We are now working on today's pictures and those should be done within the next hour and a half or so. The webcam will be stopped without further warning very shortly. 16:55 Super Street Bike qualifying session 2 Thomas Granica up from #4 to #3 first pair. Wayne Saunders next up the ladder, #6 to #5 two pairs later. Next pair and a great run for Pete Field moved him up from #9 to #2, in the other lane Dave Holland's motor smoked at half track and he shut it off, then a huge cloud of smoke from Pete's motor in the shutdown area. Safety crews attended both bikes, word came back on the radio that it was Pete's turbo which was smoking, but then oil was found in Dutch's lane. Clean-up ensued. Graham Balchin up from #12 to #8 on the restart. Next pair and vapour from Bernard Dorgan's bike in the shutdown area, word from the top end was that there was water all over the bike and rider but the good news for congnoscenti of clean-ups was that the water did not contain anti-freeze. Chris Reed, having had transmission problems in Q1 (although he was delighted at having run fifteen seconds at fifteen miles per hour), is now running Hyena team-mate Martin Walker's 8.50 Bike in SSB. His Q1 time is perforce expunged. Some classic quotes from Bois as you would expect. When asked if he had had trouble finding gears he replied "I found third gear in the oil pan". After telling us that "Everything is still inside the motor, just not in the right place any more" Bois further explained that he decided to continue in competition with a substitute bike because "Starting to drink at one o'clock is too early even for me". Whilst we're on the subject of great quotes, during some earlier downtime the Straightliners timekeeper Martyn called one of his colleagues on the radio: "Helen?". The immediate response, verbatim, was "Is it lunch break?". Whoever Helen is, I like the way she thinks.

We're now going into Straightliners session 3. Stay tuned. 16:00 We are aware that the webcam stops for a few seconds every thirty minutes, pretty much to the second. This appears to be a 'feature' of the satellite link and it is being investigated. Funny Bike qualifying session 2 Bang and a flash of flame on the launch for Dave Peters. The bike stopped dead a couple of feet from the line and the fire marshal was there firing the extinguisher at Dave's motor in about a second and a half, great job.

Nick Milburn followed Comp Bike with an observed run on Rene van den Berg's previous Top Fuel Bike. Nice burnout but then shut off before staging for a fluid leak. Many thanks to photo-journalist Steve Moxley for letting us know that it was Nick on the bike, since the last we heard it was going to be ridden by The Netherlands' Roy Dijkstra. 15:50 Supertwin Gas qualifying session 2 The Starter's handset failed in the last run of the session, the timing crew quickly there to replace it.

13:25 The ambulance has been called to the pits so on-track action has stopped temporarily. 13:05 We're now into a Straightliners session, the next round of Championship qualifying is scheduled for 14:00. Martyn Greathead has kindly given us the results from the first Straightliners session which you can check out via the Event Index, the link has just been added so you may need to click on Refresh when you go back to the index. 13:00 Super Street Bike qualifying session 1 Scott Baldwin on Steve Mead's Lucas Oil-sponsored bike, Scott crews for Steve and Steve thought this would be a nice way to repay him. 7.821 a damn fine start. Next pair and Garry Bowe's bike turned hard left coming out of the burnout, Garry got it stopped just before the guardrail got in the way. Calmly straightened out and staged next pair, but broke off the line. Dave Holland straight back into the 200s off the trailer.

11:20 Call on the track radio is an 11:45 start, track permitting. 11:10 Track drying going well here. The strip is good, right now a jet dryer is being run along the left edge of the shutdown area. Always a good sign, the timing crew have set up the Tree and done the rollout on the start line, and the gold dust is now going down. Not far off now. 09:30 Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway for our coverage of the Extreme Performance Bike Weekend brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car. The Webster Race Engineering/Nimbus Motorsport webcam will be broadcasting video and audio as long as the track is open. Thanks to our good buddies from Doyousee.me for streaming facilities and to Julian of Nitro FM for allowing us access to the radio station's satellite link which means that we can broadcast in higher definition than usual. Unfortunately we will have no pit notes this weekend as Simon is unable to be here. He will be tuning in when he can to help us with Championship updates so Hello Simon and hope you're having a good weekend. A big Good Morning and hugs to Paula Marshall who is tuned in, we're missing you Paula and wish you were here. It's a beautiful day here at Santa Pod, not a cloud in the sky. Together with pretty much the rest of the UK it absolutely pelted down overnight, and believe me it was a scary drive up here at 5:00 this morning as it was still coming down. But the rain stopped at around 06:00 and the sky cleared. The sun is now high enough to help with the track drying and the track crew are of course out there working hard to give us a racing surface. The original plan was for an 09:30 start but obviously that is not going to happen. We will bring you schedule updates as we receive them. Attentive readers will know that this event is a mixture of UK Championships and Straightliners so there will be breaks in the coverage whilst the Straightliners take to the track.
