16:10 9.50 Bike eliminations round 2 Leigh got into a tankslapper just before the eighth then parted company with his bike in the eighth-mile speed trap. Leigh slid on his back across the track behind opponent and Eurodragster.com sponsor Fred Furlong and hit the guardrail, likely rung his bell a bit. A marshal was with Leigh as soon as he stopped sliding and the safety crews arrived in moments. Word is that Leigh is conscious and talking and being checked out in the medical centre. We don't often make Editorial comments but those who posted hearsay about Leigh's condition on Facebook before an official announcement was made should hang their heads in utter shame. There is more at stake here than wanting to be the first to post something, which seems to be all that matters to some people. Leigh's family being informed and looked after is one of several reasons not to post gossip willy-nilly. Please have a long think about that and refrain from being so irresponsible next time. We also had a brief stop for rain before re-starting.

10:55 Latest word from race officials is that bike classes will run over the eighth-mile due to the strong wind. Track is being sledded and glued. Not long now. 09:45 We have had spits and spots of rain but right now the sun is out and the racing surface is well on its way to being dry. We have one jet dryer on the track and one on the shutdown area. We do however have a very stiff headwind.
