Our next event coverage, and our final event coverage of 2006, will be from the Top Fuel Exhibibition at the Bahrain International Circuit on 25th-27th October. This weekend's Event Coverage has been brought to you in association with American Car Imports. 14:45 Subject to ratification, the 2006 UK Champions are as follow. Congratulations to:
MSA British Drag Racing Championship: Rob Turner, runner-up Dave Wilson 13:40 The rain isn't going away and even if it stopped now the track would take a number of hours to drive so Race Director Darren Prentice has called the event. Stay tuned and we will bring you this year's Champions and today's gallery. 12:00 Super Pro ET eliminations round 1 winners: Steve Johnson (7.44) 7.617/170.38, Rick Cooke (8.22) 8.266/154.62 bye, Barry Giles (7.75) 7.832/150.95, Paul Jackson (8.80) 9.115/117.19...John Everitt and Nick Spence were getting ready to stage when the rain started to come down again. Stay tuned. 11:50 Pro ET qualifying final top five:
Now we go into eliminations. 9:00 Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway. It's day two of the UK National Finals and we're here to bring you all the action in association with American Car Imports. The Webster Race Engineering/MPM Oil webcam is on-line and broadcasting a picture every two minutes. The traditional raceday Good Morning to our US correspondents Ed O'Connell and Kathy Hileman who are tuned in from Rye, NH. Hope you are having a good weekend guys and hang on in there Ed, only a few weeks to go huh? If you were tuned in yesterday then you will remember that the way it was left was that we would attempt to complete cycle two of qualifying this morning, so long as the track opened at 9:00, and then go into eliminations. This was of course a good plan, right up until 4:00 this morning when we had a monumental storm and most of the UK's water requirement for a week fell onto Santa Pod accompanied by thunder and lightning. So as you can imagine the track crew are out there right now working their socks off to get the track ready. Qualifying cycle two has been cancelled with the exception of the last two pairs of Pro ET session two; Top Methanol and Top Fuel Bike will also have another qualifying session this morning. As I type the track crew are concentrating on the shutdown area, looking out of Race Control the sky is blue with light high cloud and the sun is shining on the track. Simon is sitting to my right working away on this morning's first set of pit notes so stay tuned for those. Stay tuned and as soon as the track opens we'll bring you all the news.
