Junior Dragster racer Casper Ljungdahl, son of Pro Stock racer Bengt Ljungdahl is in his first season and is in a brand new car. Last weekend he won the Pistonhead Open Race at Kjula Dragway. After the first session he was qualified eleventh with 0.0825 RT. |
Stock/Super Stock racer Mathias Munther runs his Plymouth Duster under the name Just In Time racing and is qualified 23rd with 11.70 on 11.80 index. Pictures of Mathias's previous cars can be seen at his web site. |
Stock/Super Stock racer Kjell Gisslar runs in AA/S. His '68 Camaro has run a best 9,97/212.5 and has a 396cu in BBC, 10.5 in clutch, and Jerico gearbox. After the first session he was placed tenth with a 10.02 on a 10.60 index. |
Super Street racer Halvor �verby sheltered under the tunnel below the startline tower during a rain shower and missed out running before the wet stuff appeared. His Opel K�pit�n was built by M�rten Johansson and has a Chevy 540cu in with Merlin block, TH350, and Dana 60 rear axle. Some of Super Street are pitted behind the startline tower as the normal pit area has been filled to capacity. |

Mike and Michelle Domagala of Premium Motorsports Products are holding an 'Open House' at the pits of Top Fuel Dragster racer Stefan Gunnarson on Sunday. Mike said 'Our aim is to supply parts to Top Fuel and Top Methanol teams and we have helped Rune Fjeld and Peter Lantz source items for a couple of years. We have got excellent relationships with parts vendors in the US and our customer base is in Europe, Australia and the IHRA'. Mike explained the advantages of being able to directly select quality items for teams, to obtain good individual shipping rates and to group parts shipments in containers for even cheaper delivery costs. Discounts on some products will be offered, for instance Hussey Gaskets for which orders will be taken this event. |
Rick Stubbins and Alex Hope made the journey from the UK to run in Super Street Bike in the EDRS Pro Series. There is a field of nineteen bikes competing. Rick said 'We had some gear selection problems at the Main Event, have looked at that and it now works fine.' Their first qualifying runs will be on Friday. |
Top Fuel Dragster racer Micke Kågered said that his car was on display at a rock festival for five days just prior to this event, but the dust created needed a lot of hosing down. As runner up in the Main Event, Micke is looking to go one better here in his pursuit of a third consectutive Top Fuel championship. |
Top Methanol Dragster racer Chris Polidano is one of only two cars in the class, the other being the A/Fuel car of Jonny Lagg. Chris said 'The team this weekend is all Maltese. We have been in touch with tuning consultant Jerry Darien and he said we should be able to run very quick this weekend. We were pleased to run a 5.29 at the Main Event and hope the starting problems caused by a pinch in the fuel line won't occur this time.' |
Pro Stock Bike racer and Eurodragster.com blogger Kalle Lyrén has been busy since the end of the 2015 European season with the NHRA meetings at Las Vegas and Pomona last Autumn and Gainesville in March. He said 'We were really pleased at Gainesville to run 6.98, 6.99 and 6.96. We have a bigger 1850cc engine but will start with the 1755cc one and see whether we need to step up.' Kalle is also busy as a sales rep for Parts Europe and helping dad Roger run Lyrén Motorsport. |
Pro Mod racer Rolf Simonsson has stepped up from Competition Eliminator. Rolf's nitrous Camaro was built 2009 by Advanced Chassis. Its best ET so far is 6.68/331kph (note all speeds at this event will be quoted in kph). It has a Pat Musi 903cu in engine, Dart Heads, fuel injection, Turbin clutch, TH400 ATI gearbox and Strange rear end. |
Former Top Methanol Dragster racer Paul Ingar Udtian and wife Mona own the legendary Islanders Super Comp car (built in 1989) which is raced by daughter Maja, aged 18. Maja won her first race of the year at Fr&oslah;ya Raceway and qualified no.1 after the first session. Maja's sister Mari, aged 14, races a Junior Dragster and was fifteenth after the first session. |
Comp Eliminator racer Matti Rajamäki races this Ford Mustang II in G/A. He has raced since 1997 and the car's best is 8.79/244. It was built 1997 by W.Broogie, Indiana and has a Ford 351 Cleveland engine, C3 heads, Ross pistons, Pro 500 fuel pump, Pro Flite gearbox, and Dana 60 rear. |
Super Comp racer Daniel Norberg broke out in session one with an 8.877 to go ninth. Daniel's Nova II has a BBC 540cu in engine with no power adder, Dart Big M block, Brodix BBB2 heads, and Powerglide trans. |
Comp Eliminator racer Stefan Persson runs a E/D with a Rodeck four cylinder engine, repainted yellow for this season. The engine displaces 2850cc, and transmits its power through a L&T clutch and Liberty gearbox. Best time to date is 9.586/232. |
Stock/Super Stock racer Jarmo Grönman has a very impressive rig with Mountain Dew livery prominent as it is on the race car. His C/S Camaro has run a best of 10.09/213. It was built in 1999 and has an aluminium Chevrolet LS1 346cu in engine and Jerico gearbox. A below-par 12.52 on a 11.25 index placed him 32 of 33 qualifiers in the first session. |
Stock/Super Stock racer Tarmo Mikkola was 2015 Champion and ran a 9.89 on a 10.60 index to go sixth in the first session. Tarmo's Camaro has a 350cu in Chevy engine, McClay 200 gearbox and Mark Williams 9 inch rear. |
Stock/Super Stock racer Timo Eronen is also from Finland. This Hemi-engined '68 Dart is one of three muscle cars raced by Timo, the others being a '70 Challenger and '68 Cuda. A 9.085 on 9.30 index placed Timo 22nd after session one. |

Nic and brother Dan have been focused on getting the cars down to the minimum weight as the initial scrutineering revealed both to be well over. Nic qualified fourteenth with a 10.097 on 10.60 index. |
Stock/Super Stock racer Dan Williams ran a great time on his first run but it was taken away from him in the official results. The team were taking weight out of the car after the scutineering session in an attempt to better the NHRA class record of 9.88; the car's best to date has been a 9.91. |
Stock/Super Stock racer Göran Larsson went sixteenth with an 11.27 on 11.70 index. His 1970 Camaro runs a BBC of 402 cu in. Göran who lives very close to Tierp Arena, has helped a lot of Stock/Super Stock racers in the past and this is his first race as a car owner. |
Stock/Super Stock racer Rick McCann sourced a new 400cu in SBC engine after damage to the heads of his other engine. 'It put out 610hp on the dyno' he said. In session one, a 10.168 on 10.40 index placed him twenty first. |
Stock/Super Stock racer Leif Lindmann is qualified fifteenth with 11.827 on a 12.30 index. His '64 Plymouth Sportfury was built in 2012 and has a 383cu in engine overbored by 0.60", CP pistons, Magnafuel fuel pump, Protrans gearbox, and Strange S60 5.38 rear axle. |
