FIA Top Fuel Dragster final
Thomas Nataas 3.9822/494.05 def. Anita Mäkelä 4.0277/470.38
Per and Karsten had the car lined up for the left lane but moved to the right lane after the Pro Mod final.
Then drama as Anita's motor popped and banged on start-up as if the plug leads were not in the right place.
Frantic work by Anita's team and then fired up whilst Thomas pulled his burnout then a short burnout by Anita
and the quickest return and preparation I think I have ever seen from a Top Fuel team. Thomas away first
0.1020 to 0.1179, the quicker sixty 0.8818 to 0.8999, Anita faster at 330 feet in 2.2460/302.69 but Thomas quicker
at 2.2390/300.50, Anita to the eighth at 3.2091/424.19 to Thomas' 3.1888 at a huge 432.35 (270.51 mph). Smoke from Anita's
motor just before the stripe and big clean-up in her lane from that point. Thomas' 3.965 from earlier today backed up as a
new European ET record and although the 494.05 just falls short of backing up his earlier 499.08 - by 0.04 kmh! - the 494.05,
which equates to 306.99 mph, is backed up for a new European speed record. Well done Thomas, Per, Karsten and team!

FIA Pro Modified final
Micke Gullqvist 5.8744/401.19 def. Mattias Wulcan 6.2351/341.77
Very short burnout for Micke and he was on and off the throttle even then. Imperious performance from Micke,
away first 0.0895 to 0.1326, Mattias had the quicker sixty 1.0055 to 1.0077 but Micke was pulling away at the
eighth 3.8924/316.34 to Mattias' 3.9547/286.78 as Mattias shut it off early - nothing visibly wrong.
16:30
FIA Top Methanol Funny Car final
Adam Flamholc 5.5203/423.86 bye, Leif Andréasson shut off
Leif's team had the FC body up on his return from the burnout and then Leif shut off. Adam took the bye, 0.9632 to
sixty and 3.6539/338.56 at the eighth, straight clean run.
16:30
FIA Pro Stock final
Jimmy Ålund 6.5580/341.99 def. Thomas Lindström no time
Thomas away first 0.0532 to Jimmy's 0.0669, Jimmy had the better sixty 0.9896 to 1.0226 but Thomas hit bad shake which he tried
to drive out but his car made a hard right and got quite close to the guardrail and he shut it off. 4.2327/271.11 to the eighth
for Jimmy.

16:15
FIA Top Methanol Dragster final
Jonny Lagg 5.5972/417.63 def. Paul Ingar Udtian 6.2085/362.66
Great start to Jonny's TMD career. Paul Ingar got away first 0.0156 to 0.0899 but his tyres started
to go up in smoke as the front of the car got to sixty feet 1.0353. Jonny to sixty in 1.0183 and going
great guns to the eighth 3.7437/344.17 to Paul Ingar's up in smoke and out of shape and pedalled 4.1369/302.35.

Micke's Camaro made a move left and right about 100 feet out and was heading slowly for the centre line all the
way. 3.8940/315.42 to the eighth for Micke and 3.9381/305.78 for Robert, the win for Micke but Robert into the
fives, well done Robert and team!

Adam Flamholc 5.5435/421.55 def. Jonnie Lindberg 5.6205/428.23
Adam visibly moved first 0.0466 to Jonnie's 0.1395 and his car bounced up and down once at the hit. Jonnie to sixty in 0.9549 to
Adam's 0.9631 but then Jonnie hit shake and had to pedal as the FC moved to the right. Adam was visibly in the lead at the

14:10
FIA Top Fuel Dragster eliminations round 2
Anita Mäkelä 3.9909/488.25 bye, Jari Halinen shut off
No reverse for Jari, had to be pushed back after his burnout. Team really rushed to get the car back and ready so as not to keep
Anita waiting but then another problem getting drive before staging and signalled the starter that they were done. Anita took
the bye, 0.8912 to sixty, 2.2299/304.91 to 330 feet, 3.1884/426.20 at the eighth with all candles lit and clearly
visible even in this strong sunshine. Anita's third consecutive three-second run.

Stig away first 0.0858 to 0.1131 and had the better sixty 0.8743 to 0.8911. Stig still with the advantage at 330 feet 2.2244/299.83 to
Thomas' 2.2834/305.26 but Thomas was clawing it back by the eighth at 3.1707 at a huge 435.84 (270.82 mph) to Stig's 3.1957/420.89. Then a puff
of smoke from Stig's motor and he shut it off, blower belt maybe, either way Thomas completed the job. Thomas now on European ET and speed records,
Thomas' 499.08 the fastest speed recorded since we went to 1000 feet and equates to 310.11 mph, well done Thomas, Per, Karsten and the guys!

Adam Flamholc 5.6522/416.67 def. Danny Bellio 5.6679/409.40
Adam changed lanes from as the clean-up started from Urs' oildown, but surprisingly he changed lanes away from the freshly-cleaned
lane. Danny's burnout at much higher revs than Adam's, different set-up I guess. Adam visibly away first 0.1476 to 0.3881 and the
better sixty 0.9495 to 0.9618, someone - I think Danny - had a very brief bout of shake but neither pedalled.
Danny had the better eighth 3.7433/327.67 to Adam's 3.7457/330.68. 0.0157 in it at the

Ulf Leanders 5.7215/415.38 def. Micke Larsson no time DQ
Micke rolled through stage going up on the revs. 0.9817 to sixty for Ulf and then shake and what looked like two pedals,
the FC moved left and right but Ulf stayed on it. 3.8203/331.09 at the eighth.
Jonnie Lindberg 5.6299/429.94 def. Johan Lindberg 5.5855/423.53
Brother v brother, top v bottom qualifiers. Jonnie won this one on a 0.0727 to 0.1329 holeshot. 0.9542 to sixty for Jonnie and
0.9519 for Johan, both sounded to pedal for shake just past the Tree, Johan's car made a small move to the right but didn't seem to
lose any momentum. Johan had the much better eighth 3.7172/336.45 to 3.7868/358.13 but Jonnie's RT advantage won the day.

and well ahead at the eighth 3.2286 at a huge 422.87 to Antti's 3.2984/407.55. Some smoke from Antti's motor at the stripe.
Thomas Nataas 4.0072/489.57 def. Patrik Pers 4.0632/477.88
Another fantastic race. Patrik away first 0.1456 to 0.1012 and had the better sixty 0.8865 to Thomas' 0.8879 but Thomas
started to take it back by 330 feet 2.2428/297.85 to Patrik's 2.2557/295.24. Thomas well ahead at the eighth 3.2070
at a huge 427.89 to Patrik's 3.2423/413.79. Patrik looked to shut off just a touch early and the chutes were out on
the stripe. Thomas does the first half of a European ET record, well done Per, Karsten, Thomas and the guys! New PB
for Patrik.
Stig Neergaard 3.9590/468.75 def. Chris Andrews 4.1538/474.10
Fantastic race III and Stig now also on a European ET record. Chris got a visible jump off the line 0.0646 to 0.1261
but Stig had the better sixty 0.8666 to 0.9081 and a much better 330 at 2.1933/305.78 (190.00 mph) to Chris' 2.3407/286.47.
Stig comfortably ahead at the eighth 3.1503/425.53 to Chris' 3.3303/416.99, Stig looked to shut it off a touch
earlier than Chris.
Anita Mäkelä 3.9683/484.30 def. Urs Erbacher 4.2463/437.96
Anita's idle very high on the way back from the burnout but one of the crew sprinted to adjust it.
Eurodragster.com sponsor Urs staged deep and he visibly moved first 0.0555 to Anita's 0.2274 but
that's the last say he had in the matter as Anita was on the ride of her life. 0.8767 to sixty to Urs'
0.9534, Anita had the much better 330 foot at 2.2141 at a big 304.74 to Urs' 2.3318/294.28,
3.1662/430.28 at the eighth to Urs' 3.3542/387.10 and then a ball of flame from Urs' motor right on
the eighth. Anita's run is a new European ET record backed up by her qualifying run, well done Anita,
Laganas and team!
I am thinking that this must have been the quickest first round of Top Fuel which we have had since we changed to 1000 feet.

FIA Pro Modified eliminations round 1
Tero Laukkanen 6.2178/397.06 def. Patrik Wikström 6.5935/360.48
Tero in as an alternate for David Vegter so a chance to make good on that new speed record. 250-foot burnout by Patrik.
Patrik away first 0.1742 to 0.2626, Tero had the better sixty 1.0431 to 1.1423, Patrik sounded to be driving through the
clutch. Tero with the advantage at the eighth 4.1793/300.67 to 4.3871/284.21 and the car was visibly accelerating hard
in the second eighth. Speed record backed up, well done Tero!
Robert Joosten 6.1612/378.42 def. Johan Westberg 6.5044/355.73
Johan was not staged straight but got the jump 0.0609 to 0.1175 but Robert was soon making that up with a 0.9854
sixty to Johan's 1.0989. Robert way ahead at the eighth 4.0445/292.21 to 4.2611/280.81, Johan just plan outrun
in this one.
Roger Johansson 6.2864/320.67 def. Benny Strand 10.5801/149.96
Benny away first 0.1277 to 0.1832, got to sixty in 1.0505 but his tyres were already shaking and he sounded to have
some kind of transmission problem, off the gas not far off sixty feet. 1.0151 to sixty for Roger, 4.0500/293.96 at the
eighth, looked and sounded to shut it off a touch early - I guess he realised Benny was not there.
Urban Johansson 6.1901/368.60 def. Marc Meihuizen 6.1952/375.00
Norbert Kuno's motor did not start and he was pushed away, Urban in as alternate. Urban away first 0.0784 to 0.1206
and had the better sixty 0.9918 to 1.0061. Marc had the better eighth 4.0446/287.39 to Urban's 4.0810/296.54
and Urban's 'Vette was moving around its lane some but Urban hung on to it and took the stripe.
Niclas Andersson 5.9925/377.09 def. Håkan Persson 6.1398/376.83
Niclas has been promising the five and there it was, congratulations Niclas and team! Håkan got away first 0.0783 to 0.1035 but Niclas was
visibly catching him even by 60 feet 0.9884 to 1.0089. Niclas to the eighth in a very rapid 3.9158/306.30 to
Håkan's 4.0405/299.83 which is by no means slow.
Mattias Wulcan 5.9524/395.08 def. Mats Eriksson 9.8064/41.30
Imperious form from Mattias in this one. Away first 0.0716 to Mats' 0.1238, 1.0344 sixty to Mats' 1.2419 with bad shake,
so bad that the car started to bounce up and down and then turned hard left and Mats shut it off. 3.9421/311.60 to
the eighth for Mattias and through to meet the winner of the next race.
Tami Brander 6.0751/373.19 def. Freddy Fagerström 6.4847/340.48
The lights ran very quickly indeed after both staged, I think that took both drivers by surprise judging by the RTs of
0.5469 for Freddy and 0.3466 for Tami. Tami had the better sixty 0.9881 to 1.0245 and was well ahead at the eighth 3.9547/298.51 to
4.1884/279.50. Nothing visibly wrong for Freddy although the track crew looked to be picking up small pieces about 100 feet out.
Micke Gullqvist 5.8972/397.35 def. Anders Nilsson 6.2882/373.70
Micke's first chance to back up yesterday's ET and speed records, ET record backed up - well done Micke! - but Tero's speed record
is faster so that stands. Anders visibly away first 0.0793 to 0.1801 and the better sixty 0.9811 to Micke's 0.9956 but Micke's car
did the usual squatting down and going thing about 300 feet out and he had the advantage at the eighth
3.8991/313.77 to 4.1557/292.52.

Good morning and welcome from Tierp Arena for our coverage of the Scandinavian Internationals brought to you in association with
Alamo Rent-A-Car.
Our friends at Smart TV are providing the webcast for this event; you can tune in to today's events for €5.
For more details check out www.smarttv.se.
It's another beautiful day. Even though Meatloaf is playing on the PA (don't have to specify the song, his stuff is all the same)
nothing can sour my mood. I can't see a single cloud anywhere in the sky and the flags around the arena are all hanging limp. Going
to be a scorcher I think.
The traditional Raceday Good Morning to our US Correspondents Ed O'Connell and Kathy Hileman who are tuned in from Rye, NH.
Good to hear that you are enjoying the coverage guys and make sure that you continue to Bess it for the rest of the weekend.
A big Hello also to the Eurodragsterholics around the world including Markus Münch and Herb Andrews who have been in touch.
It was a frenetic day yesterday with records set and pending, here's how things stand on the record front.
Records set and backed up:
- Top Methanol Funny Car ET: 5.437 seconds, Jonnie Lindberg
- Top Methanol Funny Car speed: 432.69 kmh / 268.86 mph, Jonnie Lindberg (this is also a world record)
- Pro Stock ET: 6.534 seconds, Jimmy Ålund
- Pro Stock speed: 343.29 kmh / 213.31 mph, Jimmy Ålund
The Bump Spot record for an eight-car Pro Stock field was also reset yesterday and now stands at 6.797 seconds; thanks to Andy Marrs
for getting in touch to verify that.
Records pending:
- Top Fuel Dragster ET: 3.974 seconds, Anita Mäkelä
- Pro Modified ET: 5.872 seconds, Micke Gullqvist
- Pro Modified speed: 399.70 kmh / 248.36 mph, Micke Gullqvist
An interesting situation with the Pro Modified speed record is that Tero Laukkanen was also on a speed record of 400.59 kmh / 248.92 mph but
he did not qualify for the FIA elimination. However Tero is first alternate and we know that we won't be seeing David Vegter in FIA eliminations
this morning which opens the door for Tero to come back in and maybe back that record up.
We are due to start at 09:15 with the first round of the Nordic Supertwin Challenge and then the first round of FIA Pro Modified
followed by the opening ceremony. Today's provisional running order, courtesy of Race Director Tomas Pettersson, is available via
the Event Index page. Stay in touch and when the first pair fires up we'll bring you the news.
