Hello and welcome from Shakespeare County Raceway on day one of our coverage of the APIRA Test and Tune, brought you to in association with American Car Imports. The rain kept threatening with some sprinkles in the air earlier on but right now it's a nice spring day. We got started just after 12:00 and the cars and bikes have just kept on coming.
As you have probably noticed we have had some trouble with the phone line here at SCR, thanks to the tech crew who tried very hard to put things back together again.
At time of writing, low ET of the day has been from Jerry Collier on the Kawasaki H2 Comp Bike at 8.713/152.54. On four wheels the quickest so far has been Paul Harvey in his Wild Bunch dragster at 9.084/145.16.
Burnout of the day is a three-way tie between Mick Rogers in his Cortina, followed by an 11.693/122.95, Brian Huxley in his Super Street roadster followed by an 11.327/122.62, and Mike Bentley in his Super Street Sierra before an 11.098/131.96. An honourable mention also goes to Derek Annable in the Shell Racing TMD who pulled a great burnout before the blower lifted on the way back.
An event of this type throws up some great pairings and the best so far today has been the two vans of 'Wobbly Bob' and a high-rider Thames (we'll get the driver's name), the Thames taking the win at 12.914/106.13 to Bob's 13.795/98.90.
Given that we have no phone line, we will keep a "run log" of today's passes and publish it at the end of today.
