18:10 Nostalgia Fuel Altered Association session 2 (left lane first): Frank Bennett 6.6545/175.71, Joe Bond 7.3269/179.82, Tony Betts 8.9759/98.78 bye, Jon Best no time bye Storming run for Frank, 0.9890 to sixty feet, 4.1449/163.52 to the eighth but then some mist and Frank shut off and put the chute out just before the stripe. 0.0935 RT for Joe, he visibly moved first, 1.0671 to sixty feet and 4.6831/148.99 at half track, Joe's Topo was making serious moves towards the top end and Joe did the clever thing and shut off and put the chute out to bring it back. 0.9794 to sixty feet for Tony, then shake right at sixty feet. Tony pedalled and gave it another go, but the altered was making big moves left and right and Tony shut off. First observed run for Jon in the Felstead, Best and Lotsabeera altered, scheduled for a launch. Nicely-controlled short burnout and rolled to a stop at about 500 feet. Very gentle launch, same sound as there would be with a throttle stop on, Jon shut off at about 80 feet and rolled to a halt at 1000 feet. Martin Hill followed on with a 6.2927/251.81 in the Fireforce 3 Jet FC. 18:00 Trackside conditions for this session were 23.1 C, 43% humidity and 29.71 inches of air, track temperature 36.9 C. MSA Pro Modified qualifying session 3 (left lane first): Kev Slyfield 9.2614/107.94 bye, Wayne Nicholson shut off, Bert Englefield 6.7162/210.81 bye, Andy Robinson 6.1763/231.26 bye, Graham Ellis 6.6308/216.14 bye Shake from about 40 feet for Kev, a pedal at about eighty feet and pedalling as the Coupe went left and right. 1.1536 at sixty feet and 5.3565/121.55 at half track. Wayne shut off on return from his burnout. Nice straight run for Bert on the bye, 1.0353 to sixty feet, 4.3361/162.39 at the eighth. Andy Robinson appeared round the corner and pulled his burnout and there was no sign of Graham Ellis against whom he should have been running, his crew started to walk round but then ran back. Graham appeared just as Andy was going into stage. Great run for Gus, 0.005 RT, 1.0233 to sixty feet and 4.0458/183.43 at half track, not much shake to speak of and now the fastest homegrown Pro Mod in the UK although Urban Johansson is fastest in the UK at 233.53. Graham then took his bye, 0.0967 RT, 1.0407 to sixty feet but then visibly went away a little, 'only' 4.3185/166.01 at the eighth (although a lot quicker and faster than I have ever been), I am guessing not quite enough clutch. 17:45 Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 3 (left lane first): Steve Woollatt 6.5588/219.22, Rene van den Berg 8.4771/174.28 Replay of the last time as Steve went straight as you like and Rene headed for the right guardrail. 1.1616 to sixty feet for Steve to Rene's 1.1485, Steve at the eighth in 4.3084/174.26 to Rene's shut off 5.7070/131.31. Qualifying after this session:

Following Comp Bike the Two Seat Dragster had a very special passengerm Amos Meekins who heads up the scrutineering team here at Santa Pod. Jon Webster drove Amos to a 7.911/169.80. 17:30 Funny Bike qualifying after session 3: Another great pass for Kev Charman, stayed in place though. Not so good for Chris Hall whose bike stalled off the line for the second session running, Chris idled down the track to get a time on the board. Nice pass for Gary Jones, I think a best time for this Jones and Friend bike. A big cloud of smoke from Tim Blakemore's Kawasaki at about 400 feet, the track crew called down to clean up a trail of fluid and pieces of metal. Clean-up complete Dave Holland took a bye and consoilidated his #1 spot.

16:30 Super Street Bike qualifying after session 3: Graham Balchin went into this session outside the top sixteen. Into #3 spot with his run in this session though so the fingernails are safe. Next to the line not qualified was Eurodragster.com sponsor Jamie Sneddon, and Graham Dance in the other lane not completely safe at #15. Graham OK at #13 but Jamie is spectating tomorrow. A couple of pairings later Steve Wood staged unqualified and he too will be spectating tomorrow, in the other lane Rich Stubbins improved still further. Richard Hann next to the line in #17, 8.287 or better would do it and 8.204 put him on the bump. Ade Lockley the last to try to get in from outside, #17 as he staged, needed 8.204 or better to qualify and didn't make it with an 8.366.

16:20 Super Modified qualifying after session 3: Craig Gibbs qualified #1 with a 3.130, good as Craig is I am guessing something went through the finish line long before Obsession did! Craig's incrementals to that point were similar to Tim Garlick's 8.021 alongside him. Another PB for Simon Farmer, well done Simon!

16:00 Super Pro ET qualifying after session 3: Not many changes to the standings, maybe to be expected with the hot conditions. 0.0001 breakout for Steve Johnson, doesn't get much closer than that. Brendan Clancy up from #14 to #10 towards the end of the session. Karl Harrison with 7.27 on the FC this time, again alongside dad Rod whose turn it was to break out with a 7.500 on a 7.57 dial-in.

Trackside conditions are 24.7 C, 37% humidity and 29.74 inches of air, track temperature is 40.0 C. 15:45 Pro ET qualifying after session 3: Steve Hudson up from #19 to #3 in the first pairing of the session. Big breakout for Kim Bishop in the big Willys, 10.298 on a 10.60 dial-in. I am guessing a PB, well done Kim! Liz Malcolm up from #16 to #4 in the next pair. Rick McCann's Camaro sounded as if it had a plug missing last round, if I noticed it then it must have been serious! iI turned out that a stud was broken. Running on all eight this time and a huge wheelie, plus a breakout. Lee Huxley up from #13 to #2 three pairings later. A couple of pairings and Billy Gane took over the lead all the way from #19 spot. At that point the top sixteen were separated by 0.0994.

Good-looking run for Wayne too, 1.0842 to sixty feet and 4.5997/156.71 at half track. Great burnouts for Gus and Graham, especially Graham who went to 300 feet or so. What a superb match between Andy and Graham, Graham has found the sweet spot on the clutch setting I'd say! Andy away first 0.0832 to 0.0880, the better sixty foot 1.0124 to 1.0330 and to the eighth in 4.0885/175.61 to Graham's 4.1122/179.56. A new PB for Graham, well done Blakey! 14:20 Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 2 (left lane first): Rene van den Berg 7.0916/206.20, Steve Woollatt 6.6260/203.20, Ian Turburville 8.1656/164.85 bye A visible holeshot and another straight run for Steve, 1.1440 to sixty feet and 4.3187/172.72 at half track. Rene got to sixty feet in 1.1562 and was headed for the centre line, 4.6718/160.11 at half track, staying on the thtottle and pulling it straight. 1.4347 for Turbo on his first run of the day, a little hesitation at about 100 feet, 5.3850/145.69 at half track. Qualifying after this session:
14:15 Super Gas qualifying after session 2: 9.962 for both Paul Foote and Dave Day in the second pairing of the session. Nice 0.007 RT for Jon Evans whilst in the other lane Jon Morton moved up from #7 to #3.

Funny Bike qualifying after session 2: Nice first pass for Dave Holland put him into #1 spot at that point, Chris Hall in the other lane broke off the line. Dave rode through shake and sounded to be feathering the throttle a little so more left there. Great runs for both Kev Charman and Gary Jones put them into #3 and #4 at that point.

12:10 Nostalgia Fuel Altered Association session 1 (left lane first): Tony Betts 8.4673/101.47, Joe Bond 7.4786/176.29, Frank Bennett 6.6994/193.80, John Wright 6.5169/220.98, Dave Grabham 7.2714/186.64 bye Joe visibly away first 0.1242 to 0.2894, Joe driving through shake whilst Tony had to pedal. 4.7463/145.67 to half track for Joe, 4.5737/135.17 for Tony, Tony shut off at about half track whilst Joe stayed with it taking a long way round. Great match-up between Frank and John, Frank away first 0.1380 to 0.3723, 1.0480 to sixty feet for Frank and 1.0807 for John, John had the better eighth 4.2791/193.80 to 4.2846/174.12 but Frank held on and got there first by 0.0517. Chaos got very close indeed to the centre line at the top and then John had to get stopped from the huge speed with no chutes. Nice pass for Dave, 1.1920 to sixty feet, staying with it as the altered moved around its lane, 4.7061/154.15 at half track and a new PB speed, well done Dave! Martin Hill followed the NFAA with a 6.2572/254.53 in the Fireforce 3 Jet FC. 11:55 MSA Pro Modified qualifying session 1 (left lane first): Bert Englefield 7.5703/197.12 bye, Wayne Nicholson broke, Kev Slyfield 7.3328/182.21 bye, Graham Ellis 7.3153/158.97, Andy Robinson 6.1474/225.46 Great to see Bert back, the Coupe hardly showing any sign of its guardrail excursion at the FIA Main Event. A huge burnout, then shake at the hit, a long pedal and then back on the gas, a move left and right but Bert stayed with it and I bet he felt good for that. Good to see Kev back today after it seemed that he was out after problems in testing yesterday. It sounded as if Wayne's burst panel went in the burnout. Kev took the bye, 1.1567 to sixty feet, the car visibly squatting down and going in the first eighth, 4.6767/150.61 at half track and then fishtailing but Kev stayed with it. 0.0903 RT for Andy, 1.0128 to sixty feet, 1.0241 to sixty for Graham, Gus' rear tyres smoked briefly past the tree and there are shake marks on the track, 4.0124/184.02 at half track. Violent shake for Graham which he drove through but then had to back off as it got too much at the top end. Qualifying after this session:
11:45 Top Fuel Bike qualifying session 1 (left lane first): Steve Woollatt 6.5997/210.14 bye, Rene van den Berg 14.9039/46.51 bye A great baseline pass for Steve. 1.1611 to sixty feet, 4.3164/173.66 at half track and very, very straight. A contrast for Rene, the bike moving to the right in the burnout and then doing exactly the same under power. 1.1787 to sixty feet but then shutting off as the bike headed for the rail. Trackside conditions at the start of Pro ET were 19.2 C, 69% humidity and 29.74 inches of air, track temperature was 20.1 C. 7:25 Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway for our coverage of the SPRC Summernationals brought to you in association with American Car Imports. The Webster Race Engineering/Lex Joon Racing USA Tour 2009 webcam is on-line and posting a picture every sixty seconds. It's currently overcast but dry here at Santa Pod, the overcast is predicted to lift and then we have a bright weekend. Trackside conditions are 15.6 C, 86% humidity and 29.74 inches of air and the weather station is looking good into tomorrow. A slight but beneficial change to our event coverage this weekend. If you were tuned in to Eurodragster.com News earlier this week then you will have read that Tog was commentating as has become traditional at this event. Simon was lined up to do the live race report and there would have been no pit notes. However Tog is now not commentating, so has moved back to posting the race report and Simon will now be bringing you pit notes. We have a couple of birthdays today. Happy Birthday first to Geoff Martin who heads up the UK Tech Crew. Geoff's caravan at the far end of the pits is festooned with balloons and banners.
