In terms of racers testing for next weekend, the RWYB was quiet although the VW Action part of the show was very busy with a lot of drivers taking the chance to take to the track.

Reigning UEM Top Fuel Bike Champion Ian King took Low ET and High Speed of the day. After opening his account on the Imperial Wizard with an early shut-off 9.667/90.50 in which Ian said that the rear tyre started to turn, he came back and blasted a 6.699/214.89 in the early evening. That run included a feather of the throttle and the rear tyre was hazing some in the middle of the track so there is a lot more to come from the bike. Ian said that the team are having to do it the old way since there is no datalogger on the bike.

Shaun Branch made his first outing in some time on his Funny Bike. The bike crossed lanes soon after launching on the first pass and Shaun shut off before the eighth on his next run of 11.250/80.97.

A new face in a new car was Super Comp racer Paul Letchford in Kev Cerusale's immaculate roadster which was carrying Super Comp numbers. Paul looked very comfortable in the car and clocked 9.613/135.30 and 9.220/142.54 on his passes. Paul is entered in the roadster for the VP Racing Fuels National Finals.

Pro ET racer Deborah Laugher opened her day with a 10.825/128.35 and then pretty consistent runs of 10.655/128.31 and 10.665/127.99. Deborah's last run of the day of 10.897/124.80 had her husband shaking his head in bewilderment. Also for Pro ET, Nic Williams clocked 9.827/133.35 in his gorgeous Coupe followed by 9.776/134.09 and 9.809/134.47

Craig McManus of Surrey Muscle is not racing next week but definitely merits a mention for a superb 8.770/153.22 from his Nova. As ever the big stealth-black car pulled impressive wheelies and clocked a couple of eight-second passes. Also putting down great numbers was Andy Murton who runs his Nevermind Racing Camaro in the Powertour; Andy clocked a best of 9.289/147.66.

A very welcome return was that of former ACU UK Super Street Bike Champion Tony Clark on a bike carrying Outlaw decals. Tony clocked a couple of easy nines and looked very comfortable on the bike. Also on two wheels was a Supertwin Fuel bike which has absolutely no identifying marks and whose rider's name we didn't catch (sorry). The bike went quicker and quicker all day, though, putting in runs of 9.783/142.60, 9.614/142.15 and 9.430/140.79 to his crew's delight. Super Street Bike racer Chris Reed had a wretched day, a quickest run of 8.987 and none of the rest of his several runs quicker than a high eleven if he made the finish line; Bois was quoted as saying that he was totally mystified about the problem and that he was going to keep running until it blew up and he could find out what the problem had been.
