The rain did stop for a short while but it came back again in short order giving Event Director Kjell Pettersson no choice but to call a halt for today.

At the time that Kjell called the event, I was at the bottom of the shutdown area watching Martin Hill test the engine of the Fireforce 3 Jet FC. The Jet FC was chained to two very large lumps of concrete with a strain gauge in between car and concrete, the team looked happy with the results and the engine certainly sounded very strong at full chat.

Our next scheduled coverage is from next weekend's FIA Main Event here at Santa Pod. Qualifying, and our live coverage, starts on Friday although we will be up at the track from midweek and we will of course bring you all the news from Santa Pod. Good morning and welcome from Santa Pod Raceway. It's the second day of pre-FIA Main Event testing and we're here to bring you all the news in association with American Car Imports.

The Webster Race Engineering/MPM Oil webcam is on-line and broadcasting a picture every two minutes.

We again had some rain overnight and this morning but the track crew are out right now working very hard to get the strip ready. Trackside conditions are 12.8 C, 65% humidity, and 29.18 inches of air. Yesterday's stiff wind, which went from head-on to a right-to-left crosswind, has abated and there is now a gentle tailwind.

A distant rumble as we were setting everything up was the the Veidec/Landmeco Top Fuel team warming up the engine of their dragster. Håkan Nilsson has two more licencing passes to go and with today's weather looking frankly unpromising the team are making the best use possible of the time they have by getting ready first thing. We would like to say a big Good Morning to a few people whom we know are tuned in. First up is our good buddy Andy Bissett, clutch technician on Ashley Force's Top Alcohol Dragster team, who is tuned in from California. As far from Andy as they are from us, but still in the USA, are our US correspondents Ed O'Connell and Kathy Hileman who are watching from New Hampshire, good morning to you guys. A little closer to home, our good friend Gittli Koller is tuned in from Bavaria, and Lex Joon and Gerda Dijkstra are looking in from The Netherlands.
