16:45

back on it then shut it off past the eighth. Roger Forsström (8.06) with an improvement, 7.7005 to move to #11.

but quickly shut off and moved over to the side of the lane. Angelica Bäckman's dragster was pushed away before

took #1 spot. In the other lane Odd Roar Øgård edged out of stage so no time. Preben Bærentzen shut off for a fluid leak before

16:10
Street qualifying session 4
Great opener for Helena Olsson and Torbjörn Israelsson, Helena with an 8.6707 and Torbjörn with an 8.6507
and straight in at #5, but smoke from Torbjörn's motor and the car started moving about culminating in
quite a violent move left and right and through the smoke I could see Torbjörn put the chute out. Track checked
and clean-up called.
On the restart a close breakout for Gideon Liljegren, 8.5869. Next pair and Terje Sætherhaug moved up to
#6 with an 8.7095.Rolf Berglund next up the ladder, next pair, up to #3 at 8.6519. Kim Pettersson closed the
session with a bye, 8.6856 good for a move to #5.
15:50
Stock/Super Stock qualifying session 4
A lot of smoke from Thomas Strand's Pontiac, realised something was wrong and pulled over, stopped just before
the stripe. Quad went to rescue and clean-up called, long and wide trail of oil.
Again a session of consistency, one change in the ladder although I would imagine that the heat is now playing a part plus
the breeze has moved round to a headwind. An improvement for Krister Fogelin (10.95) 10.1137 but stayed in place. Kai Suilo
ran along the centre line ultimately parting
the hair of the 330 foot reflector. 11.4269 for Markus Svensson (11.80) but stayed #28. Next pair and problems for Jarmo
Grönman, pulled over and stopped by the left guardrail at 1000 feet. Quad came to his rescue.

Now going into qualifying cycle 4.
14:45
Super Comp qualifying session 3
-0.0039 squeaker red for Kristina Hägglund Nygren but getting closer to the index at 8.8741
Leif Andersson left before the lights ran, in the other lane Siri Johansen stopped by the Tree.
Meanwhile Micke Nilsson was pushed away and his car was almost collected by Thomas Hauge's Mustang
which was being pushed back to allow Siri's dragster to be pushed off the track. Thoams then with
problems cruised along the track. Matilda Sjöström-Andersson improved again, 8.9545 to
move up to #2. Mari Udtian closed the session with a bye, an improvement to 8.9105 to consolidate
#1 spot, that was with significant throttle feathering in the second half.

0.0056 RT into the bargain. Annica Larsson pushed back before staging, in the other lane Patrick Wickman
held whilst the track was checked. Clean-up crew called to the shutdown area, clean-up in the right lane.

14:20
Comp Eliminator qualifying session 3
Robert Arthursson (7.32) opned the session with a 6.6750 for #3. First run of the day for Per Mikkelsen (8.02),
officially a shakedown pass, 7.6249 good for #8. Puffs of smoke from the motor, track checked and all OK.
Next pair and Jens Eklund had problems burning out and was pushed back. Jens Zimmermann (7.85) took the bye,
was going great guns but shut off at about half track. Gideon Liljegren (7.85) up to #10 at 7.4930, in the
other lane something looked to break big time at the hit for Jesper Stenberg (7.00), the car moved
a few feet then twitched and stopped dead. Matti Rajamäki (9.77) took a bye to end the session, 9.0872 put him #3.
14:05
Simon has posted a second set of pit notes which you can check out via the Event Index.
Pro Street qualifying session 3
First pair and Anders Back looked to have problems after his burnout, sat doan at the eighth for
a long time before coming back, Christer Åberg waited patiently only for his tyres to blaze
at the hit. Anders' 8.5525 good for #17. improvement for Anna Knutes, up from #14 to #12 at 7.8020.
Alexandra Wingård pushed back before staging. Seppo Raussi with an improvement, 7.7966 up
to #12. Jens Lönngren closed the session, much improved run but too good, 7.5876 so the
earlier 9.5759 stands.
Bump spot going out of this session 8.0764, that has to be a seven next time surely.
13:55
Simon has posted a second set of pit notes which you can check out via the Event Index.
Street qualifying session 3
First pair and an 8.6792 good for a move up to #3 for Marcus Gustafsson. Angelica Larsson up to #4 at 8.7381 with an impressive
red light, not that it matters in qualifying but there wasn't much between the red light and No Time. 8.7455 moved Kim Peterson up
to #5, a quick gold dust pf the start line ensued in Kim's lane. Bye for Rolf Berglund and up to #3 at 8.6585.
Big Starliner v Big Chevy next pair, Peter Nordlund v Felix Nilsson, #24 on a breakout v #10. 7.5710 for Peter,
improvement but still propping up the rest of the field on a breakout. Big shake for Michael Maderer, we felt that in here,
and do you know what he drive straight through it.
13:35

Krister Fogelin (10.95) next up the ladder, 10.1620 good for #17. Åke Hedberg (11.00) looked to shut it off early, nothing
visibly wrong. Lasse Bodén (10.70) gets points for a bucking bronco ride, the car reeatedly wheelying as it headed for
the centre line but did Lasse back out of it? Did he bog roll.
On hold for track grooming.

Pro Modified licencing
Marcus Perman no time, bye
Great burnout by Marcus, one of those take-a-run-at-it jobs. Didn't hold it on the line so no time,
sounded to run out of gears in the second half. Lane checked, small mop-ups here and there.
12:40
Comp Eliminator qualifying session 2
Spectacular pair to start the session, Krister Adeen (7.23) in at #1 with a 6.6684 and Robert Arthursson (7.32)
to #2 spot at 6.8917. Mats Lundkvist (7.85) then took over #1 with a 7.2574, in the other lane Roger Forsström (8.06)
shook out his chute again and was under power a fair way. Lars-Georg-Johansson (7.62) with a great and very noisy 7.1054
moved up to #3. Niklas Heikkilä (7.50) having been pushed back last round took a bye, into #1 with a 6.7989 as Viljae
Mäesepp was pushed away. Andres Arnover (6.89) went into the session as #1, went to the line at #6, what could he do?
Jesper Stenberg was pushed away leaving Andres with the bye. Spectacular run, 6.2905/367.35 for #2 spot but then drama as
both chutes came off the car. Andres visibly on the brakes and the car got into a bounce then went out of shape
and turned right, hitting the guardrail head-on. Safety crews moved instantly and were with Andres
in moments, he got himself out of the car and is reportedly fine. The car is, unfortunately, less fine.
Retrieval complete, Jens Eklund (8.06) closed the session with a 7.2874 to take #1 spot.
Pro Mod licencing follows.
12:20

8.5845 breakout for Sami Holm in the first pair. Another audible feather of the throttle for Angelica Larsson,

Great side-by-side between Helena Olsson 8.6268 and Jörgen Holmgren 8.6049, Helena up to #2 and Jörgen
#1 in the tiny Anglia. Next pair and Daniel Alfreddon's BMW blackstriped all the way to an 8.8410, Mauritz Råberg

looked at the green for a while then broke out big time, 8.3598. Matilda Sjöström-Andersson's dragster

the Islanders dragster. Breakout for Johanna Granholm in the other lane. Kevin Danielsson with an 8.5074 and it
could have been even quicker as the dragster was moving about its lane. Pair of 8.9s to end the session, Michelle
Rosander at 8.9780 and Leif Andersson 8.9955 with a bouncy run in the slingshot.
10:50
Simon has posted his first set of pit notes which you can check out via the Event Index.

Caddy, didn't let us down with the smoke from the stack. Got to about half track, shut it off and started to
pull to the edge of the lane but then the Caddy made a hard left but Mårten kept hold of it.
Quick hold for track grooming.

Motor started but shut off after about thirty seconds and pushed back to the pits.
Per Magnusson 8.3833/183.80 bye
Magnus in the (former, one now assumes) Wikström blown-alcohol Camaro, Patrick himself on primer bottle duty during fire-up.
Well-controlled 100-foot burnout. 1.1861 to sixty, 4.9989/234.58 at the eighth, off the gas and chutes out in the second half.
Looked good from here.
10:30
Comp Eliminator qualifying session 1
Shake and spin for Krister Adeen (7.23), shut it off with rear end bouncing up and down. Jens Zimmermann (7.85)
on a good one to start with but shut off and chutes out before the stripe, 8.3382. Looked like a problem for
Robert Arthursson (7.32) after the burnout, long discussion with crew before backing up but came back in the end
whilst Roger Forström (8.06) waited patiently. Roger with shake bad enough to put the chute out about
200 feet out, Robert hit shake then spin then about 150 feet out the Camaro took a hard step left, Robert
camly pedalled and gathered it in then stomped on it again and still ran 7.9308.
Mats Lundkvist (7.85) with a good baseline, Viljar Mäesepp (7.32) had problems off the line, cruised for
a while then hit the gas again, close to the centre line at the top end and took out a reflector but it was quickly
replaced. Niklas Keikkilä (7.50) pushed back after his burnout, in the othet lane Lasse Britsmar (7.90) also
pushed back after his burnout. Quick bit of moppery in Niklas' lane. On the restart Estonia's own Anders Arnover
(6.89) with a great 6.5027 took #1 spot, squirrelly 7.1335 for Bj&oshash;rn Johansen (7.50) in the other lane good
for #2. Lars-Georg Johansson (7.62) with tyre spin and screaming motor, a pedal and back on it but time lost.
Gideo Liljegren (7.85) with a very hard launch, the car moving left and right, 7.6724 good for #3 at that point.
Jim Bergström (6.89) with a launch, troubled-looking 1.4303 to sixty, then shut off. In the other lane
Jens Eklund (8.06) rolled the beams in the Audi so no time. Jesper Stenberg (7.00) shut off before staging, in the
other lane a hesitant launch for Matti Rajamäki (9.77) but still under index at 9.4435. Minor mop-and-raggery
in Jesper's lane.
Next up a couple of Pro Mod licence passes.
09:45
Another hold for spots of rain. Apparently it "Hasn't rained for weeks" and then the English guys turned up.
09:40
The results on the right are now being updated so hit Refresh and they should appear.
Pro Street qualifying session 1
Up a class, down a second, 7.60 index, go quicker than 7.50 and you go home. 300-foot burnout by Christian Kongshem
then Christian and Anders Back shut off for spots of rain. Radar showed it to be brief, jet dryer summoned to the top
end for a quick pass or two.
On the restart a great 7.6307 for Christian Kongshem, in the other lane Anders Back with shake, a pedal and
back on it but time lost. Anna Knutes in a Pro Mod Which Isn't, Michael Maderer as ever winning points for the
Nightwish logo in the back window but tyres up in smoke at the hit. Anna with a hesitation off the line costing
her ET, 8.3962 but good for #2 at that point. Tommy Abrahamsson with problems on the green, car didn't move,
Jens Lönngren with spin, a pedal and then feathering the throttle to get it to bite. Next pair and a 7.5906
for Seppo Raussi good for #2 at that point, 8.1089 for Pelle Arvidsson good for #3. Side by side 7.6762 and
7.7226 for Michael Ohlsson and Magnus Lidberg, #2 and #3, Magnud had shake which we briefly felt in here so more
to come. Always good to see Daniel Halleståm with the big '59 Plymouth, 7.8126 from a car which at first sight
you'd think couldn't get out of its own way. Wrong! In the other lane Johan Källberg into #2 at 7.6516 using the
parachute as a tuning aid. 7.5599 breakout for Micke Norén, Mats Lusth with a 7.6901 good for #4. Great pair between
Preben Bærentzen 7.6158 and Pär Norgren 7.6040, Pär into #1 and Preben into #2 although it's a good
thing that that was not a race as Preben sat on the line for an age after the green. Some impressive plumbing emerging
from the bonnet of Felix Nilsson's Chevy contributing to a 7.5760 breakout. Alexandra Wingård suffered tyre
spin at the hit losing her time. Odd Roar Øgård with tyre spin and smoke, a pedal but then cruised. Gentle
launch for Roger Kullander then a puff of smoke at about 300 feet and off the gas, track checked and all OK.
Peter Nordlund's huge Starliner with a 7.5406 breakout in the last pair, another case of don't let the looks fool
you.

Street qualifying session 1
First time I have seen Street. I like it! 8.60 index, on the trailer if you go below 8.00. Couple of wheelies for Kim
Petersson, shut it off before the eighth, 9.5133 for Sami Holm. First breakout of the day for Gideo Liljegren, 8.5398,
smoke from the motor in the shutdoan area but all OK. 8.8104 for Marcus Gustafsson good for #1 at that point, in the other
lane Jan Fricke Fredriksson lost drive a few yards, sorry metres, out, the car was bouncing up and down on its back end as
it slowed down so I suspect rear end trouble. Hold for retrieval. Torbjön Israelsson opened his door and summoned
his crew before burning out, pushed back. Nicely judged 8.8303 for Angelica Larsson good for #2, car was a bit squirrely to
begin with and you could hear her feathering the throttle in the second half to stay below index. Nice wheelie and then 8.5438
breakout for Jörgen Holmgren in his little Anglia, in the other late Mauritz Rådberg with problems shut it off
past the Tree. Big shake then spin for Terje Sætherhaug, peddaled then stomed back on it, the car picked up nicely
but too much time lost. Daniel Alfredsson with a 9.0542 into #3 in the last pair.

Stock/Super Stock qualifying session 1
Lars Björklund with a 10.8393 on 12.00 index made an early claim on #1. Erik Wallin pushed away from the lanes.
Red as the lights ran for Carla Pittau, timers triggered so so her ET not representative. Anders Eriksson's 10.4867 on
11.40 good for #4. Rick McCann's Camaro showing its war wound from an over-enthusiastic landing a couple of weeks
back but the car has lost nothing for it, 0.0581 RT and a great wheelie. Jimmy Arvidsson pushed back before staging.
Mathias Färm into #1 at 9.3783 on 10.55 index. Big wheelspin and a move left for Kai Suilo. Double-step, both with
a wheelie, for Markus Svensson, shut it off in the second half. Wheelie of the Day so far for Bj&oum;rn Bondesson, in
the other lane Lars Nyberg up to #4 with a 10.4393 on 11.50. Erik Wallin back having fixed his promblem, hesitant launch
but got to the other end.

Junior Drag Bike qualifying session 1
RT qualifying for Junior Bikes here. Samuel Rundström first in at #1 with a 0.4059, next pair
Trygve Kjærstad Helgerud in with a 0.0935 to take the lead. 0.0018 for Eeemeli Helkkala took top
spot, bike had a go at throwing her off but she had a hold of it.

Junior Dragster qualifying session 1
First to leave the line at the 2018 Tierp Internationals Stine Aune Hasselvold, albeit -0.0327, Tomas Nurminen
waited for the green and took the first legal RT of the event at 0.0307.Some consternation around Laura Blomberg's dragster before
staging but all OK, into stage but then stopped at the hit. Couple of tyre turns for Niklas Larsson cost him some time but his RT good
for #3 at that point. Next pair and Almathea Granholm into #1 at 0.0301. 0.0424 for Kevin Granholm put him #3 at that point.
Jesper Norin edged out of stage as the lights ran, no time. Next pair and Wilma Andersson took over the lead at 0.0237.
Great to see a Junior Funny Car out there, Celina Hanssen with a 0.0841 as an opener, #10 at that point. Session ends with
Wilma #1.

Good morning and welcome from Tierp Arena for our coverage of the Tierp Internationals brought to you in association with
John Woolfe Racing.
It is a nice day here; lots of blue sky with some high cloud, gentle cross-track breeze.
A big Good Morning to our Eurodragster.com colleagues Kirstie and Julian and of course to our off-track photog Diana
who are all tuned in from the UK. Good morning also to the Eurodragsterholics, especially Kai Plathan and the faithful Otto
tuned in from Finland, longtime Event Coverage fans Ivar Kolberg in Norway and James Humphreys in the UK, Eurodragster.com
supporter Bob Roberts and our regular proof-readers Spencer Tramm and Andy Marrs in the UK, but thanks to all of the
'holics for your support. If you are tuned in from your day jobs today and tomorrow then please be careful not to get yourselves
fired for reading our reports. On the subject of day jobs, a big Hello to Sunil and all of Your Reporter's colleagues in EFA,
hope that all is OK there.
The plan for today's coverage is the usual real-time reports throughout the day, Simon's pit notes updated throughout the day,
and a photo gallery at the end of the day courtesy of our good friends Lena Perés and Remco Scheelings. As you can see,
and as is usual for our coverage at Tierp Arena, we are using the popular split screen format for our reports showing our
commentaries on one side and results, courtesy of Time-Tree, on the other.
For Sportsman classes we will concentrate on the commentaries to add colour to the standings at right but Pro classes will receive
the usual full descriptions and results. Before anyone E-Mails, we are aware that the right-hand side of the screen contains results
from a previous event but until the first qualifying results are posted this morning a link for this event's results will not exist.
We will change it as soon as there is something to see and a Refresh will update the page for you.
As if our coverage were not enough, Nitroz TV and Tierp Arena are broadcasting free Web TV from this event. Broadcast is
scheduled to commence at 09:00 local each day, and will continue so long as the track is open. You can find a direct link
to the Web TV on the Event Index page.
Yesterday Your Pit Reporter and Your Race Reporter acted as some kind of magnets. One row behind us on our flight to
Stockholm was none other than UK Fuel legend and International and British Drag Racing Hall of Fame member Dennis Priddle,
who will be attending the Tierp Internationals as part of the celebrations of fifty years of drag racing in Sweden. A stop
in McDonalds in Uppsala attracted large numbers of pretty girls although, to be fair, that happens pretty much everywhere
you go in this country so it could have been coincidence. Finally, yesterday evening we were eating dinner in one
of the local pizzerias when who should walk in but Top Fuel Dragster racer Micke Kågered. Micke ordered no less than
seven pizzas and smiled sheepishly when Simon pointed out the likelihood of fitting in his dragster after eating that lot.
Race officials have four cycles of Sportsman qualifying scheduled today. A complete cycle consists of, in this order, Junior
Dragster, Junior Drag Bike, Stock/Super Stock, Street, Pro Street, Comp Eliminator, Super Street, Super Gas, Super Comp, Super
Gas Bike and Super Comp Bike. Junior Dragster have been requested to attend the lanes at 08:20.
Stay tuned and keep hitting Refresh and as soon as the wheels start to turn we'll start to bring you the news.
