Junior Dragster Shootout (best Reaction Time): Tom Watts

If the name of Mick Combes is not familiar, he is Crew Chief of Andy Hone's Gleeson Wright Security-backed Super Mod. Mick spent the weekend driving the Scorpio, and ran as quickly as 8.328. Nice one Mick!

Darryl Bradford put in a very strong pass in the Wildside Inc Top Fuel Dragster, the time and speed came up as 0.803/650.25 which, good as Darryl's pass was, was obviously not right. The consensus amongst the race officials and Darryl himself was a 5.3 at somewhere around 260 mph. A header came off the left side of the engine at about a thousand feet, and then four rods kicked out right on the finish line, but Darryl had it under control and the diaper did its job, the only fluid on the track afterwards was the water used to put out the fire.

Roger Goring recorded a personal best ET of 6.278 at a consistent 248.63, Roger tells us that he had a new best 330-foot time and eighth ET and speed on that pass.

The Supercharged Outlaws were this morning joined by Mark Purslow with his very nice nostalgia dragster, Mark went into the eights off the trailer in this morning's session. This afternoon Chris Round and Andy Stanton went head-to-head, Chris getting there first at 7.906/171.10 to Andy's 8.439/177.17, then Mark Purslow and Roy Wilding matched up, Mark first to the stripe with an early shut-off 8.038/148.51 to Roy's 8.377/167.29. A cloud of smoke from Roy's car turned out to be the transmission breaking big time, of course in a slingshot Roy was sat almost on top of it but apart from a bit of a surprise he was OK and later visited us in Race Control with a piece of Lenco casing.

We are now working on today's pictures, stay tuned.
