Stay tuned as we still have today's pictures for you. We will likely post those back at base
so give us a couple of hours.

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car final
Leif Andréasson 5.5607/416.35 def. Danny Bellio 5.9171/397.94
Leif in imperious form. More than visible 0.0406 to 0.2119 start line advantage, the much better
sixty foot 0.9299 to 1.0087 to sixty. Looked like Danny was driving through shake, a pedal,
Leif long gone at the eighth 3.6594/330.88 to Danny's far from shabby 3.9124/313.95. No chutes
for Danny at the top end, the front of the car dug into the kitty litter at the end of the track and the FC flipped.
Safety crews were there as soon as Leif was safely out of the way. Recovery
quite rapid so hopefully no harm done.

19:40
FIA Pro Modified eliminations round 3
Micke Gullvist 5.9885/393.87 def. Johan Lindberg 8.4520/176.76
Johan away first 0.0569 to 0.0761, but his tyres started to smoke pretty much at the hit, 1.1266 to
sixty and the Firebird turned hard right by the Tree with the left tyre smoking. Johan pedalled
and gave it another go but was off it well before the eighth. 0.9789 to sixty for Micke and another
storming eighth mile 3.9613/307.69.
Niclas Andersson 10.3882/133.53 bye, Urban Johansson no show

Per Bengtsson 6.4037/363.88 def. Jan Sturla Hegre no time
Jan Sturla away first 0.0456 to 0.1628, 1.2146 to sixty feet by which time
there had been a huge bang and ball of flame from his motor. 1.1771 to sixty for
Per, straight as you like, 4.2669/299.17 at the eighth, you could tell this was
a special one. Would you believe 0.24 kmh too fast to be a new speed record,
but this run backs up Per's 360.00 in qualifying for a new European speed record,
and the first half of a European ET record. Well done Per!
Nate Gagnon 6.4489/360.48 def. Christian Jäger 7.8492/280.81

at the eighth, on the throttle all the way. New PB I believe, well done Ian!
19:20
FIA Pro Stock eliminations round 2
Jimmy Ålund 6.7666/333.75 def. Mats Jacobsson 6.9258/325.50
Cracking 0.0066 RT for Jimmy to Mats' 0.0516, 1.0167 to sixty to Mats' 1.0298. Jimmy's new Camaro
started to move to the left and I feared his shiny new car may scrape the guardrail but Jimmy had
it covered. 4.3785/263.54 to the eighth for Jimmy to Mats' 4.4667/255.44, Mats' car moved to the
right in the second half but he pulled it back to the middle of the lane.

Chris away first 0.0800 to 0.1306, at least one cylinder out on the right side from the hit. 1.0248 to
sixty for Chris and 1.1360 for Manty betraying tyre spin, then a puff of smoke from the tyres and the Mr
Whippy dragster turned to the right, Manty shut it off. 3.8158/226.45 to the eighth for Chris and into his
first final.
Dave Wilson 5.2605/435.13 def. Peter Schöfer 6.1850/290.95
Deep stage for Peter and a -0.0153 red handing it to Grumpy. 0.9494 to sixty for Grumpy,
storming eighth 3.5148/370.12, smoke from the right bank in the second half similarly
to Grumpy's last qualifying pass and it did no harm on that run so I am guessing the
same here as Grumpy does the first half of a new European ET record, well done Grumpy!
19:00

corrected about 200 feet out. 3.7003/330.68 to the eighth and straight as you like in the second half.
Well done Leif!
18:55
FIA Top Finland Fuel Dragster eliminations round 2
Jari Halinen 5.7415/205.56 def. Antti Hortto 6.2821/166.05
Team members Gary and Ian gave Jari's car a big shove from quite far back to get it into the bleach box,
very impressive as the car made it. Jari away first 0.0948 to 0.1286, Antti with the better sixty 0.8959
to 0.9258. Antti's tyres went up in smoke and a moment later so did Jari's. Both of them off the throttle,
Jari realised that he couldn't hear Antti's motor and got back on the gas, from here it looked from the car's
body language as if Jari's blower belt came off and then it was a race of momentum to the stripe. 4.1869/195.58 at the
eighth for Antti to Jari's quicker and faster 4.0470/241.72, and that got Jari there first.

and then so did Risto's. Anita pedalled and there was a bang and flash of flame from her motor, that was
her race done. Risto pedalled and hammered it again, big advantage by the eighth 3.6712/380.32 to Anita's
rolling 4.4189/188.55.
18:35
Now we have rain at the start line. Quite light, though, and the sun is already shining so it'll pass.

Stay tuned.
17:50
Malta's Tommy Agius followed Pro Mod with a demonstration pass in the Maksar truck. Great burnout
but shut off for a fluid leak.

0.9929 to sixty for Gullan to Martin's 1.0915,
Martin looked to drive through shake and had lost time by the eighth 4.2574/293.48 to Gullan's

Johan Lindberg 6.0398/359.04 def. Bruno Bader 6.1477/367.10 DQ
-0.3330 red light for Bruno handed it to Johan although that would have been one tough run to beat.
0.9808 to sixty for Johan, the Firebird swaying left and right, 3.9908/308.04 at the eighth.
Urban Johansson 6.2157/no speed bye, Ola Dahlblom shut off
Eurodragster.com sponsor Graham Ellis tells us that the motor including blower in Ola's car came from
him, the blower was on Graham's car for a 6.07 pass. Ola shut off after his burnout, out of the car and over
the guardrail. 0.9638 to sixty for Urban, the back of the car squatted down and he was off and running.
3.9601/296.54 at the eighth but then the motor hesitated very slightly, possibly presaging the smoke and a
bang at about 1100 feet. No speed displayed. Track checked and found to be OK.
Niclas Andersson 6.0680/372.93 def. Robert Joosten 6.2115/376.83
Staging duel, Robert in first, then Niclas away first 0.0581 to 0.0677.
Better sixty for Robert 1.0077 to 1.0133, looked to be driving through a little

Big holeshot for Christian 0.0404 to 0.2293, Job better to sixty feet 1.1165 to 1.1627 but
Job's motor started to quit and he was off it before the eighth 5.5120/195.02. Something

as he surged ahead.

Micke rolled through stage and then hit the throttle.
0.9495 to sixty for Leif and then shut off, I guess he saw the red light and/or I guess he saw what
happened next as Micke's FC drifted to the left under full throttle and sideswiped the guardrail
about 300 feet out. Pieces of either advertising board or FC body were strewn across the track as
the car hit the rail. Micke stayed under power and drove it away from the rail.

times then got off the gas. 3.9385/316.72 to the eighth for Danny to Jonnie's shut off
5.3739/185.63.

FIA Top Fuel Dragster eliminations round 1
Antti Hortto 4.3111/426.54 def. Chris Andrews 8.8044/126.20
Antti visibly away first 0.1310 to 0.2758 and the better sixty 0.8979 to 0.9183. Chris shut it off
just after sixty feet, nothing visibly wrong, 5.8145/123.97 at the eighth by which time Antti was
long gone having got to the eighth in 3.3797/366.85. Looked like cylinders out for Antti after the
eighth.
Jari Halinen 4.1399/468.75 def. Micke Kågered 5.2263/229.49
Jari visibly moved first 0.1280 to 0.1100, 0.9263 to sixty to Micke's 0.9799. The cars looked glued together
until about 300 feet, then Micke's header flames went out and the left side of the motor started to smoke.
2.4451 to 330 feet for Micke to Jari's 2.3161. Micke coasting at the eighth 3.7094/270.41, Jari well on his
way 3.3051/410.96.
Risto Poutiainen 4.1381/459.57 def. Håkan Fällström 6.7528/152.59
Risto just away first 0.1107 to 0.1115. Quicker sixty for Håkan 0.9043 to 0.9154. About
250 feet out there was a bang and a huge sheet of flame from Håkan's motor and the blower belt
came off as the car made a violent twitch. 2.3083 to 330 feet for Risto to Håkan's
slowing 2.5358, storming 3.2947/411.59 eighth for Risto to Håkan's 4.4593/177.51. The safety
crews were right with Håkan as he stopped on the shutdown area.
Anita Mäkelä no time def. Janne Ahonen 4.1296/419.91 DQ
Finland v Finland in this race. Janne looked to leave almost as soon as the lights ran, -0.2618
up on the screen. 0.1367 RT for Anita, 0.9010 to sixty, shut off before 330 feet 2.5934.
No eighth time or speed and 3.8906 came up as Anita's ET which was plainly incorrect as she
had shut off by 330 feet, it turned out that Janne passing very close to the line had dislodged
the finish line reflector.
16:00
There's going to be a mad rush to get pairs through so you'll have to forgive us if we
don't give you all the incrementls every time. As ever, we will do our best.
FIA Pro Modified eliminations round 1
Martin Lundkvist 6.3476/385.16 def. Marc Meihuizen 6.2326/374.74
Holeshot win for the turbo car, 0.1157 to 0.4684. Marc's incrementals were better all the way,
1.0385 to 1.0891 sixty foot and 4.1070/293.80 at the eighth to Martin's 4.1844/305.08. Marc took
the long way round getting close to the centre line aboutr 300 feet out but the RT difference
won it for Martin.
Johan Lindberg 6.0417/389.33 def. Mats Eriksson 6.5169/373.19
Big jump off the line for Mats 0.1283 to 0.4197, 1.0831 to sixty whilst Johan started to make
up the lost time with a 0.9899. Mats hit shake and the Crown Victoria made a violent move to the
right and Mats had to pedal. No such problems for Johan, straight run, 4.0059/307.69 to the eighth
to 4.3463/281.10.
Bruno Bader 7.6879/329.87 def. Anders Nilsson 6.4231/368.10 DQ
Emphatic gesture into stage for both from Chief Starter Nettan, we're not hanging about in these conditions.
Bruno in stage a long time before Anders came in.
-0.0335 red light for Anders handed it to Bruno who lucked out as he hit bad shake and the Vette turned
hard left and headed for the centre line. 1.2552 to sixty feet, 5.3923/270.68 at th eeighth shows the time lost to
pedalling and pulling it straight.
Urban Johansson 6.2604/370.62 def. Fredrik Lundh 6.6271/344.83
Visible holeshot for Fredrik 0.2239 to 0.3992, 1.0774 to sixty to 1.0061 for Urban.
Fredrik's car looked to take a step to the left and he pedalled, Urban's 'Vette
moved around a little but he stayed with it. 4.1197/291.58 to the eighth for Urban
to Fredrik's 4.3196/271.22.
Ola Dahlblom 6.0793/376.83 def. Mattias Wulcan 10.3047/137.47
Mattias in as an alternate for Tami Brander. Ola away first 0.2379 to 0.2547 and the
better sixty 0.9922 to Mattas' sound 1.0041. Mattias' motor zinged about 300 feet out
and there was smoke out of the headers, Mattias shut off. Storming 3.9749/300.17 at the eighth
for Ola and right on his PB I understand.
Robert Joosten 6.2683/373.96 def. Freddy Fagerström 9.7142/146.42
Freddy away first 0.1299 to 0.1441 and the better sixty 0.9918 to 1.0204. Robert's
Camaro started to make a move to the left but he stayed with it, Freddy's motor sounded
to zing and he was off it before the eighth. 4.1244/292.21 at the eighth for Robert to
Freddy's shut off 4.9414/163.64.
Niclas Andersson 6.0740/372.67 def. Jan Gunnarsson 7.1136/266.54
Niclas away first as is usually the case, 0.0813 to 0.1569. Advantage at sixty too, 1.0212 to 1.0603
then Jan hit shake which made the right side door open as the Badilac fishtailed. Jan eventually shut
it off just before the eighth 4.5396/270.54, Niclas straight down the middle of the lane 3.9734/302.86
at the eighth and into the next round.
Micke Gullqvist 6.0001/392.16 def. Marco Maurischat 6.4177/366.35
Micke on an ET record of 5.949 from qualifying and he wasn't mucking about here, backed it up with 0.0079 in it.
Eurodragster.com sponsor Marco's tyres didn't light in the burnout. Marco away first 0.1998 to 0.3270, 1.0289 to sixty but Gullan was on one 0.9755.
Marco hit shake about 100 feet out and the 'Vette started to make a move to the left, a pedal losing him
time to the eighth 4.2085/278.78 to Miekc's storming 3.9706/308.22. ET record backed up, well done Micke!

Pro Mods are ready to go, just got spots of rain in the air. Stay tuned.
15:05
We have Pro Mods in the pairing lanes! Eagle-eyed readers will spot alternates as we have lost a couple
of qualifiers.
Track drying is coming along well. The plan is to start with round one of Pro Modified, then
Top Fuel, Top Methanol FC, Top Methanol Dragster, Pro Stock, Top Fuel Bike, Supertwin, Pro Stock Bike,
round 2 of Pro Modified, then into round 2 of the other Pro classes.
Stay tuned.
14:05
Simon has posted today's first set of pit notes which you can check out via the Event Index.
13:55
Still raining but not quite as heavily. Everyone and everything have been deployed onto the track to get rid of the
surface water; the track now has more traffic on it than a Swedish motorway.
Those who know about such things are still optimistic that we can get some racing done. Stay tuned.
12:35
Still bloody raining.
In the meantime, further to yesterday's factoid about Anita Mäkelä's
330 foot speed, courtesy of the Time-Tree guys here are the fastest 330 foot speeds recorded in
Pro classes at this race. Let's be optimistic and say "So far":
Top Fuel Dragster: 298.67 kmh / 185.58 mph in 2.3471 seconds, Anita Mäkelä
Top Methanol Dragster: 268.52 kmh / 166.85 mph in 2.3504 seconds, Manty Bugeja
Top Methanol FC: 252.10 kmh / 156.65 mph in 2.4745 seconds, Leif Andréasson
Pro Modified: 233.26 kmh / 144.94 mph in 2.6319 seconds, Terje Håkonsen
Pro Stock: 204.70 kmh / 127.19 mph in 2.8105 seconds, Jimmy Ålund
Top Fuel Bike: 243.68 kmh / 151.42 mph in 2.5914 secomds, Peter Svensson
Supertwin: 225.56 kmh / 140.16 mph in 3.0302 seconds, Per Bengtsson
Pro Stock Bike: 198.75 kmh / 123.50 mph in 2.9314 seconds, Fredrik Fredlund
These are of course average speeds through the speed trap between 264 feet and 330 feet so the
actual speeds would be slightly higher. Next time anyone tries to tell you that Formula 1 is the pinnacle
of motorsport quote the above back at them.
Stay tuned.
11:15
The rain is expected to stop early this afternoon. The organisers have secured an extended permit
from the local authorities so we are able to race until 22:00 this evening, and they are working
on a plan to suit.
