That's the end of our coverage of the Veidec Festival, thanks very much indeed for tuning in. Our next coverage will be a webcam broadcast from the UK Truck Show at Santa Pod Raceway on 19th-20th August and our next full race coverage will be from the Open Sports Nationals at Shakespeare County Raceway at the end of August.

This weekend's event coverage has been brought to you in association with American Car Imports.

16:00

FIA Top Fuel Dragster final:

Håkan Nilsson 4.913/483.28 def. Urs Erbacher no time

Håkan's first event win at only his third FIA European Championship race. Urs got the jump off the line 0.116 to 0.186, Håkan had the better sixty foot time 0.891 to Urs' 0.915, then there was a ball of flame from Urs' engine at about 400 feet and he was off the throttle, Håkan clocked 3.317/399.09 at half track and took the event title. No time in Urs' lane but a quick bit of maths by Yours Truly on the timing slip details calculated Urs' ET at 9.474.

15:40

15:35

FIM/UEM Pro Stock Bike final:

Michael deep-staged but Tommy still had the quicker reaction 0.139 to 0.163, Tommy had the better sixty foot 1.077 to 1.087 but Michael had reeled him in by half track 4.523 to Tommy's 4.626 and took the stripe by a comfortable 0.132.

Micke Gullquist 6.310/367.22 def. Gordon Appleton 6.369/358.48

Gordon was away first 0.087 to 0.134 and was quicker to sixty feet 1.020 to 1.059, Micke had the better half track 4.144 to Gordon's 4.147 and took the strip by 0.011 seconds and another European speed record, well done Gullan!

Micke visibly left first 0.115 to 0.125, Urban had the quicker sixty foot 1.024 to 1.055 and half track at 4.138 to Micke's 4.125, there was a little puff of smoke from Micke's Chevy at about 1000 feet and he put the chute out, Urban got to the stripe first.

13:50

FIM/UEM Pro Stock Bike eliminations round 2:

Anders Abrahamsson 7.432/287.13 bye

Tom Tinndahn DQ'd and Paul Watson not getting a green in the previous round meant that Anders got a bye into the final, looking for lane choice with a great pass.

Martin Bishop 7.610/315.07 def. Orjan Gustavsson 7.667/275.01

A great race, Orjan got away first and from here looked to be ahead but Martin squeaked it at the finish line. As great a racer Martin is I am not sure about that terminal speed which is just under 200 mph and 14 kmh above the existing record.

13:45

FIM/UEM Supertwin eliminations round 2:

Ronny Aasen 6.783/338.44 def. Per Bengtsson 6.727/303.38

Ronny won this on the start line with a 0.080 reaction to Per's 0.215. Ronny's front wheel stayed aloft to half track and then there were a few puffs of smoke from the bike in the second half of the track. Per shut off a short way before the finish.

Lorenz Stäuble 6.868/320.35 def. Ulf Nylen 14.407/104.96

Ulf told Simon that he had no second gear so would shut off at about half track and he did exactly that. A great run for Lo with a big puff of smoke as his front wheel came down. 1.151 to sixty feet, 4.446/267.34 at half track and into the final where Ronny has lane choice.

13:40

FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike eliminations round 2:

Rickard Gustavsson 8.121/191.66 def. Eric Teboul no time

It couldn't happen again, could it? Eric's rear slick went up in smoke at the hit and the engine cut out, Rickard clocked 1.171 to sixty feet, 4.706/240.74 to half track and backed off probably when he realised he couldn't hear Eric. That's one Funny Bike through to the final.

Peter Ström 7.627/279.84 def. Kai Selkamaa no time

Kai shut off by the Tree, Peter got very close indeed to the guardrail in the second half of the track and you could hear him feathering the throttle as he pulled it away. It's a Top Fuel Bike v Funny Bike final.

13:30

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car eliminations round 2:

Jörgen Johnsson 5.831/393.50 def. Dan Larsen 5.960/365.77

One of Dan's crew went running to the Boxter FC just before Dan staged, but having checked out whatever was bothering him turned away patting his chest in a gesture of relief so everything obviously OK. Jörgen is on a mission this weekend, 0.026 reaction to Dan's 0.146, Dan had the better sixty foot time but his FC started to bounce around and looked to have all four wheels off a couple of times but he stayed with it, Jörgen pulled ahead whilst Dan was on the trampoline.

Leif Andrésson 5.904/391.33 def. Ulf Leanders 5.856/391.14

Two big burnouts, Leif to 200 feet and I couldn't see how far Ulf went through Leif's smoke! Leif strapped a 0.113 to 0.206 holeshot on Ulf, all of Ulf's incrementals were better but he couldn't quite make up the start line advantage.

13:25

FIA Top Methanol Dragster eliminations round 2:

Dave Wilson 5.496/411.73 bye

Grumpy could have taken this gently but didn't, going for lane choice I guess. 0.931 to sixty feet, 3.594/335.73 to half track.

Peter Schöfer 5.469/416.85 def. Rob Turner 5.785/371.02

Grumpy didn't get the lane choice as Peter pulled out the big one right when it mattered, 0.902 to sixty feet to Rob's 0.918, 3.582/335.41 to half track to Rob's 3.719/310.95, taking the win by 0.213. Rob had a little shake up to about 100 feet.

13:10

FIA Top Fuel Dragster eliminations round 2:

Håkan Nilsson 4.930/480.05 def. Thomas Nataas 6.287/235.12

Håkan was in front at the start, 0.166 reaction to 0.193 for Thomas, 0.887 to sixty feet to Thomas' 0.878, Thomas had to pedal a couple of times which is evidenced by the 3.331 to 3.607 half track times in Håkan's favour, Thomas was off the throttle at half track, Håkan too the stripe by 1.383 seconds with the tyres hazing. A new PB speed for Håkan after his best ET earlier, just a touch under 300 mph.

Urs Erbacher 5.686/351.26 def. Tommi Haapanen 10.224/136.66 red light

Another languid burnout for Tommi, tyres hardly hazing, but it's not hurt him yet. Tommi pulled a 0.189 red light handing the win to Urs who had a cylinder out on each side all the way, Sharkman at trackside reported pieces of blower belt shedding as Urs came past him at 300 feet, Urs had pedalled once at that point. Tommi shut off at about 200 feet.

12:15

FIA Pro Modified eliminations round 2:

Micke Gullquist 6.301/365.87 def. Freddy Fagerström 6.368/353.70

Freddy burned out to half track and then rolled almost to the finish line, Gullan's burnout was no slouch easily to 400 feet. But guess what - Freddy got back first. A cracking race, it was impossible to tell who had won until the result came up on the display. Freddy away first 0.123 to 0.140, he had the quicker sixty foot time at 1.014 to Gullan's 1.046, one hundredth advantage at half track but Gullan passed him for a 0.050 win and backed up his European speed record from yesterday, well done Gullan!

Gordon Appleton 6.429/354.91 def. Andy Robinson 6.329/369.20 DQ

This race guaranteed an Englishman in the semis, Andy was away first 0.145 to 0.200, Gordon had the better sixty foot time 1.048 to 1.084 but Andy was two hundredths ahead at half track and took the stripe by 0.155. Andy was then disqualified for a push start so Gordon goes through to the next round.

Urban Johansson 6.290/362.13 def. Jan Arve Nygård 6.578/297.75

Jan Arve's run was no slouch but there was daylight between the two 'Vettes, 0.336 at the stripe, the first ever 6.2-second Pro Mod run in Sweden and a new track record for Urban, well done Urban!

Micke Lindahl 6.379/353.25 def. Roger Johansson 6.676/305.62

Roger away first 0.042 to 0.079, and the quicker sixty foot 1.045 to 1.064, but Micke pulled past him before half track and took the win by 0.260.

11:55

FIA Pro Stock eliminations round 1:

Tommy Leindahl 7.074/315.24 def. Eero Knihtilä 7.095/317.57 red light

Eero with lane choice swapped lanes moments before the signal to start up, the second racer today to move to the right lane at the last moment. Eero then handed the race to Tommy with a not-even-close 0.354 red light. A straight clean pass for Tommy after yesterday's acrobatics.

Jimmy Ålund 6.956/318.85 def. Kenneth Söderström 9.669/142.50

Jimmy's better start was visible, 0.017 to 0.115, 1.033 to sixty feet to Kenneth's 1.059, Kenneth's Grand Am started to move around the lane and he shut off at about 400 feet handing the win to Jimmy.

Magnus Hansson 7.044/314.73 def. Peter Dahlin 7.429/250.70

Peter in as an alternate for Richard Sundblom who blew his motor to bits on Friday. Magnus was away first 0.071 to 0.199 and by about 300 feet was visibly pulling away from Peter, taking the stripe by 0.513.

Michael Malmgren 6.936/320.89 def. Jan Palmqvist 7.411/276.66

Jan was away first 0.129 to 0.194, Michael's sixty foot was 1.043 to 1.092, by half track Michael was a quarter of a second up and took the win by 0.409, Jan's Volvo made a big move towards the centre line at the top end.

11:40

FIM/UEM Pro Stock Bike eliminations round 1:

Anders Abrahamsson 7.498/281.84 def. Luigi Chinarello 7.750/275.55

This race was all Anders, leaving first 0.071 to 0.085 and taking the win by 0.265.

Tom Tinndahn 7.401/276.61 DQ, Paul Watson no time

Tom Tinndahn and Paul Watson faced off yet again after a number of qualifying passes together. Paul rolled through stage before the lights ran seemingly handing this one to Tom who clocked a cracking pass on the Buell. However Tom was then disqualified for reasons we haven't yet been give. Going by the rules this means that neither racer goes through to the next round.

Orjan Gustavsson 7.681/277.60 def. Anders Jakobsson 7.494/285.23

Orjan whacked Anders on the line 0.085 to 0.335 and maintained the advantage to take the stripe by 0.063 with a much slower ET.

Martin Bishop 7.658/278.48 bye, Anders Larsson no show

No sign of Anders so Martin took the bye and a very nice pass.

11:35

FIM/UEM Supertwin eliminations round 1:

Per Bengtsson 6.842/286.93 def. Svein Gottenberg 7.287/290.92

Svein visibly got away first 0.113 to 0.206 but his bike seemed to be hesitating a little then he shut off at about 900 feet, #1 qualifier Per's half track time was already 0.3 in his favour and he won by 0.346.

Ronny Aasen 6.883/330.44 def. Svein Olav Rolfstad 8.119/205.13

Ronny was out of the gate first 0.147 to 0.285, Svein Olav's bike just seemed to hesitate for a moment a few feet off the line. Ronny was off and running, the front tyre touched down right at the 594 foot mark, Svein Olav shut off at half track.

Lorenz Stäuble 7.408/225.09 def. Anders Karling 9.614/169.96

A great start for Lo, 0.074 to Charley's 0.185, almost immediately Charley's bike started to head for the centre line and he clicked it off at half track. There was a puff of smoke from Lo's bike just past half track and then he shut it off at about 1000 feet.

Ulf Nylen 7.481/242.24 def. Günther Sohn shut off

Günther shut off after his burnout, Ulf took the bye in his first competitive race on his new bike. Ulf was full on the throttle to half track, 4.470/245.45, and then feathered it in the second half and then shut off at about 1200 feet.

11:25

FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike eliminations round 1:

Rickard Gustavsson 7.063/296.70 def. Soren Hartvig 7.825/228.34

A 0.045 red light from Soren handed this one to Rickard, I am guessing Rickard realised he had won as he backed off early.

Eric Teboul 6.505/330.73 def. Luigi Ferretti 7.557/243.79

The #1 and #2 in the Championship face off, Luigi probably had an uncomfortable ride as greenish flame was coming from the cylinder head directly below his chest and he was leaning off the bike probably to stay away from it. Eric getting back to his Main Event form.

Kai Selkamaa 7.571/286.16 def. Mikael Andersson 8.246/253.15

Kai had Mikael covered very comfortably, half a second lead by half track and 0.652 at the stripe. From here Mikael's bike seemed very lazy.

Peter Ström 7.130/319.07 def. Shaun Branch 7.409/291.00

Shaun was away first 0.193 to 0.217, Peter had him covered by half track even though the bike was trying hard to cross into Shaun's lane, Peter took the win by 0.255.

11:15

FIA Top Methanol Funny Car eliminations round 1:

Jörgen Johnsson 5.772/396.23 def. Micke Kågered 6.375/336.79

Jörgen's 5.758 yesterday was disallowed as the car was underweight but his earlier time was still good for #1. Micke had the start line advantage 0.073 to 0.090 but Jörgen started to pull away after sixty feet, 0.989 to 1.008 in his favour, Micke pedalled at about 300 feet and that was race over as Jörgen was on a stormer with a new track record ET.

Dan Larsen 6.694/373.16 def. Kjell Sjöblom 6.108/324.91 DQ

A dramatic race as Dan's tyres went up in smoke off the line, Dan pedalled and tried to chase Kjell down with the car moving around the lane, Kjell meanwhile went closer and closer to the guardrail and almost touched it on the finish line. The top end crew checked out the tyre marks on the lane boundary to see if Kjell had gone out of his lane, Chief Starter Ian Marshall as a Judge of Fact went to look for himself and the word is that Kjell crossed the outer boundary so has been disqualified.

Ulf Leanders 5.848/391.69 def. Jarmo Kuutniemi 5.984/374.96

Jarmo didn't start his burnout until about ten feet past the start line, Ulf pulled a 300-foot burnout. Jarmo's FC body was showing signs of repair after yesterday's kitty litter trip. Ulf away first and well ahead at half track 3.844 to 3.929, a Personal Best for Jarmo but Ulf took the win.

Leif Andréasson 6.275/285.13 def. Arvid Grødem 6.372/274.33 red light

Arvid handed this one to Leif with a 0.399 red light, both FCs were bouncing around and both racers shut off early.

10:35

FIA Top Methanol Dragster eliminations round 1:

Dave Wilson 5.495/413.50 def. Yngve Solberg 7.192/310.48

Another great reaction from Grumpy 0.086 to Yngve's 0.185, 0.933 to sixty feet to Yngve's 1.166, this was all over very quickly. A straight clean pass for the American Car Imports dragster, Yngve gave it his best but he was a spectator.

Peter Schöfer 5.560/419.08 def. Krister Johansson 10.625/142.50

This was over as soon as the cars left the line, Peter got away first 0.138 to 0.143, Peter's sixty foot of 0.933 to Krister's 1.297 shows what happened - Krister had a couple of cylinders out off the line and the engine again sounded as if it were labouring. Peter's shake didn't seem quite so bad this time but the car was moving around a fair bit.

Rob Turner 5.553/400.15 def. Timo Habermann 6.684/285.04

Timo was away first 0.110 to Rob's 0.233, Timo's UniFit dragster pulled the usual wheelie then Timo pedalled as the front came down, then he got off the throttle in the second half of the track as Rob was long gone.

10:25

FIA Top Fuel Dragster eliminations round 1:

Håkan Nilsson 4.865/473.64 def. Micke Kågered 4.917/485.88

Micke got away first 0.169 to 0.176, 0.877 to sixty feet for Håkan to Micke's 0.903, Håkan clocked 3.289/397.69 to half track to Micke's 3.331/395.36 and 0.045 in it at the top end, Micke clocked 301.91 mph. Clean full passes from both cars and I would imagine in the top five of the quickest Top Fuel races in Europe.

Thomas Nataas 5.130/486.76 def. Håkan Fällström 10.550/107.93

Thomas away first 0.118 to 0.175, Thomas hit shake and pedalled, just as Thomas pedalled Håkan got off the throttle - from here it looked as if the belt broke although if it did it stayed with the car. When Thomas pedalled the tyres hooked up and the Batmobil shot up the right side of the lane, 302.46 mph which is quite some feat given the pedal.

Tommi Haapanen 5.115/450.26 def. Tommy Möller 5.132/428.90

Another very gentle and low-rev burnout for Tommi with the tyres hazing rather than smoking. Tommi away first 0.166 to 0.173, Tommy's sixty foot time was 0.885 to Tommi's 0.888, a pedal for Tommy and then 3.355/370.09 to half track to Tommi's 3.435/381.74, Tommy's engine started to go away towards the finish line and the Pennzoil dragster disappeared in a cloud of vapour, Tommi went past and took the stripe by 0.024.

Urs Erbacher 5.118/374.94 def. Lex Joon 5.196/399.87

Alternate Andy Carter sat in the pairing lanes with his engine running whilst Urs and Lex pulled their burnouts. Simon at trackside reported that Urs' tuner Glenn Mikres got quite animated at the start line, something he didn't like the look of just as Lex just away first 0.122 to 0.125, 0.904 to sixty foot for Lex to Urs' 0.934, Urs ahead at half track 3.368/402.11 to Lex's 3.434/371.27, there was greenish flame from Lex's dragster from about 900 feet but from here it looked as if he stayed on the throttle, then there was a sheet of flame from Urs' engine at about 1100 feet.

Andy Carter's dragster was later seen in the pits minus its B & Q decals, and Andy had left the facility. Evidently something of import has occurred in the Rune Fjeld Motorsports pit and as soon as we get the lowdown we will let you know.

FIA Pro Modified eliminations round 1:

Trackside conditions at the start of this session were 21.8 C, 43% humidity and 1003 mb of air. Track temperature was 28.9 C.

Freddy Fagerström 6.413/354.88 def. Niklas Andersson 6.483/345.93

Freddy didn't let us down with a 400 foot burnout to open the day, Sharkman at trackside commented "Taking it gently on his rebuilt engine". Niklas got away first 0.100 to 0.124, Niklas' coupe made a move to the right, Freddy was three hundredths ahead at half track and took the win by 0.045.

Gordon Appleton 8.588/174.94 def. Ulf Rapp broke

Ulf was pushed back after the burnout with a wayward con rod, Gordon took the bye and was going great guns, 1.008 to sixty feet but the Camaro was heading to the right and almost got to the centreline before Gordon got off the throttle.

Andy Robinson 6.418/321.84 def. Marko Lantto 6.813/213.99

Andy got away first 0.036 to 0.176, Marko tried pedalling through shake with the 'Vette making a move towards the guardrail, Andy was long gone, 0.17 ahead at half track and took the stripe by 0.535.

Urban Johansson 6.417/355.24 def. Seppo Saapola 6.710/335.38

Seppo was going to have to get a good start to have a chance in this one and he did, 0.069 to 0.154 but Urban had 0.09 on Seppo by sixty feet and 0.19 on him by half track, winning by 0.208.

Jan Arve Nygård 6.412/350.28 def. Mats Eriksson 6.493/358.48

Jan Arve left on Mats 0.103 to 0.191 and although Mats started to claw back the lead in the second half of the track he didn't have enough and Jan Arve had 0.169 at the stripe, clocking a new Personal Best in the process, well done Jan Arve!

Micke Lindahl 6.330/356.52 def. Lars Olsson 6.638/336.96

Micke changed lanes just before starting, to the right lane which has been the less favoured lane so far this weekend. Lars got away first 0.048 to 0.113 but the Kendall Chevy launched as if shot from a gun and went as straight as I have ever seen it run, 1.045 to sixty feet to Lars' 1.076; Micke had 0.2 seconds at half track and 0.242 at the finish line and a new Personal Best, well done Micke!

Roger Johansson 6.535/348.07 def. Bruno Bader 6.554/344.71

Bruno gave us a show right in front of race control, on returning from the burnout he blipped the throttle and the driver's side door fell off. Roger waited patiently whilst Bruno's crew mounted the door. Roger then whacked Bruno on the line 0.051 to 0.232, Bruno had the better sixty foot time at 1.039 to 1.042 and better half track 4.257 to 4.260 but Roger was too far ahead and won by 0.199.

Micke Gullquist 6.509/348.17 def. Marc Meihuizen 6.788/346.31

Sverre did not start so Marc stepped in, he got away first 0.117 to Micke's 0.134, Micke took a very long way round with the car moving to the right but he had more than enough to cover Marc. There is now a clean-up taking place where Sverre's 'Vette was sat.

Good morning and welcome from Mantorp Park for day four of the 2006 Veidec Festival. It's race dayand we're here to bring you all the news in association with American Car Imports.

The Webster Race Engineering/MPM Oil webcam is on-line and posting a picture every two minutes; you can reach the webcam via the Event Index page.

Less than an hour after the track closed last night we had a thunderstorm with rain of biblical proportions. This morning most surfaces are bone dry. Go figure. Right now it is overcast but mild and the track crew are prepping the surface ready for the day's action.

We must say a big Thank You to Mantorp Park's Assistant Track Manager Fredrik Ström who even though he had quite enough to do yesterday leapt into action when the phone line failed in the middle of the first Pro qualifying session. Hopefully you won't have noticed the break since Fredrik got things fixed within about fifteen minutes.

A couple of greetings this morning, firstly a big Happy Birthday for yesterday to Lena Perés, and Happy Wedding Anniversary to Mats Eriksson and Lena Perés for Friday. A nicer couple you could not find, and many thanks to them for their hospitality over this weekend. Secondly, a big Happy 50th Birthday to FIM/UEM Championship Co-ordinator Lars Andersson whose birthday is today, have a great day Lars. Next up is the traditional raceday greeting to our US correspondents Ed O'Connell and Kathy Hileman who are tuned in from New Hampshire. To answer your E-Mail about photographic evidence, Ed, I can't go sticking cameras in faces without causing another diplomatic incident. Finally a big Hello to the Pels and Koedam families who are tuned in from Holland, we wish you were all here.
