FIA Pro Mod ET record holder Adam Flamholc was hoping to lower the record possibly in the morning session with a cooler track, but felt that if the class has all four scheduled qualifying session this weekend the record should fall. Adam said the smoothness of the track could lower ET by 5 hundredths in the back half of a run.
A motor destroyed during a testing run at Malmo cost Pro Stock Bike racer Ulf Ogge a chance to compete at Santa Pod�s Main Event last month so he was looking forward a check out pass this morning on an engine received last Friday and installation just completed last night. He feels the current Pro Stock Motorcycle record will fall this weekend and is hoping to do well at what he now considers his home track, even though he recently worked out that Hockenheim is actually closer to his home than Tierp.
Pro Stock Bike racer Fredrik Fredlund was yet another racer to predict records will fall this weekend, observing that the track seem to be getting better as the meeting goes on. This is his first race at this facility having missed the earlier event due to damage to the bike at the Hungary meeting. He is running a new engine, a Vance and Hines 2 valve per cylinder. He currently has the fastest 4 valve engine and is shooting to have the fastest 2 valve by the end of this meeting.
Commenting on the decision to run Top Fuel to one thousand feet rather than a quarter mile, Stig Neergaard could understand the safety and possible cost and parts savings, but also felt his car was strongest at the back half of a run. Stig and son Kenni missed competing at the Main Event due to illness and both were feeling well although not 100% at this event. Stig was planning on running the same tune up from Gainesville which produced a 3.95 run right out of the trailer.
Australian Mark Ashelford competing In UEM Supertwin, has planned on competing in Europe for some time. So he shipped his racing operation in a 26 foot sea trailer, purchased a bus in Norway and is here competing after a second place finish recently at Gardermoen Raceway. Mark hope to compete again in Europe next year but with his brother Ian �Single� Ashelford. The brothers have the distinction of the only 6 second side by side pass by brothers in any class of Australian drag racing. Mark plans to compete in Finland and the Finals at Santa Pod.
