With a long trail of oil to clean up in the shutdown area and curfew at 21:00 Race Director Robin Shone has called a halt for today.

The webcam will be stopping shortly but you can stay with the Nitro FM stream by clicking on the Audio only link on the Event Index page. On the subject of the webcam, Maikel Gloudemans has asked us to say a big Thank You to his Doyousee.me colleague Erwin who is working hard back at the office, allowing Maikel to come to Santa Pod. Another new UK speed record for Dave Beck, 187.42 mph backed up by his earlier record, ET on this pass a consistent 7.1083, well done Dave! Improvement for Len Paget but he stayed in place, improvement for Ray Debben moved him up the ladder.

Martin Hill followed with a fantastic 5.8376/274.70 in the Fireforce 3 Jet FC.

Nostalgia Fuel Altered Association session 5 (left lane first):

Adam Gleadow shut off, Joe Bond 6.5423/208.96 bye; Gary Page shut off, Terri-Anne White 7.5331/166.68 bye;

Adam shut off before staging. Joe took the bye, fantastic run! 0.0985 RT, 1.0343 to sixty feet, the altered moving left and right but Joe stayed with it, 4.2135/168.99 at the eighth and a new PB at the stripe, well done Joe! Gary Page shut off the Chaos altered before it left the collection area. Terri-Anne took the bye, excellent burnout then a moment's trouble getting out of reverse although she earned a big grin from Ollie Burn when the car moved forward again. Nice run, 1.3113 to sixty feet, straight run to the eighth 4.9556/157.40 then started to move left and right, shut off at about 1200 feet and a bounce on at the finish line.

Risto left Shelley for dead at the Tree, 0.1442 to 0.4787, Shelley with the better sixty foot time 0.8726 to 0.8750. Shelley off the throttle just before the eighth 3.7146/147.96, Risto also getting off it around the eighth as the dragster made a move to the right, 3.2844/226.23. Urs visibly away first 0.1667 to 0.3065, the better sixty foot time 0.9067 to 0.9138. Anitya's tyres went up in smoke and she pedalled it and carried on, Urs' tyres started to smoke and he pedalled briefly, 3.4037/229.11 at the eighth to Anita's 3.7439/191.73. Smoke from Anita's motor in the second half and she shut off, the motor was smoking all the way down the shutdown area. Track checked and found to be OK. 0.9961 to sixty for Gordon and 0.8639 for Jari, Jari hit shake about 200 feet out and shut off. 3.7824/206.01 to the eighth for Gordon, the motor made a groaning noise and there was a cloud of yellow nitro fume, Gordon shut off at about 1200 feet.

Wayne's motor lost fire a couple of times before he left the collection area but it stayed lit for the third time of asking. Short burnout but probably all that was needed on a warm track. 1.0393 to sixty feet, the Vette moved to the left and Wayne stayed with na dand pulled it right, 4.7141/139.40 at half track and shut off for a second or more as the car got close to the centre line, back on the throttle from about 1000 feet to the stripe. Eurodragster.com sponsor Graham made another tilt at the Tree in the burnout although he did of course have the lumberjack in the other lane. 1.0045 to sixty for Graham driving through shake, 1.1740 for Roger. 4.1486/155.08 at the eighth for Graham and then shut off, 4.5247/164.23 at the eighth for Roger, Roger got to the stripe first by 0.2569. Two goes at the burnout for Andy. On and off the throttle, 1.1002 to sixty feet, 5.5656/110.69 at the eighth. Our first look at Graham Ellis' Superbird now with a big bulge on the bonnet and twin turbos and in the hands of longtime Eurodragster.com supporter Nick Davies, the car looks just great and it sure sounds different. Pops and bangs in stage and then gently up the track, a trail of fuel in the 'Bird's wake.

Christian not happy with the throttle response of the bike and shut off before staging. A big Happy Birthday to Lydia on the AFB Racing team, one of your team-mates said that you should get the kettle on. Hope you are having a lovely day. Shawn away first 0.1742 to 0.1986, Cannon's incrementals were better from there on in 1.2089 to 1.3675 sixty foot, 4.6440/154.66 at the eighth to 5.3335/139.09, Cannon's bike got close to the centre line after the eighth and he was off the throttle for a long while getting it straight and then gave it another hit. An improvement for Shawn but he stayed in place. 0.1362 to 0.4241 in Steve's favour at the start, 1.1201 to sixty for Steve and 1.8481 for Kev whilst the motor sounded to be misfiring, Kev got off the throttle at about 250 feet. 4.1884/180.53 at the eighth for Steve and consolidating his #1 spot. Clean-up in Kev's lane.

Problems starting Shelley's motor, Risto almost back at the line before Shelley pulled her burnout, Shelley very sportingly pulled the tiniest of burnouts so as not to keep Risto waiting. Huge start line advantage for Risto, 0.1776 to 0.4074 0.8452 to sixty for Risto, 0.9148 for Shelley, both cars going great guns, 3.1727/262.28 to the eighth for Risto and Shelley already off the throttle at the eighth 3.7479/146.92 as the car headed for the centre line. Risto shut off at 1000 feet. Gordon backed up from his burnout at a high rate of knots. Shake for Anita, 1.2766 to sixty feet and a pedal, 0.9354 to sixty for Gordon then 3.5552/232.28 at the eighth, blackstriping all the way and off it at about 1000 feet. Anita was back on the gas but then her tyres went up in smoke and the chutes either shook out or were fired by the safety cut-out. Eurodragster.com sponsor Urs away first 0.1518 to 0.3534, Jari had the better sixty foot time 0.8836 to 0.9068, Jari's tyres went up in smoke about 200 feet out and the dragster made a violent, really violent move to the right. Jari got off the throttle and held onto it. 3.2805/255.66 at the eighth for Urs, the motor starting to go away in the second half - to be honest I was waiting for a sheet of flame but it never came, thankfully!

The track and the air a little cooler today so this could be a classic session, let's see. Improvement for Dave Smith moved him up to #4 first pair, in the other lane Gary Drury left a trail of fluid on the track so we had a quick clean-up. Would Brad O'Connor come and wave to the webcam during the downtime? The answer was not this time. Bois wearing the tutu again, how lucky would it be today - not very is the answer, spin off the line. Improvement for Graham Balchin, up to #5. Ven blasted out a great run to take over #1 spot, 1.2957 sixty foot time presaged Ven's 7.3635. Mark Watkins up from #17 to #12 next pair. Another PB for Graham Dance a couple of pairs later, well done G! Eurodragster.com sponsor Jamie Sneddon made his first run of the weekend at the end of the session, 7.807 off the trailer, nice one Jamie! Jon Morton up from #6 to #2 first pair, the car dropped a body panel or something right on the finish line. Noah Stutz in the other lane put in a very good 9.250 for his first competitive run. Steve Wells' Pop pick-up now bearing the legend "The Dambusters" after yesterday's bouncy run. In the other lane Brian Pateman laid down a Perfect ET with four eggs for Easter, 8.9000, into number one spot of course, well done Brian! Next pair and Pete Creswell laid down another excellent RT, 0.0041 this time.

Super Pro ET qualifying after session 7

Great run for John Bradshaw for his first Super Pro run of the weekend, into the sixes again and in at #12. No chute from 203.27 mph, gulp. John Atkinson up from #7 to #5 next pair. Next pair and Nigel Turner moved up from #8 to #2. Fantastic run for Leon Green's Supra, 7.3181/184.28, breakout but blasting his PB, well done Leon! The safety crews sped down the shutdown area after this pair, it transpired that Leon's car ended up in the field taking the turn. Leon quite OK. 0.0095 RT and a big PB for Rod Harrison, 7.1318 on a 7.26 dial-in, well done Rod! Roy Wilding into #1 spot with a Perfect ET, 8.030 on an 8.03 dial-in, well done Roy S&K Racing! Fantastic run for Paula Atkin next pair, 0.9910 sixty foot promised the six and Paula and the Mustang delivered, a breakout 6.9791/196.23 but when you run a six who cares about breaking out! Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod for our coverage of the Autotrader Easter Thunderball brought to you in association with Alamo Rent-A-Car.

The Webster Race Engineering/Nimbus Motorsport webcam is on-line and broadcasting live video and commentary/Nitro FM audio. If you didn't read it yesterday then please check out the note below about the webcam.

It's another nice day here at Santa Pod, hazy cloudless sky. It's not meant to be quite so hot today, it was 27 C outside and no less than 47 C where your reporter sits. It beats dieting for weight loss. Right now it's 13.8 C outside, 29.71 inches' air pressure. Humidity is listed as 80% but that's the sensor still damp from its overnight stay outside.

Although we stopped half way through qualifying cycle 6 last night we are going with the published running order this morning. The plan is two complete cycles of qualifying, then those classes which missed out last night get their extra session whilst Pro ET, Super Pro ET, Junior Dragster and 8.50 Bike contest their first round of eliminations. Today's Pro sessions are due at 11:00 and 16:00.

An update on the webcam service

Maikel of our stream server provider Doyousee.me will be upgrading the stream server in time for the FIA Main Event. For the rest of this weekend we will be using the UStream back-up service, however Maikel has shown us how to broadcast to Ustream with the same quality of picture and sound as we were getting from the Doyousee.me server. Your reporter did not know that this was even possible so we are doubly lucky that Maikel is around this weekend!

The downside to Ustream is that it places the occasional advertisement but the simple choice for the rest of this weekend is Ustream or no stream so we're sure that our viewers will put up with it for a couple of days and then we'll be advert-free in future.
