensome not far behind with a 0.0054 for second place. The Wheeler sisters in #1 and #3.

20:15 JDS Street qualifying after session 1 Tyrespin at the hit for Jeff, shut it off and pulled over to the guardrail just before the finish line. Last pair and Liam Concannon's Mazda was stranded at the far end of the shutdown area, locked transmission we think, safety crew went to the rescue with a jack and dollies.

20:05 Outlaw Anglia qualifying after session 1 Promising burnout cut short by Cliff Griffin, something obviously not right as the motor was coughing on back-up and Cliff shut it off. Jed Guy shut off before staging for spots of rain. Excellent pass for Jed on the re-start. Colin Millar and Mark Bracking ready to stage and shut off for more rain. After the rain came hail and then a lot more rain bu as ever the track crew set to and got it dry.

17:00 VW Pro qualifying after session 1 0.008 RT by Dave Bridge, first to take a tilt at the Eurodragster.com / Bad Habit Racing Perfect Light Award. Next run and Danny Wharton's very pretty Beetle disappeared into a cloud of smoke in the shutdown area and left a trail of fluid pretty much to the end of the track. Richard Merriman's run DQ'd for a bump start (self-starting is mandatory in this class).

15:20 Good afternoon and welcome to our coverage of Big Bang brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car. The Webster Race Engineering / Nimbus Motorsport webcam is on-line and will broadcast live video and commentary / Nitro FM audio so long as the track is open. Thanks to Maikel and the guys at Doyousee.me for the provision of streaming services. It was a frustrating morning at Santa Pod with a few pairs of RWYB before rain started. We have had no less than three hail storms each of which arrived pretty much as the track was dry. As ever the track crew never gave up; the rain and hail are now gone and right now the sun is shining on the track.
