18:50 Super Street Bike qualifying session 3 Steve Mead into the sixteen-bike ladder from the outside in the first pair of the session, fourteenth initially but quickly pushed down to sixteenth...would he make it? Nigel Barker up from #11 to #10 but a bug puff of smoke right on the finish line. Great run for Wayne Saunders, 1.271 sixty foot time gave it away that it would be a good run, into #2 spot at that point. Garry Bowe up from #12 to #8 a couple of pairs later. Chris redd on a last chance to get into the field...and made it, pushing Steve Mead out.

18:00 Martin Hill followed the NFAA with a storming 5.8500/274.85 in the Fireforce Jet FC. Nice one Martin! 17:50 Nostalgia Fuel Altered Association session 4 (left lane first): Bob Glassup shut off, Joe Bond 18.8135/50.26 bye; Jon Best no time, Paul Wratten DQ; Tony Betts 14.9697/49.22 bye; Bob again couldn't get reverse after the burnout and the crew couldn't push the altered back so it was sidelined. Joe took the bye, 0.0090 RT but instant shake. A couple of pedals and then off the throttle. The Wrattens' altered is carrying the legend "Wratten, Draper and Lotsapower" on the front of the bodywork. Huge burnout for Paul, Jon almost went back into the water box reversing up but just about stopped in time. Jon's motor cut out at the hit and the altered moved about one foot. Paul blackstriped his lane then drove through shake, the altered weaving left and right and then taking out the 1000 foot and finish line reflectors. Tony Betts' first run in the rebuilt Venom altered. 1.0034 sixty foot time, nice opener. Word from the top end was that Tony nosed the altered into the gate at the top end. Word from the Chaos team is that Gary Page has been to Bedford Hospital for X-Rays, nothing untoward found but he is being kept in hospital for a couple of hours for observation. Trackside conditions are 10.0 C, 44% humidity and 29.62 inches of air, track temperature 12.0 C. 17:30 Pro Fuel Shootout qualifying session 3 (left lane first): Risto Poutiainen 5.4551/218.97 bye; Jari Halinen 8.1152/87.87 bye; Janne Ahonen 7.6257/101.03, Gordon Smith 7.1141/145.81 0.8755 to sixty feet for Risto, driving through shake, clylinders mixing, 3.4600/211.51 at the eighth, some smoke in the second half and the candles went out at about 1000 feet. A big cloud of smoke in the shutdown area, the tractor summoned to clean bits off the track and the clean-up crew sent with mops which suggests a small pool of fluid at the top end. The clean-up crew came back without getting to the top end and off we went with Jari. 0.8872 to sixty feet and then shake marks from about 150 feet and off the throttle at about 300 feet. 0.2307 RT for Gordon and 0.1125 for Janne having waited the extra 0.35 seconds,. 0.9017 to sixty for Janne, 0.9960 for Gordon, Gordon hit shake at about 200 feet, looked as if he pedalled and then the car behaved as if the blower belt had broken at half track. Shake at the same location for Janne and he was off the throttle at half track. Qualifying after this session:
17:05 MSA Pro Modified qualifying session 4 (left lane first): Henri Joosten 17.7182/42.97 bye; Bert Englefield no time DQ, Ray White 10.2809/90.12; Andy Robinson 6.2614/231.57, Graham Ellis 7.0403/208.99 1.0349 to sixty feet for Henri but wheels-up and shaking and he was off the throttle at the Tree. Huge shake for Bert and his Coupe turned hard right and crossed the centre line. Bert pulled the car back into his lane and idled up the track. Ray also had shake but pedalled and got back on it for a short way before getting off the throttle. 0.0087 RT for Eurodragster.com sponsor Andy, 1.0208 to sixty feet, driving through shake but staying with it, 4.1040/184.97 at half track. 0.0994 RT for Eurodragster.com sponsor Graham, 1.2300 to sixty feet which betrays shake, off and back on the throttle, 4.8103/171.73 at half track and very close to the centre line.

Dennis taking a long way round but still clocking 3.5681/208.96 to the eighth, 4.0753/192.67 for Steph. Dennis into #1 and Steph runs her second quickest ever ET, well done guys! What a run between Timo and Esko, and new personal bests for Esko. 0.9092 to sixty for Timo, driving through shake, 1.0177 for Esko also driving through shake only a little further out, 3.7133/204.22 to half track for Timo to Esko's 3.7484 at a huge 214.43.

16:50 Simon has posted his latest set of pit notes, which you can view via the Event Index page. Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 4 (left lane first): Steve Woollatt 22.1351/45.07, Rene van den Berg 8.4214/128.05 Steve's rear slick went up in smoke at the hit, he had one more go at it then shut off. 1.1969 to sixty feet for Rene, but the bike started to head left and Rene had to feather the throttle. He got very close to the 1000-foot reflectors to more cries from timekeeper Sharon but he kept out of trouble again and clocked his quickest ET of the weekend so far.

16:30 Topspeed Automotive Street Eliminator qualifying session 3 Another scary ride for Ian Hook, the car up on two wheels then again when he had pulled it straight. Big improvement for Andy Hadfield, #11 to #7. Better still for Steve Pateman, into the sevens to consolidate his #1 spot, that was a great-looking run and preceded by a 0.0620 RT. 0.0338 RT for Colin Lazenby and an improvement good for #2 spot. That lasted one pairing as Jeff Meads improved big time to take over second. Drama for Richard Billings' third observed run as the tyres spun and then the car turned hard right and went through 180 degrees before hitting the guardrail. Richard is quite OK, the car doesn't look too badly damaged.

16:20 Super Pro ET qualifying session 3 Dave Catton into #1 in the second pair of the session. John Atkinson up from #10 to #7 next pair. Next pairing and Ashley Bell moved from #15 to #5. It's all go in this session, Barry Giles up from #3 to #1 next pair. Rick Garrett next to make a move, #14 to #9. Jack Brewster up from #12 to #7 towards the end of the session after making a quick turn-round, he and Chris Isaacs lost their first pass of this session after the timing system locked up. Big breakout for Rod Harrison but we think maybe a personal best, 7.3528.

Next up was Eric Teboul on his Rocket Bike, what an astounding pass. 5.4098/239.91, get the half track speed of 220.07 in 3.5879 seconds, nice one Eric! Trackside conditions are 12.0 C, 44% humidity and 29.59 inches of ait, track temperature is 18.3 C. 15:35 Super Gas qualifying session 3 Jon Giles up into #3 spot from #7 in the second pair of the session. Pete Creswell into #1 spot in the last but second pair of the session. Conrad Stanley up from #11 to #2 in the last but one pair.

Big break-out for Carla Pittau but I'm pretty sure that her 9.707 is the car's quickest-ever run or very close to it, well done Carla! Amanda Cox gets a big thumbs-up from Chief Starter Ian Marshall for her final observed run so that pass is in. Keith Herbert up from #12 to #8 in the last but second pair of the session. Deborah Laugher into the show after a torrid time so far.

Well done Joe! Drama in the next pair as Gary Page was a passenger as the altered turned hard left at sixty feet and hit the guardrail front three quarter on, taking an advertising board with it as the seriously bent car carried on down the track. 1.0799 to sixty feet for Paul, 4.4830/160.77 at half track. The safety crews were with Gary within seconds, precautionary gentle extraction from the car, Gary was and is conscious and talking, just complaining of some back pain so he is being taken to the Medical Centre for a precautionary check-up. 13:25 Pro Fuel Shootout qualifying session 3 (left lane first): Risto Poutiainen 12.0471/76.68 bye; Jari Halinen 6.3195/159.61, John Spuffard 10.5012/84.27; Gordon Smith 6.1305/207.11, Janne Ahonen 8.2385/91.75 0.0923 RT for Risto, 0.8625 to sixty feet and then some of the most violent tyre shake I think I have ever seen. Risto straight off the throttle and straight down to Boots the Chemist I'd imagine. Next up the first handicapped race of the weekend, how would Jari handle hanging on the extra 0.35 seconds? Bob Jarrett visited us in Race Control before this round and told us that the Showtime team had thrown everything in tuning-wise. Big -0.2657 red light for Jari, instant shake and a pedal and off he went. 0.9441 to sixty feet for Spuff, the Showtime FC headed left and then hit bad shake about 150 feet out and shut off. 3.8375/219.23 at half track for Jari then from here it looked like a broken blower belt and off the throttle. Much better RT for Janne, 0.1627 to 0.2226, maybe the longer wait helped there. 0.9644 to sixty feet for Gordon, 0.9099 for Janne, Janne was off it for shake at about 250 feet. Shake and a drift left for Gordon, a pedal at 330 feet, then pulling it straight and back on the throttle in the second half. Qualifying after this session:
13:05 MSA Pro Modified qualifying session 3 (left lane first): Jean Dulamon 7.7049/182.08 bye; Ray White 9.1931/156.83, Henri Joosten 18.0284/53.07; Kev Slyfield 8.3498/141.58, Andy Robinson 6.2952/226.64; Graham Ellis 8.5092/120.94, Bert Englefield 12.2744/111.12 Nice run for Jean, not quite sure what the licencing situation is as this looked like another no-nitrous full pass, driving through shake at about 300 feet. 1.1951 to sixty feet and 4.9707/139.49 at the eighth. As Ray and Henri went to stage the first time it started to sprinkle with rain. Rain seen off they came back for another go. Terrible shake for both cars at the hit, Ray's Zephyr turning to the right, Ray pedalled for a long while and then got back on it, squeezing the throttle on and off down the track. A big cloud of smoke from the Zephyr in the shutdown area. Henri was off the throttle almost imemdiately, some flame out of the left side exhaust. Kev had two goes at the burnout but the tyres didn't light. 0.0746 RT for Kev to Gus' 0.1120, Gus had the much better sixty foot 1.0103 to 1.2027, both pedalled for shake and then back on it, Kev's Willys just looked to uncork at half track and he had his hands full keeping it in his lane and upright. Great run from Gus to take #1 spot, 4.1238/176.11 at half track. Shake off the line for both Eurodragster.com sponsor Graham and Bert, Graham pedalled a couple of times not wanting to get off the throttle, the 'Bird moving left and right in the second half, eventaully Graham got off it. Bert idled down the track.

Stormer, too, from Rene to begin with, 1.0877 to sixty feet then the bike started to drift towards the guardrail and he got off it. Spin for Steve and then some shake and he got off the throttle.

Grumpy's tyres up in smoke and cylinders out at the hit, a pedal then a bang. 1.2551 to sixty feet for Danny, shake past the Tree, a pedal then the motor zinged at about 400 feet and Danny shut off. Big shake for Dennis after sixty foot of 0.9359, the car turned hard left and the left slick crossed the centre line which DQ'd the run, Dennis yanked the car back into his lane and the dragster was up on one wheel for a moment. Dennis stayed on the throttle and got close to the wall in the second eighth, 6.0213/246.41 came up on the timing display but the run doesn't stand. Timo away first 0.1610 to 0.2756, 0.9012 to sixty feet to Esko's 0.9764, both going great guns until Esko hit shake at half track, a pedal and and his 'chute deployed, 202.31 at half track for Esko, though, to Timo's 187.74.

11:45 Super Street Bike qualifying session 2 A great run for Mark Wells moved him up from #12 to #8, in the other lane Mick Templeman had to hang on tight as the bike went from right to left lane immediately after the finish line. Nigel Barker up from #13 to #10 next pair. Couple of pairs later Dave Holland moved from #7 to #4 only to be bumped down a spot by team-mate Wayne Saunders in the next pairing. More drama for Chris Reed as his Busa headed right and he sideswiped the guardrail, looked pretty hard from here and how Boisy stayed on that bike I don't know, superb riding job. Boisy got himself off the track and looked A-OK from here.

The Webster Race Engineering/Nimbus Motorsport webcam is on-line and is set to post a picture every sixty seconds until the track closes on Monday. We had some heavy rain overnight but right now I am looking through the Race Control window at some blue sky coming this way. The weather station is looking quite optimistic for the next 12-24 hours so here is hoping that it knows what it is talking about. Conditions outside as I type are 5.0 C, 98% humidity and 29.35 inches of air. A few Qualifying Day 3 Hellos. Firstly hi to Barry and Ali Bohannon who are tuned in from Rochdale and its environs, hope the treatise is going well Ali.
