Tune back in the morning and we'll bring you all the news from day two of qualifying. 18:30 Super Modified qualifying after session 2 Instant spin at the hit for Andy Hone and Tim Mugridge, sparks from the clutch I guess and lots of smoke from the motor between 330 feet and half track. Track checked and found to be OK. Next up and last run of the day was Rob Elsom with the first pass in his Oldsmobile. Nice burnout then up on the revs and the motor stopped a few feet off the line.

18:10 Super Pro ET qualifying after session 3 Great run for Ian Powell to open the session, 0.001 RT and 0.007 over dial-in, into #1 spot and close to taking both Perfect Awards. I think a new PB for Deborah Laugher next pair, 8.6933 and a big break-out. Breakout for Dave Catton also, 7.9310 on an 8.05 dial-in but the crew didn't look too bothered about it - I'm thinking the first seven for the Beovax- and Lucas Oil-sponsored dragster. Dave Nelson in at #4 with his first Super Pro run of the day.

17:35 Lucas Oil Junior Dragster qualifying after session 2 Rhiannon Bellenie up from #7 to #3 in the second pair. All eyes on Petteri Liimatainen in the fifth pair, could he stay right side? And the answer was no he couldn't, 8.1863 on the Junior Modified index of 8.90 so he will be running in exhibition for the rest of this weekend. Two pairs later and Joe Kellett moved up from #21 to #7. Ivana van den Berg straight into #3 spot with her first competitive pass in the Junior FC.

Paul was unconcerned by this morning's run and said that the pick-up now has nitrous to contend with. Pete Creswell in at #1 next pair. Stuart Morrice pushed back next pair, Jon Turner up from #6 to #4. Great first run for Richie Webb and a catapault launch, boy does that VW sixty foot! Guido Uhlir back into #1 spot next pair, our good friend Skorpion tells us that Guido uses the foot-and-brain throttle stop method which makes it doubly impressive.

Mark Todd going great guns in the second pair but a couple of pops from the motor in the second half and he shut it off. Mats Andersson in at #5 in the other lane. Looked like a no-gas pass for Ian Hook, #5 and Richard Billings in at #6 in the other lane. No time for either Brian Payne or Alex McIntosh after Alex bumped out of stage and Brian left.

15:25 Nostalgia Fuel Altered Association Test and Tune Joe Bond 9.8147/85.84 bye 1.0569 to sixty for Joe driving through shake but the Topo was headed for the centre line and eventually crossed it. Joe got off the gas and wrenched the car back into his lane. Top Fuel Dragster licencing pass Duncun Micallef 6.6017/116.10 bye This pass scheduled for a launch, much as we enjoy them a Maltese Sixty Foot probably wouldn't be looked kindly upon. The motor was very reluctant to start, took three attempts in all and even then tried to lean out after it lit. All sorted by Rune though. Nicely-managed burnout by Duncun on his first-ever Top Fuel pass. Would the track take the hit? Yes it would! 0.9460 to sixty, a brief pedal, 2.4191 to 330 feet, 3.5693/191.26 at the eighth, tyres blackstriping at that point, and off the throttle at the 594 foot reflector. So yes, a Maltese sixty foot! 15:15 MSA Pro Modified qualifying session 1 (left lane first): Kev Slyfield 7.9351/202.40 bye; Steve Hall 9.2988/116.09, Andy Frost 7.3660/195.42; Andy Wright shut off, Jean Dulamon 7.6503/198.89 bye; Roger Moore no time, Graham Ellis 6.7274/207.99; Andy Wright 10.6566/135.68 bye MSA Championship PR Robin Jackson tells us that Wayne Nicholson is missing this session due to a gearbox problem, he will be on track tomorrow. Hard right during the burnout for Kev, not dissimilar to his burnout in testing last week. Similar to last week the tyres spun up at the hit, Kev pedalled a couple of times and pedalled again downtrack as the Coupe moved around and was trying to lift the front end. New motor for Steve. Steve was on and off the throttle all the way down the track. Frosty drove through shake for the first 100 feet or so, what looked like a small panel came off the car. A pedal to clear the shake, 148.64 at the eighth. Andy shut off after returning from his burnout, nothing visibly wrong from here. Jean took the bye, the car crept off the line then Jean hit the gas, lots of shake which Jean drove through, the Camaro was making big moves left and right but Jean stayed with it. Eurodragster.com sponsor Graham with the nominal advantage in the next pair having run into the 6.4s in testing last weekend. Roger rolled the beams going up on the revs. Languid-looking launch for Graham 1.2140 to sixty, 4.4755/178.43 at the eighth but into #1 spot. Andy back for another try, tyres spun up at the hit, a couple of pedals and then sounded like partial throttle all the way. Qualifying after this session:
14:45 Super Pro ET qualifying after session 2 Nick Good on a good one to start his weekend but the dragster had its own ideas about where it wanted to go so Nick got off the gas. Rod Harrison in at #4 next pair, in the other lane Ian Powell pulled a 0.008 RT and broke out, 7.936 on a 7.99 dial-in. Not much in the way of revs during the burnout for Jayne Kay's first outing this weekend. Big burnout at the hit, though, Jayne pedalled it a couple of times and got back on the throttle. Next pair and Jon Atkinson moved up from #2 to #1, in the other lane Eurodragster.com sponsor Pete Walters rolled the beams very slightly. Vince Gibbs shut off for a fluid leak next pair, bit of a wayward pass for Roy Wilding in the other lane with a fair bit of pedalling but good for #6 spot on his first run of the weekend. Same story for Deborah Laugher next run but some fine feathering of the throttle and into #2 spot. Dave Evans shut off after the burnout next run. Next pair and Dave Ward in at #6 and Dave Catton up from #10 to #2. Big drifting burnout by Norbert Schneider but then rolled the beams robbing him of ET. Ashley Bell's Cobra was going for the centre line like it or not, Ashley held on to it as long as he could then the car made a wicked move when he corrected. Ashley got off the gas and from here it looked as if he had his hands full keeping it straight. Next pair and two very welcome returns, Pat Talbot - the original Racer Who Happens To Be A Girl - and Martyn Jones in his rebuilt Small Fortune dragster. Great burnouts by both then a huge breakout by Syd, blasting his Personal Best, and that was feathering the throttle. Well done Syd and Crunch! 13:10 JDS Pro qualifying after session 1 A big moment for Stu Williams in the first pair as the Supra moved to the right and then flipped over when Stu corrected. The car slid along the track on its roof and stopped right on the finish line. The safety crews were ready to move as soon as Leon Green cleared the finish line and were there pretty much as Stu's car stopped sliding. Stu got himself out of the inverted car and is A-OK.
