Another straight run for Jim, off it after 1000' and a slight improvement in ET for him. Great runs for Frank and Nick, Nick getting slightly squirelly after 1000' and his first six in the car, well done Nick! Joe's third licensing pass and he kept on it to about 1200' after a soft launch, 1.565 to 60', Joe looking very comfortable handling the car under power. John Wright ran 161.83 at half track and 1.172 at 60ft. A puff of smoke at 800' and he was off the throttle after 1000', but still a very creditable time for the new car. Final standings: 1. Tony Betts 6.702/204.74 MSA Top Methanol Final: John staged for points, with the problems still to be fully sorted. Rob performed his best pass of the weekend by far, straight down the track with little tyre shake apparent. Junior Dragster Eliminations round 4 winners: Anna Stanley 9.09 9.047/69.87 bye, Scott Hauser (7.90) 7.947/78.68. 14:35 Gordon Smith came out in Shockwave launched with an 0.891 60' time, to a 7.390/117.55, 3.941/148.47 to half-track, a cloud of nitro coming out of the car at half track just as the car struck the tyres and Gordon lifted. The team are much happier now they are getting further and further down the quarter-mile with each pass. The person holding the rubber chicken on a stick was helped by an obliging marshal who took it and hung it directly behind the jet's tailpipe in order to give it some additional cooking heat. The thrust however blew the rubber chicken off the stick back towards the barn to the huge amusement of all gathered! 14:10 Super Modified eliminations Round 2 winners: 9.50 Bike eliminations Round 3 winners: Super Street Bike eliminations Round 3 winners: Pro Stock Bike eliminations Round 1 winners: Pro Mod Testing, Session 4: Gordon straighter but slightly slower, Danny fishtailing a little and then lifting at half-track. Super Twin Gas eliminations Round 1 winners: Wild Bunch eliminations Round 1 winners: VW Alternate Engine eliminations Round 1 winners: 11:30 Gordon Smith made a run with Shockwave, burning out to 330' and a great launch, 0.936 sixty foot, Gordon pedalling once after shake and then overpowering the track. The team were much happier this time. Top Fuel Bike qualifying Session 3: Steve away first and a real wobble for him, but the best time for the weekend and he is no.1 qualifier. Nostalgia Fuel Altereds, Session 3 (left lane first): Fantastic burnouts for both Nick and Bob, points being awarded for best burnouts in the NFAA Championship. Straight run for Nick to yet another NPB in the car and first 200mph speed for it, strong run for Bob too. Frank improved slightly to a 7.411. In the next pair, Dennis Wratten and Clayton Round both burnt out to the eighth mile marker, Dennis getting the burnout award. On the run, Dennis drifted right and kept with it, wiping out the 1000' reflector in the process, a great performance for a debut. An improvement for Clayton too. Joe made a licensing run to exactly half-track, unburnt fuel coming out of the right-hand bank of headers. Jim Usher ran the car arrow-straight to a NPB, well done Jim! Later John Wright fired up but, reversing after the burnout, liquids found their way on to the track and John shut off. Standings after 3 sessions: Pro Mod Testing, Session 3 (left hand lane first) : Door-handle to door-handle for Danny and Gordon at the top end as both go the long way round. Andy swaying both ways until a bang and smoke at 330', possibly a blower belt. John had a really wild one, the car leaking fuel, then missing the left wall by a fag paper's width, going into the right lane, and still he got back on it! He went through in his lane, at an angle of about 45 degrees. We're on a brief hold for clean-up, stay tuned. Our first run after the clean-up was Martin Hill in Fireforce 3 running a 6.800/245.00. 10:40 Super Comp eliminations Round 1 winners: Track temperature 34 degrees celsius, air temperature 21 degrees, humidity 33%, air pressure 29.91 in. It’s eliminations day at the SPRC Summernationals and we’re here to bring you all the news in association with American Car Imports. The Webster Race Engineering/MPM Oil webcam is on-line throughout the weekend and is broadcasting a picture every two minutes. Just a few pit notes from yesterday's action. We saw John Parkinson last night and he has located a replacement main bearing for the Every Penny Top Methanol Dragster, so he is expecting to run today. The Top Methanol Dragsters and Top Fuel Bikes will have a third qualifier at about 11:35am and the finals will be at 3:10pm, these times depending on weather and track conditions. Not such good news from Wendy Baker's pit, she sustained considerable engine and transmission damage from her burnout explosion, so we're not sure whether we will see her run today. We wish the team well in their rebuild.
