Fuel Funny Car racer John Spuffard's engine kicked a rod out at the top end on yesterday's run and it went through the pan and created quite a dent. He said "We will put our spare short block in with all the wiring and ancilliaries and repair the heads. It's going to be a long night. The computer said everything was good on the run so I think there was a mechanical failure."

Pro Stock racer Sampsa Palos suffered minor front end damage yesterday when the chutes failed to deploy and Sampsa's team spent the evening clearing up the front end to restore it to near-perfect dimensions.

Pro Mod racer and Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy Robinson was the winner in the first race in round one when Urban Johansson red-lit. He said "It was better but still shook," on his 6.27 pass.

Pro Mod racer Micke Lindahl was victor in round one with a 6.20 against a tyre-shaking Norbert Kuno.

Pro Mod racer Roger Johansson was the victor with a 6.26 against Marc Meihuizen who shook the tyres. Roger said "The clutch slipped, otherwise the car is mechanically good, no shake of course. One good thing is it's not so windy so it's easier packing the chutes."

Pro Mod racer Bruno Bader ran a PB ET of 6.116 to defeat Freddy Fagerström. He said "It's a good end to a bad season. We had started trying too hard but now we are creeping up on the performance. It's tough not having many runs to tune the car."

Pro Mod racer Freddy Fagerström said "Yesterday I messed up in the last run and started in second from the line. Today it shook bad." Later in the afternoon Freddy ran a 6.15 out of competition to round out another year of spectacular burnouts and wild runs.

Pro Mod racer Micke Gullqvist ran a 6.08 in the first round when Eurodragster.com sponsor Marco Maurischat lost drive off the start line. "I thought that was my best performance, although it can fool you some of the time", he said.

Pro Mod racer Mats Eriksson was disappointed when the tyre shake gremlins recurred and slowed the Green Goblin to a 6.23 against Johan Lindberg. "We have been struggling with shake this whole event and this has probably cost me third place in the championship."

Pro Mod racer Adam Flamholc was delighted with a 5.96, first five this event and first half of a new European ET record.

Pro Mod racer Adam Flamhoc's team pulled a wheelie in their tow vehicle to celebrate the five second pass.

Pro Mod racer Melanie Troxel said "The car ran well and I just had to drive through a little shake" after running a 6.12 against a red-lighting Robert Joosten .

Pro Stock Bike racers Gert-Jan Laseur and Martin Bishop had a close race in round one with the Dutchman coming out on top, 7.47 to 7.56 with 0.07s in it at the end. Gert-Jan said "I had a lot of wheelspin," whilst Martin admitted the team were struggling with performance.

Pro Stock Bike racer Karl Lyrén was delighted to run his best of the event, a 7.28 to defeat Hungary's Laszlo Papp. He said "I am enjoying riding here and the repairs on the gearbox and clutch have worked well." Don't forget to watch out for Kalle's blog updates during the closed season.

Pro Stock Bike racers Dave Beck and Laszlo Papp were in different pairings but gathered at the far end. Dave had just defeated Gabriella Nikolovska with 7.36 to 7.75. Dave said "The bike was sliding around in fourth and fifth gears and it was not a smooth run."

Pro Stock Bike racer Gabriella Nikolovska said her run was an exciting one and she is enjoying Pro Stock bike racing.

Pro Stock Bike racer Anders Abrahamsson ran a 7.24 after Richard Gipp went before the lights ran. He said "The bike is running well. I short shifted between 3, 4 and 5 and hope there is more to come. We will try for a teen against Ulf in the second round."

Congratulations to Pro Stock Bike racer Ulf Ögge who tied up the championship simply by signing on on Friday. He said "I am happy and confident for eliminations. We now want to go on and win the event and want to go 7.0."

Pro Stock Bike racer Len Paget said "I red-lit against Ulf as I had to try to squeeze the lights, he is so fast. Our problem all weekend is the engine losing a cylinder and running on three and we've been chasing that issue. The bike stopped on the launch because the track was just so sticky with the engine issue."

Pro Stock Bike racer Karl-Heinz Weikum said of his race against Stavros "I had wheelspin from too much clutch and was behind all the way." He qualified 14th with a 7.76.

Pro Stock Bike racer Stavros Svrachnos was delighted with a PB of 7.24 to defeat Karl-Heinz. "The bike is now running great and it is the quickest in the Veidec team now. I think this will be a good day."

Pro Stock Bike racer Fredrik Fredlund had a 7.40 bye run when Harri Piensalmi was a no-show. "I will go for it against Stavros in the next round even though he has a performance advantage" said the former champion.

Top Fuel dragster racer Janne Ahonen said after a 5.03 defeat of a tractionless Stig Neergaard. He said "I am really happy with our consistency but we will need to go quicker to win the event." Janne's car goes back several years to when Andy Carter drove it to the 2001 championship.

Top Fuel dragster racer Urs Erbacher defeated Jari Halinen in the closest race of round one, 4.85 to 4.98. Urs said "There was a lot of smoke from 1200ft but the engine is in one piece with no leaks. My championship is still alive."

Top Fuel dragster racer Jari Halinen's tyre is one example of what US racers have been finding for a few years now, the car performance being more than available tyre technology can handle.

In an important race for the championship, Finnish Top Fuel dragster racers Risto Poutiainen and Anita Mäkelä raced with Risto going up in smoke to hand the championship to Urs and Anita shutting it off before the finish line. She said "The car left hard but was restless. My guys need to calm it down a bit as it was skating around. Meeting Urs in the next round and him running 4.85, I decided to shut it off."

Top Fuel dragster racer Andy Carter's Lucas Oil/Landmeco car was the star of qualifying with a 4.61 and 4.57 for a new European ET record, but the journey came to an end against the reflector blocks in round one against Micke Kågered, who had been having car problems all event. Andy's 4.96/236 was DQ'd and the blocks also ripped the Gurney flap off the front wing.

Top Fuel dragster racer Andy Carter was pretty distraught realising what had happened. "I didn't drive well on that one. You want to go quick but I lost my head and didn't pedal after it started moving to the left. But it is the end of the season and I knew the championship wasn't mine."

Pro Stock racer Tommy Leindahl had been delighted to run near his PB in qualifying with a 6.83. But slipping to 6.86 in round one was enough for Sampsa Palos to take the win with a margin of 0.07. Yesterday he said "We will change gear ratios and make other changes for the air." Tommy has been instrumental in attracting new teams to the class, not only Conrad Stanley but also in prospect a team from the Swedish Comp Eliminator ranks with Thomas Lindström and Roffe Sulyok (Team R/T).

Pro Stock racer Sampsa Palos, whose Rick Jones-built car has an engine built by legendary Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins' shop, not only left on Tommy but recorded a better ET of 6.84. He said "We changed the clutch and launch rpm and it worked. I was also glad the chute worked this time."

Pro Stock racer Jan Palmqvist's crash helmet has racer tape to narrow the field of view so that there are no distractions for Jan. He was able to pull out a holeshot win against Micke Callin in a race with a 0.03 win margin, 6.82 to 6.81.

Pro Stock racer Jan Palmqvist is championship runner up as there was only one point between Micke Callin in second and him in third.

Pro Stock racer Micke Callin was despondent on losing his second place to his championship rival. He said "I have only had one bad light this year and it has to come now."

Pro Stock racer Michael Malmgren became champion by virtue of his no.2 qualifying position. In the first round he ran a new PB of 6.736 to defeat Jonas Dantanus. "I'm really pleased, we are running so consistently and winning is the icing on the cake."

Pro Stock racer Jonas Dantanus qualified 7th with a 6.87 but an improvement to 6.84 was not enough against Michael Malmgren who also left earlier. There was only 0.18 in it at the finish but it was the biggest win margin of the completed races in round one.

Pro Stock racer Jimmy Ålund won the event with a bye of 6.7 in the first round, a 6.69 win against Sampsa Palos in round two and defeating the 2010 champion Michael Malmgren in the final.

Top Methanol Funny Car racer Jürgen Nagel kept on course with a holeshot victory over Steph Milam. "It was a close race and I had bad tyre shake" he said. Advice has been forthcoming from former champion Leif Andreasson this year and Jürgen hopes to run even quicker next year. But it was Dan Larsen who, after an overnight thrash, became this year's champion.

Top Methanol Funny Car racer Steph Milam was delighted with a 6.003 in round one even though Jügen had the win light. Husband and crew chief Dave said "We may not have won the race but we are winning the war."

Top Methanol Dragster racer Dave Wilson was delighted to improve to 5.40/261 from a best of 5.48 in qualifying. He said "I felt the motor going away at the end." There had been indeed a flash of flame and the damage proved too much for the team to repair in time for round two.

Top Methanol Dragster racer and Eurodragster.com sponsor Derek Flynn became event winner in somewhat bizarre circumstances when the other semi final between Fred Hanssen and Dave Wilson did not take place due to breakage. Derek put his own tune-up in the car and the result was a 5.32/270 in round one and 5.35/268 in the final for a new European speed record.

Top Methanol Dragster racers Timo and Dennis Habermann met in round one where Timo uncharacteristically pulled a poor reaction time allowing Dennis to go through. In the semi final, Dennis's burst plate blew on the burnout while previous second place contender Fred Hanssen failed to start.

Supertwin racers Lorenz Stauble and Jan Sturla Hegre didn't know which had won their race as there was only 0.14s in it. Jan Sturla ran the bike's and his own PB of 6.61 and Lorenz a 6.47.

Supertwin racer Lorenz Stauble reacts with joy when he hears from his team of his PB of 6.47 and his round win. The team had a massive overnight thrash to replace his crankshaft. After a previous offer from Hans Olav Olstad was unable to come to fruition when the parts were unable to make it to the flight, eventually Ismo Maenpaa provided a replacement. Ismo reportedly handed Lo his engine and said "Please use what you want".

Supertwin racers Trond H�iberget and Samu Kemppainen after their race. There was only 0.0019 in it at the end and neither knew who won. Trond went through and suffered an engine kaboom in the semi final against Lorenz Stauble.

Supertwin racer Samu Kemppainen ran his best of the event of 7.09 in round one having qualified fifth with 7.13.

Supertwin racers Hans Olav Olstad and Job Heezen embrace after Hans Olav brought Job's championship hopes to an end by defeating him in round one. Hans Olav was in turn defeated by Martijn de Haas in the semi final which handed the championship to Lorenz Stauble.

Top Fuel Bike racer Peter Svensson ran as quick as 6.06 without tyre shake but with the characteristic fishtailing on his historic passes last year to win the event.

Top Fuel Bike racer Steve Woollatt said "We were running rich in the second half of the track as the fuel timer for the leanout didn't come in as it should." Steve ran a 6.44 in round one and

Top Fuel Bike racer Rene van den Berg eventually found a gearbox after a trip to Martin Newbury's and the loan of parts by Dutch Top Fuel racer Joey Bon. The bike got down the track in 6.89 but was defeated by Steve Woollatt's quicker pass. "This is my last season with this bike and I am looking forward to a new one next year."

Supertwin racer Martijn de Haas dedicated his event to the late John van Geytenbeek who died on 22nd August at an accident at the Dutch Finals. He said "We called him the Canadian and carrying the flag is our tribute to John." Martijn's tribute carried through to the event final which he won.

Top Fuel Bike racer Sverre Dahl said after a 6.57 single "I found more throttle at the finish line and we were using insufficient down the track." Clearly there is much more to come from Sverre's new machine - he couldn't make the call for round two.

Top Fuel Bike racers Petri Paljakka and Kai Selkamäa after their first round race. The championship contenders were aware at this point that Petri could take the championship win by winning the next round. Petri, after winning with a PB of 6.44, said "We are the best team in Europe with King racing helping."

Top Fuel Bike racer Kai Selkamäa was pleased with improved performance this year. A problem at 60ft spelt defeat against Petri which proved decisive for the championship.

UEM Funny Bike Cup racer Steve French found a broken 5th gear on the teardown last night but couldn't get replacement parts. "We got round the problem by burning out in fourth and raising the rev limiter so that we didn't need to use fifth." This earned Steve a 7.14 round win against Robert Karlsson.

UEM Funny Bike Cup racer Otto Knebl had left his new bike at home after a recent races at Kunmandaras and at his home track in the Czech Republic left the new machine in need of replacement pistons and rods. A potential three month wait for parts from the US meant that the old bike came and Otto made the best of the situation, going a round and running 8.0 as well.

UEM Funny Bike Cup racer Kev Charman had no second gear after the bike jumped out of it in the burnout in round one, slowing him to 8.46 against Christian Jager's 7.36.

UEM Funny Bike Cup racer Christian Jager is 2010 champion. He said "This is unbelievable, my first European championship after ten years' racing. It has been a lot of hard work by the team. We have serviced the bike every weekend and replaced parts before they failed to be consistent. There has been a lot of travel and long days and nights.

Pro Mod racer Johan Lindberg said after a 6.09 in round one "I'm more confident in the car's performance now. There's no shake and it is running better." After a 6.02 defeat of Roger Johansson in round two this round saw Johan become FIA champion when Micke Gullqvist went up in smoke.

Pro Mod racer Melanie Troxel ran her second best ET of the weekend in round 2 of 6.05 against a shut-off and smoky Andy Robinson. She said "That was about 95% of a full run, it went all the way down but I eased off a little in high gear." That was the end of Melanie's race as she was shut off for a fluid leak after the burnout for the semi-final.

Pro Mod racers Adam Flamholc defeated Micke Lindahl 5.98 to 6.19 in round two, and in what must have been his best day in racing to date, won the event with a 6.07 against Bruno Bader and came away with the FIA ET record.

Pro Stock Bike racer Gert-Jan Laseur was ecstatic with major improvement in performance to 7.25/181 in round two.

Pro Stock Bike racer Karl Lyren defeated Dave Beck in one of the closest races of the day. The margin of victory was 0.0046 and ETs almost identical, 7.25 to 7.26.

Pro Stock Bike racer Dave Beck improved his performance levels to that he achieved at the previous event at SCR and left marginally on Kalle but the Veidec Racing entry overcame the narrow lead.

Pro Stock Bike racer ulf Ögge won the event with a 7.17 defeat of Karl Lyren's 7.24 in the final as Buell once again proved dominant over Suzuki in the championship and at this event. Win margin was 0.04s. Earlier he had defeated Kalle's team-mate Stavros Svrachnos with a 7.15 and Anders Abrahamsson with a 7.14.

Pro Stock Bike racer Anders Abrahamsson is qualified second with a 7.28. He said yesterday evening "We have had a new setup for each session and thought the last one was going to be perfect but there was no fuel delivery in fourth. We are running 7.2s and 7.3s because the air is not as good for us as last year. The speeds are 10-12 mph slower as well. So no-one is going for records and we are all running safe.

Pro Stock Bike racer Lazslo Papp is at his first race here with his US-built Buell and is qualified 12th with a 7.72. Lazslo also rides a Kawasaki Funny Bike locally and this is his first time on the European circuit.

Pro Stock Bike racer Gert-Jan Laseur is qualified 8th with a 7.45. "I will try my best against Martin Bishop in round one. I burnt my leg in the burnout which distracted me and then hit the rev limiter big-time. I have got to change the valve springs and hope to be ready. We will also check the gearbox for shift trouble. The track is great but I have been all over the place. But this is my first full season so I am getting used to the class."

Supertwin racer Per Bengtsson ran a 6.62 in yesterday's first session. He said "We were pleased with that but were expecting much from the last run. But we lost a sprag in first gear which was disappointing as we wanted to go 6.4. We have new ignition and the track is incredible. I guess we didn't manage the power on the bike as we should. We have learned lots this year though."

An award for sportsmanship should be on its way to Supertwin Hans Olav Olstad, who is just six points behind leader Lorenz Stauble in the tight championship. "I am helping Lo who has cracked his crank. My engineer Cato Waale is flying a spare crank and case over from Oslo to Stansted leaving at 9pm UK time and then helping fit it overnight. In the first round I will do my best against Job who is four points ahead of me. He had trouble in qualifying at Alastaro and then went on to win. I will use the same setup even though I have only gone 7.13."

US racer Jeff Carroll is here assisting Rob Turner's team. He said "I was really pleased with Rob's 6.04 as he is driving the car really well for his first year. The run could have been a 5.7 or 5.8 as the shift from first to 2nd was 1200rpm too low. But he went 1-2-3 on the buttons without lifting and deployed the chute perfectly. The short shift wore the clutch by 90 thousandths whereas it is usually 20." Jeff will be at the Bakersfield reunion where customers of Titan Motorsports will be supplied with parts.

Top Methanol Funny Car owner Dave Milam was happy after consistent runs of 6.3, 6.3 and 6.4. "After damage at the Main Event we got a new block and crank. We had tried something different and have gone back to what we know works from Easter where the car ran 6.09. The car is responding to every change we make and we are now getting more aggressive on the startline with the clutch. On one run it shook the chute out down track. Steph is relaxed driving the car and we will tune it up against Jürgen."

Top Methanol Funny Car Dan Larsen suffered major engine damage when a rod broke causing a large explosion approaching the finish line. The team worked to 2:30am with repairs, putting in a new short block and repairing the heads. "We now just want the championship, we have given up running fast."
