Top Fuel Dragster racer Jari Halinen is pictured with Jimmy Walsh who has joined the crew once again. Before round one Jari said 'The car ran consistently in qualifying and we hope to repeat against Micke'. Jari however went up in smoke on the launch to lose out. Jimmy, who is crew chief for NHRA racer Clay Millican, said 'The track here is one of the best in the world and I like the racing, teams are not too hard on their parts'.

Top Fuel Dragster racer Stig Neergaard withdrew from final qualifying in a dispute with race officials over his running place in the session. In round one his car crossed the centre line and the correction caused it to go up on its left wheels, almost going over before grazing the wall with his right rear slick.

Super Street Bike racer Alex Hope won in round one against Pelle Lakmaker, with a 7.39/317. He said 'The wind looks as though it is directed left to right but along the track it was the other way. When I get past the grandstands and sound wall it is just at the eighth and that is an issue to keep straight'.

Super Street Bike racer Rick Stubbins won against Niclas Johansson. He said 'Due to the conditions I put in the softest possible settings and had to pedal in the wind. I kept looking at the left lane to check I was still ahead of him. The wind was whipping one way and then the other. Bikes with fairings like Pro Stock and us have the most problems. We just have to work out what we need to do to get through'.

Stock/Super Stock racer and Eurodragster.com sponsor Nic Williams won his round one race against Rick McCann. Carl Pittau said 'A well deserved win went to Nic, who ran a better race than us. We'll get him next time but in the meantime we wish him the best of luck in the next rounds of eliminations and in the final'.

Pro Modified racer Bruno Bader ran his best of the weekend in a round one bye, 6.048/361. He said 'It was my first clean run of the event. I wanted to run well to get lane choice over Mats and we set the car up for the right lane, although both are good. We have had problems including getting a new power grid because the rev limiter and shift light were malfuncioning and thanks to Stig Olsson for supplying one'.

Pro Modified racer Roger Johansson was servicing the engine routinely. He said 'Our tyres shook bad in round one and I was liucky Freddy red-lit. The flame out of the left side exhaust was from when I pedaled'. He faces Robert Joosten in round two.

Pro Modified racer Micke Gullqvist had some problems in qualifying. He said 'When you get new parts they get you in trouble. We have had mainly new driveline and clutch parts. The conditions on Friday were very good, better than I have ever seen here. We had to figure out how to get down the track'. In round one he ran a 5.844, the first half of a new European ET record.

Pro Modified racer Tero Laukkanen ran a 5.994 in round one to defeat Johan Westberg. He said 'At 350m, the rear tyres left the surface and the revs went right up, doing some valve damage. So we have to change an engine with only an hour to go'. The delays caused by on track incidents should give him sufficient time to make the call for round two.

Top Fuel Dragster racer Anita Mäkelä suffered her second fire of the weekend on a 3.923/474 to defeat Björn Mårtensson. She said 'It was pulling very hard and then something happened. The fire came into the cockpit. The fire crew were very professional, I saw where they were and drove up to them. I felt some heat but we don't know the extent of the damage'.

Pro Modified racer Mats Ericsson qualified no.3 with 6.00 and faces Andreas Arthursson in round one. He said 'On the first run on Friday I had tyre shake immediately and pedalled but could see from the graph that it was not far from a good run. So we left it and the track came to us for the next run which was the 6.004. Today it was difficult to figure the track after the rain and we had some tyre shake so I short shor shifted. I knew I would still be near the top however Roger Johansson took our second spot by running only five thousandths better. We have 600mm less overhang at the front than we are allowed and that makes the ET slightly slower'.

Pro Modified racer Ubbe Johansson is racing for Team Veidec whose chief Mats Jonsson is here. Ubbe said 'We have run TD for three years and changed the blower this year although it is still a roots type Kobelco M5. The car, a '53 'Vette, was built by Tim McAmis and I am helping get it run for another driver we will announce later. My '63 'Vette PM car is still at home and plan to run in August, but it's a busy time for me as I have bought another company'. He qualified 16th with a 4.16 in the clutch car and lost in round one to Adam Flamholc.

Pro Modified racer Anders Nilsson qualified fifth with a 6.09 and faces Åke Persson in round one. He said of his ex-Troy Critchley car 'It's a good car and we found some points to improve. We don't have many new parts but have done a lot of clutch and chassis work. We hope to go quicker as more power is available and are planning how quick we want to be'.

Pro Stock Bike racer Anders Larsson was delighted to qualify second with a 7.071 after a long gap. He said 'My previous best was 7.26, I bought this Kosman framed bike in 2012 and made four passes on it and then took three years off. This is only my fourth pass in eight years.' Anders' engine is an ex-Gary Stauffer V&H item bought from Fredrik Fredlund.

Top Fuel Bike racer Jan Sturla Hegre ran a 7.01 to go third. He said 'We are struggling with dropping a cylinder from the line and the bike has broken four blower belts. We have adjusted and it now shows a nice smooth curve on the computer. I went very close to the wall and waited for the bang but it turned away at the last moment. We can see how close from the camera on the bike and I have had to check my boots for wear. Our engine is a Puma with Vortech blower and we are waiting for a CNC modified head that is more free flowing. We also suffered head problems and at the last race it split into two as a result of using a Yamaha chain tensioner rather than Kawasaki. We now run with our old head and we will fit a new one once we have solved the other problems'.

The Speedgroup Best Appearing Bike team award was presented by Tierp Arena owner Cemoni Ohlsson's daughter Regina Clasen to Super Twin racer Per Bengtsson.

Per Bengtsson's team were delighted to win their best appearing team award. From left to right, crew members are Eric Frank, L-O Jonsson and tuner Lars Putte Tydinger.

The Speedgroup Best Appearing Car team award went to Johan Westberg. He said 'We only received our team shirts on Monday so they have proved themselves immediately'. Johan's best time of 6.98/227 placed him 13th in the ladder and he faces Tero Laukkanen in round one.
